1And Sh’mu’el [His name is El] died; and all the Yisra’eli’s were gathered together, and lamented him, and buried him in his house at Ramah [Hill]. And David [beloved] arose, and went down to the wilderness of Pa’ran [place of caverns].

2And [there was] a man in Ma’on [Habitation], whose possessions [were] in Carmel [Garden-land]; and the man [was] very great, and he had three thousand sheep, and a thousand goats: and he was shearing his sheep in Carmel [Garden-land]. 3Now the name of the man [was] Naval [fool]; and the name of his wife Avigayil [my father is joy]: and [she was] a woman of good understanding, and of a beautiful Countenance (Face, appearance; show favor): but the man [was] churlish and evil in his doings; and he [was] of the house of Kalev [Dog]. 4And David [beloved] heard in the wilderness that Naval [fool] did shear his sheep. 5And David [beloved] sent out ten young men, and David [beloved] said unto the young men, Get you up to Carmel [Garden-land], and go to Naval [fool], and greet him in my name: 6And thus shall you^2f say to him that lives [in prosperity], Peace [be] both to youⁱ, and peace [be] to yourⁱ house, and peace [be] unto all that youⁱ have. 7And now I have heard that youⁱ have shearers: now yourⁱ shepherds which were with us, we hurt them not, neither was there ought missing unto them, all the while they were in Carmel [Garden-land]. 8Ask youⁱ young men, and they will show youⁱ. For what reason let the young men find favour in youⁱ eyes: for we come in a good day: give, I pray youⁱ, whatsoever comes to yourⁱ hand unto yourⁱ servants, and to yourⁱ son David [beloved].

9And when David’s [beloved]’s young men came, they spoke to Naval [fool] according to all those words in the name of David [beloved], and ceased. 10And Naval [fool] answered David’s [beloved]’s servants, and said, Who [is] David [beloved]? and who [is] the son of Yishai [I possess]? there be many servants now a days that break away every man from his master. 11Shall I then take my bread, and my water, and my flesh that I have killed for my shearers, and give [it] unto men, whom I know not from what place they [be]? 12So David’s [beloved]’s young men turned their way, and went again, and came and told him all those sayings. 13And David [beloved] said unto his men, Gird you^2f on every man his sword. And they girded on every man his sword; and David [beloved] also girded on his sword: and there went up after David [beloved] about four hundred men; and two hundred abode by the stuff.

14But one of the young men told Avigayil [my father is joy], Naval [fool]'s wife, saying, Behold, David [beloved] sent messengers out of the wilderness to salute our master; and he railed on them. 15But the men [were] very good unto us, and we were not hurt, neither missed we anything, as long as we were conversant with them, when we were in the fields: 16They were a wall unto us both by night and day, all the while we were with them keeping the sheep. 17Now therefore know and consider what youⁱ will do; for evil is determined against our master, and against all his household: for he [is such] a son of Belial [Worthless, Good for Nothing], that [a man] cannot speak to him.

18Then Avigayil [my father is joy] made haste, and took two hundred loaves, and two bottles of wine, and five sheep ready dressed, and five measures of parched [corn], and an hundred clusters of raisins, and two hundred cakes of figs, and laid [them] on asses. 19And she said unto her servants, Go on before me; behold, I come after you. But she told not her husband Naval [fool]. 20And it was [so, as] she rode on the ass, that she came down by the colonnade of the hill, and, behold, David [beloved] and his men came down against her; and she met them. 21Now David [beloved] had said, Surely in vain have I kept all that this [fellow] has in the wilderness, so that nothing was missed of all that [pertained] unto him: and he has requited me evil for good. 22So and more also do God-Elohim (The Living Word) [The Many Powered] unto the enemies of David [beloved], if I leave of all that [pertain] to him by the morning light any that pisses against the wall.

23And when Avigayil [my father is joy] saw David [beloved], she hasted, and lighted off the ass, and fell before David [beloved] on her face, and bowed herself to the ground, 24And fell at his feet, and said, Upon me, my lord, [upon] me [let this] iniquity [be]: and let youⁱ female servant, I pray youⁱ, speak in youⁱ audience, and hear the words of youⁱ female servant. 25Let not my lord, I pray youⁱ, regard this man of Belial [Worthless, Good for Nothing], [even] Naval [fool]: for as his name [is], so [is] he; Naval [fool] [is] his name, and folly [is] with him: but I youⁱ female servant saw not the young men of my lord, whom youⁱ did send.

