Act 10:40-41 God raised Him up on the third day and… which we have gazed upon They did not merely catch sight of Him; they closely observed His life and works over the course of His earthly ministry. Jhn 1:14 The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us.… and touched with our own hands— Jesus possessed a real human body. The apostles’ physical contact with Him, including after His resurrection, confirmed that He truly came in the flesh. Luk 24:39-40 Look at My hands and My feet. It is I Myself.… this is the Word of life. Jesus is God’s living revelation and the source of eternal life. Through Him, the life of God was made known and offered to mankind. Php 2:16 as you hold forth the word of life in order that I may boast… And this is the life that was revealed; Jesus Christ made visible the divine and eternal life that had been hidden with God. In His incarnation, the eternal Son entered human history, bringing light and life to those in darkness. 2Ti 1:10 And now He has revealed this grace through the appearing… we have seen it and testified to it, John speaks as an eyewitness, joined by the other apostles who heard Jesus, observed His works, and encountered Him risen from the dead. Their message rests on direct experience rather than speculation. Jhn 19:35 The one who saw it has testified to this, and his testimony…… and we proclaim to you the eternal life The apostles publicly announced the life found in Christ. Eternal life begins in fellowship with God through faith in His Son and continues beyond death. Tit 1:2-3 in the hope of eternal life, which God,… that was with the Father Before His earthly birth, the Son existed eternally in perfect fellowship with the Father. He is distinct from the Father yet fully shares the divine nature. Jhn 17:5 And now, Father, glorify Me in Your presence… and was revealed to us. The apostles received this revelation through Christ’s coming, ministry, death, and resurrection. They proclaimed what God had made known so that others might share fellowship with Him. 1Jn 3:5 But you know that Christ appeared to take away sins… We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, John speaks as an apostolic eyewitness of Jesus’ earthly ministry, death, and resurrection. The message rests on the historical revelation of Christ, not on speculation or private religious experience. What the apostles received from Him, they publicly announced to others. Act 4:20 For we cannot stop speaking about what we have seen… so that you also may have fellowship with us. The proclamation of Christ brings believers into the shared life of the church. This fellowship unites those who have received the apostolic message in faith, worship, truth, and mutual care. Act 2:42 They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching… And this fellowship of ours is with the Father and with His Son, Jesus Christ. Christian fellowship begins with reconciliation to God through His Son. Believers are joined not merely to one another but to the Father and to Jesus Christ, sharing in the life made known through the incarnate Son. 1Co 1:9 God, who has called you into fellowship with His Son… We write these things John records the apostolic witness so that believers may remain grounded in the truth proclaimed from the beginning: the eternal Son of God truly came in the flesh, died, and rose again. Written testimony preserved this message for churches beyond the reach of the original eyewitnesses. 1Jn 2:1 My little children, I am writing these things to you…… so that our joy Joy grows as believers receive the apostolic message and share fellowship with God and with one another. The faithfulness of those taught by the apostles brought joy to those who had labored to proclaim Christ. 2Co 2:3 I wrote so that on my arrival I would not be grieved… may be complete. Such joy is brought to its intended fullness when the church walks in the truth, rejects false teaching, and remains in fellowship with the Father and His Son. 2Jn 1:12 I have many things to write to you, but I would prefer not…
Walking in the LightJohn speaks as an apostolic witness who received Christ’s teaching and now publicly declares it to the churches. The gospel was not a human philosophy or later invention; it came from the incarnate Son of God. Those appointed by Christ bore authoritative witness to His life, death, resurrection, and teaching. Jhn 15:15 No longer do I call you servants, for a servant… God is light, God’s nature is perfectly holy, true, and pure. Light reflects His revealing presence and stands opposed to all sin, deception, and moral corruption. Jesus, the Son of God, came into the world to reveal the Father and bring men out of spiritual darkness. Psa 27:1 Of David. The LORD is my light and my salvation—… and in Him there is no darkness at all. No evil, falsehood, or impurity exists in God. His holiness is complete and unchanging, making fellowship with Him incompatible with a life characterized by sin and deception. Those who belong to Him are called to live in accordance with the truth He has revealed. Jas 1:17 Every good and perfect gift is from above… If we say we have fellowship with Him Fellowship with God is a real sharing of life with Him, marked by faith, obedience, and communion with the Father through His Son. Tit 1:16 They profess to know God, but by their actions… yet walk in the darkness, A continued pattern of sin, moral rebellion, and rejection of God’s revealed truth stands opposed to God’s holy nature. Jhn 12:35 Then Jesus told them, “For a little while longer… we lie Such a profession is false, because fellowship with the God who is light cannot coexist with a life devoted to darkness. Rom 3:4 Certainly not! Let God be true and every man a liar.