1	At that time Solomon assembled before him in Jerusalem the elders of Israel—all the tribal heads and family leaders of the Israelites—to bring up the ark of the covenant of the LORD from Zion, the City of David.	Then Solomon assembled the elders of Israel and all the heads of the tribes, the leaders of the fathers’ houses of the people of Israel, before King Solomon in Jerusalem, to bring up the ark of the covenant of the LORD out of the city of David, which is Zion.	Then King Solomon summoned into his presence at Jerusalem the elders of Israel, all the heads of the tribes and the chiefs of the Israelite families, to bring up the ark of the LORD’s covenant from Zion, the City of David.
2	And all the men of Israel came together to King Solomon at the feast in the seventh month, the month of Ethanim.	And all the men of Israel assembled to King Solomon at the feast in the month Ethanim, which is the seventh month. 11	so that the priests could not stand there to minister because of the cloud. 13	I have indeed built You an exalted house, a place for You to dwell forever.”	I have indeed built you an exalted house, a place for you to dwell in forever.”	I have indeed built a magnificent temple for you, a place for you to dwell forever.”
14	And as the whole assembly of Israel stood there, the king turned around and blessed them all	Then the king turned around and blessed all the assembly of Israel, while all the assembly of Israel stood.	While the whole assembly of Israel was standing there, the king turned around and blessed them.

16	‘Since the day I brought My people Israel out of Egypt, I have not chosen a city from any tribe of Israel in which to build a house so that My Name would be there. But I have chosen David to be over My people Israel.’	‘Since the day that I brought my people Israel out of Egypt, I chose no city out of all the tribes of Israel in which to build a house, that my name might be there. But I chose David to be over my people Israel.’	Since the day I brought my people Israel out of Egypt, I have not chosen a city in any tribe of Israel to have a temple built so that my Name might be there, but I have chosen David to rule my people Israel.’
17	Now it was in the heart of my father David to build a house for the Name of the LORD, the God of Israel.	Now it was in the heart of David my father to build a house for the name of the LORD, the God of Israel.	“My father David had it in his heart to build a temple for the Name of the LORD, the God of Israel.
18	But the LORD said to my father David, ‘Since it was in your heart to build a house for My Name, you have done well to have this in your heart.	But the LORD said to David my father, ‘Whereas it was in your heart to build a house for my name, you did well that it was in your heart.	But the LORD said to my father David, ‘You did well to have it in your heart to build a temple for my Name.
19	Nevertheless, you are not the one to build it; but your son, your own offspring, will build the house for My Name.’	Nevertheless, you shall not build the house, but your son who shall be born to you shall build the house for my name.’	Nevertheless, you are not the one to build the temple, but your son, your own flesh and blood—he is the one who will build the temple for my Name.’
20	Now the LORD has fulfilled the word that He spoke. I have succeeded my father David, and I sit on the throne of Israel, as the LORD promised. I have built the house for the Name of the LORD, the God of Israel.	Now the LORD has fulfilled his promise that he made. For I have risen in the place of David my father, and sit on the throne of Israel, as the LORD promised, and I have built the house for the name of the LORD, the God of Israel.	“The LORD has kept the promise he made: I have succeeded David my father and now I sit on the throne of Israel, just as the LORD promised, and I have built the temple for the Name of the LORD, the God of Israel.
21	And there I have provided a place for the ark, which contains the covenant of the LORD that He made with our fathers when He brought them out of the land of Egypt.”	And there I have provided a place for the ark, in which is the covenant of the LORD that he made with our fathers, when he brought them out of the land of Egypt.”	I have provided a place there for the ark, in which is the covenant of the LORD that he made with our ancestors when he brought them out of Egypt.”

24	You have kept Your promise to Your servant, my father David. What You spoke with Your mouth You have fulfilled with Your hand this day.	you have kept with your servant David my father what you declared to him. You spoke with your mouth, and with your hand have fulfilled it this day.	You have kept your promise to your servant David my father; with your mouth you have promised and with your hand you have fulfilled it—as it is today.
25	Therefore now, O LORD, God of Israel, keep for Your servant, my father David, what You promised when You said: ‘You will never fail to have a man to sit before Me on the throne of Israel, if only your descendants guard their way to walk before Me as you have done.’	Now therefore, O LORD, God of Israel, keep for your servant David my father what you have promised him, saying, ‘You shall not lack a man to sit before me on the throne of Israel, if only your sons pay close attention to their way, to walk before me as you have walked before me.’	“Now LORD, the God of Israel, keep for your servant David my father the promises you made to him when you said, ‘You shall never fail to have a successor to sit before me on the throne of Israel, if only your descendants are careful in all they do to walk before me faithfully as you have done.’
26	And now, O God of Israel, please confirm what You promised to Your servant, my father David.	Now therefore, O God of Israel, let your word be confirmed, which you have spoken to your servant David my father.	And now, God of Israel, let your word that you promised your servant David my father come true.
27	But will God indeed dwell upon the earth? The heavens, even the highest heavens, cannot contain You, much less this temple I have built.	“But will God indeed dwell on the earth? Behold, heaven and the highest heaven cannot contain you; how much less this house that I have built!	“But will God really dwell on earth? The heavens, even the highest heaven, cannot contain you. How much less this temple I have built!
28	Yet regard the prayer and plea of Your servant, O LORD my God, so that You may hear the cry and the prayer that Your servant is praying before You today.	Yet have regard to the prayer of your servant and to his plea, O LORD my God, listening to the cry and to the prayer that your servant prays before you this day,	Yet give attention to your servant’s prayer and his plea for mercy, LORD my God. Hear the cry and the prayer that your servant is praying in your presence this day.