26Now therefore, my lord, [as] the LORD-Yehovah (Messiah Pre-Incarnate) lives, and [as] yourⁱ soul lives, seeing the LORD-Yehovah (Messiah Pre-Incarnate) has withheld youⁱ from coming to [shed] blood, and from avenging yourself with yourⁱ own hand, now let yourⁱ enemies, and they that seek evil to my lord, be as Naval [fool]. 27And now this blessing which youⁱ female servant has brought unto my lord, let it even be given unto the young men that follow my lord. 28I pray youⁱ, forgive the trespass of yourⁱ female servant: for the LORD-Yehovah (Messiah Pre-Incarnate) will certainly make my lord a sure house; because my lord fights the battles of the LORD-Yehovah (Messiah Pre-Incarnate), and evil has not been found in youⁱ [all] yourⁱ days. 29Yet a man is risen to pursue youⁱ, and to seek yourⁱ soul: but the soul of my lord shall be bound in the bundle of life with the LORD-Yehovah (Messiah Pre-Incarnate) yourⁱ God-Elohim (The Living Word) [The Many Powered]; and the souls of yourⁱ enemies, them shall he sling out, [as out] of the middle of a sling. 30And it shall come to pass, when the LORD-Yehovah (Messiah Pre-Incarnate) shall have done to my lord according to all the good that he has spoken concerning youⁱ, and shall have appointed youⁱ ruler over Yisra’el [He Holds Onto The Heel Of God]; 31That this shall be no grief unto youⁱ, nor offence of heart unto my lord, either that youⁱ have shed blood causeless, or that my lord has avenged himself: but when the LORD-Yehovah (Messiah Pre-Incarnate) shall have dealt well with my lord, then remember youⁱ female servant.

32And David [beloved] said to Avigayil [my father is joy], Blessed (Favored by God; happy; prosperous) [be] the LORD-Yehovah (Messiah Pre-Incarnate) God-Elohim (The Living Word) [The Many Powered] of Yisra’el [He Holds Onto The Heel Of God], which sent youⁱ this day to meet me: 33And Blessed (Favored by God; happy; prosperous) [be] youⁱ advice, and Blessed (Favored by God; happy; prosperous) [be] youⁱ, which have kept me this day from coming to [shed] blood, and from avenging myself with my own hand. 34For in very deed, [as] the LORD-Yehovah (Messiah Pre-Incarnate) God-Elohim (The Living Word) [The Many Powered] of Yisra’el [He Holds Onto The Heel Of God] lives, which has kept me back from hurting youⁱ, except youⁱ had hasted and come to meet me, surely there had not been left unto Naval [fool] by the morning light any that pisses against the wall. 35So David [beloved] received of her hand [that] which she had brought him, and said unto her, Go up in peace to youⁱ house; see, I have listened to youⁱ voice, and have accepted youⁱ person.

36And Avigayil [my father is joy] came to Naval [fool]; and, behold, he held a feast in his house, like the feast of a king; and Naval [fool]'s heart [was] merry within him, for he [was] very drunken: wherefore she told him nothing, less or more, until the morning light. 37But it came to pass in the morning, when the wine was gone out of Naval [fool], and his wife had told him these things, that his heart died within him, and he became [as] a stone. 38And it came to pass about ten days [after], that the LORD-Yehovah (Messiah Pre-Incarnate) struck Naval [fool], that he died.

39And when David [beloved] heard that Naval [fool] was dead, he said, Blessed (Favored by God; happy; prosperous) [be] the LORD-Yehovah (Messiah Pre-Incarnate), that has pleaded the cause of my reproach (disgrace; shame) from the hand of Naval [fool], and has kept his servant from evil: for the LORD-Yehovah (Messiah Pre-Incarnate) has returned the wickedness of Naval [fool] upon his own head. And David [beloved] sent and communed with Avigayil [my father is joy], to take her to him to wife. 40And when the servants of David [beloved] were come to Avigayil [my father is joy] to Carmel [Garden-land], they spoke unto her, saying, David [beloved] sent us unto youⁱ, to take youⁱ to him to wife. 41And she arose, and bowed herself on [her] face to the earth, and said, Behold, [let] yourⁱ female servant [be] a servant to wash the feet of the servants of my lord. 42And Avigayil [my father is joy] hasted, and arose, and rode upon an ass, with five female servants of hers that went after her; and she went after the messengers of David [beloved], and became his wife.

43David [beloved] also took Achino’am [my brother is delight] of Yizre’el [God Sows]; and they were also both of them his wives.

44But Sha’ul [desired] had given Mikhal [who is like God?] his daughter, David’s [beloved]’s wife, to Palti [my deliverance] the son of Layish [Lion], which [was] of Gallim [springs].