… and do not practice the truth. Truth is not merely claimed or understood; it is lived out in obedience to God’s Word. Jhn 3:21 But whoever practices the truth comes into the Light… But if we walk in the light Believers are called to live openly before God in truth, righteousness, and obedience rather than in the darkness of sin, deception, and moral ignorance. Walking describes the settled course of life. Jhn 12:35-36 Then Jesus told them, “For a little while longer… as He is in the light, God is perfectly holy and free from darkness. His character establishes the standard for those who belong to Him and reveals what sin truly is. 1Ti 6:16 He alone is immortal and dwells in unapproachable light.… we have fellowship with one another, Shared life in the light produces genuine fellowship among believers. The early church expressed this unity through worship, prayer, instruction, meals, and mutual care. Act 2:42 They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching… and the blood of Jesus His Son Jesus’ sacrificial death provides the atonement that the sacrifices under the old covenant anticipated. His blood is sufficient because He is God’s sinless Son. Eph 1:7 In Him we have redemption through His blood,… cleanses us from all sin. Christ’s blood fully removes the guilt and defilement of sin for those who walk in the light, sustaining their fellowship with God and with His people. Rev 7:14 “Sir,” I answered, “you know.” So he replied:… If we say we have no sin, This denies the universal reality of human sinfulness and rejects the need for repentance. Some false teachers claimed that spiritual knowledge or religious status placed them beyond moral accountability, but no believer is free from the presence of sin in this life. Pro 20:9 Who can say, “I have kept my heart pure;… we deceive ourselves, “We deceive ourselves” because denying sin blinds us to guilt, weakens repentance, and distorts fellowship with God. Gal 6:3 If anyone thinks he is something when he is nothing… and the truth is not in us. God’s truth exposes sin and leads His people to walk honestly before Him. A life that denies sin cannot rightly receive the cleansing and restoration God provides. Jhn 8:44 You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry… If we confess our sins, Confession is the honest acknowledgment of sin before God, joined with repentance and a turning from wrongdoing. Under the law, confession accompanied the sacrifices appointed for atonement. For believers, it means agreeing with God’s judgment of sin rather than excusing or concealing it. Psa 32:5 Then I acknowledged my sin to You and did not hide… He is faithful and just God remains true to His promises and acts according to His holy character. Because Christ has borne the penalty for sin, God’s forgiveness does not ignore justice; it rests on the completed sacrifice of His Son. 1Co 1:9 God, who has called you into fellowship with His Son… to forgive us our sins Through Christ’s death, God grants forgiveness to those who come to Him in faith. Sin’s guilt is removed, and fellowship with God, disrupted by disobedience, is restored. Act 10:43 All the prophets testify about Him… and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. God’s work includes more than pardon. He cleanses believers from the defilement of sin and continues to set them apart for righteous living. Psa 51:2 Wash me clean of my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin. If we say we have not sinned, John confronts the claim that a person has no actual guilt before God. Some early false teachers separated spiritual profession from moral conduct, denying that sinful actions affected fellowship with God. Such denial rejects God’s testimony that all people need forgiveness and redemption. Pro 20:9 Who can say, “I have kept my heart pure;… we make Him out to be a liar, God has plainly revealed humanity’s rebellion and the need for Christ’s sacrifice. To deny personal sin is to contradict His truth and dismiss the reason Christ came to save sinners. 1Jn 5:10 Whoever believes in the Son of God has this testimony… and His word is not in us. God’s message produces an honest recognition of sin and a dependence on Christ. Where sin is denied, the truth of the gospel has not been received or allowed to govern the heart.
