He opposes payment of taxes to Caesar and claims to be Messiah, a king.”

When Herod saw Jesus, he was very glad, for he had long desired to see him, because he had heard about him, and he was hoping to see some sign done by him. When Herod saw Jesus, he was greatly pleased, because for a long time he had been wanting to see him. From what he had heard about him, he hoped to see him perform a sign of some sort.
9 And he questioned him concerning many things; but he made him no answer. So he questioned him at some length, but he made no answer. He plied him with many questions, but Jesus gave him no answer.

And after examining him before you, behold, I did not find this man guilty of any of your charges against him. and said to them, “You brought me this man as one who was inciting the people to rebellion. I have examined him in your presence and have found no basis for your charges against him.

What evil has he done? I have found in him no guilt deserving death. I will therefore punish and release him.” For the third time he spoke to them: “Why? What crime has this man committed?