29	May Your eyes be open toward this temple night and day, toward the place of which You said, ‘My Name shall be there,’ so that You may hear the prayer that Your servant prays toward this place.	that your eyes may be open night and day toward this house, the place of which you have said, ‘My name shall be there,’ that you may listen to the prayer that your servant offers toward this place.	May your eyes be open toward this temple night and day, this place of which you said, ‘My Name shall be there,’ so that you will hear the prayer your servant prays toward this place.
30	Hear the plea of Your servant and of Your people Israel when they pray toward this place. May You hear from heaven, Your dwelling place. May You hear and forgive.	And listen to the plea of your servant and of your people Israel, when they pray toward this place. And listen in heaven your dwelling place, and when you hear, forgive.	Hear the supplication of your servant and of your people Israel when they pray toward this place. Hear from heaven, your dwelling place, and when you hear, forgive.
31	When a man sins against his neighbor and is required to take an oath, and he comes to take an oath before Your altar in this temple,	“If a man sins against his neighbor and is made to take an oath and comes and swears his oath before your altar in this house,	“When anyone wrongs their neighbor and is required to take an oath and they come and swear the oath before your altar in this temple,
32	then may You hear from heaven and act. May You judge Your servants, condemning the wicked man by bringing down on his own head what he has done, and justifying the righteous man by rewarding him according to his righteousness.	then hear in heaven and act and judge your servants, condemning the guilty by bringing his conduct on his own head, and vindicating the righteous by rewarding him according to his righteousness.	then hear from heaven and act. Judge between your servants, condemning the guilty by bringing down on their heads what they have done, and vindicating the innocent by treating them in accordance with their innocence.
33	When Your people Israel are defeated before an enemy because they have sinned against You, and they return to You and confess Your name, praying and pleading with You in this temple,	“When your people Israel are defeated before the enemy because they have sinned against you, and if they turn again to you and acknowledge your name and pray and plead with you in this house,	“When your people Israel have been defeated by an enemy because they have sinned against you, and when they turn back to you and give praise to your name, praying and making supplication to you in this temple,
34	then may You hear from heaven and forgive the sin of Your people Israel. May You restore them to the land You gave to their fathers.	then hear in heaven and forgive the sin of your people Israel and bring them again to the land that you gave to their fathers.	then hear from heaven and forgive the sin of your people Israel and bring them back to the land you gave to their ancestors.
35	When the skies are shut and there is no rain because Your people have sinned against You, and they pray toward this place and confess Your name, and they turn from their sins because You have afflicted them,	“When heaven is shut up and there is no rain because they have sinned against you, if they pray toward this place and acknowledge your name and turn from their sin, when you afflict them,	“When the heavens are shut up and there is no rain because your people have sinned against you, and when they pray toward this place and give praise to your name and turn from their sin because you have afflicted them,
36	then may You hear from heaven and forgive the sin of Your servants, Your people Israel, so that You may teach them the good way in which they should walk. May You send rain on the land that You gave Your people as an inheritance.	then hear in heaven and forgive the sin of your servants, your people Israel, when you teach them the good way in which they should walk, and grant rain upon your land, which you have given to your people as an inheritance.	then hear from heaven and forgive the sin of your servants, your people Israel. Teach them the right way to live, and send rain on the land you gave your people for an inheritance.
37	When famine or plague comes upon the land, or blight or mildew or locusts or grasshoppers, or when their enemy besieges them in their cities, whatever plague or sickness may come,	“If there is famine in the land, if there is pestilence or blight or mildew or locust or caterpillar, if their enemy besieges them in the land at their gates, whatever plague, whatever sickness there is,	“When famine or plague comes to the land, or blight or mildew, locusts or grasshoppers, or when an enemy besieges them in any of their cities, whatever disaster or disease may come,
38	then may whatever prayer or petition Your people Israel make—each knowing his own afflictions and spreading out his hands toward this temple—	whatever prayer, whatever plea is made by any man or by all your people Israel, each knowing the affliction of his own heart and stretching out his hands toward this house,	and when a prayer or plea is made by anyone among your people Israel—being aware of the afflictions of their own hearts, and spreading out their hands toward this temple—
39	be heard by You from heaven, Your dwelling place. And may You forgive and act, and repay each man according to all his ways, since You know his heart—for You alone know the hearts of all men—	then hear in heaven your dwelling place and forgive and act and render to each whose heart you know, according to all his ways (for you, you only, know the hearts of all the children of mankind),	then hear from heaven, your dwelling place. Forgive and act; deal with everyone according to all they do, since you know their hearts (for you alone know every human heart),
40	so that they may fear You all the days they live in the land that You gave to our fathers.	that they may fear you all the days that they live in the land that you gave to our fathers.	so that they will fear you all the time they live in the land you gave our ancestors.
41	And as for the foreigner who is not of Your people Israel but has come from a distant land because of Your name—	“Likewise, when a foreigner, who is not of your people Israel, comes from a far country for your name’s sake	“As for the foreigner who does not belong to your people Israel but has come from a distant land because of your name—
42	for they will hear of Your great name and mighty hand and outstretched arm—when he comes and prays toward this temple,	(for they shall hear of your great name and your mighty hand, and of your outstretched arm), when he comes and prays toward this house,	for they will hear of your great name and your mighty hand and your outstretched arm—when they come and pray toward this temple,
43	then may You hear from heaven, Your dwelling place, and do according to all for which the foreigner calls to You. Then all the peoples of the earth will know Your name and fear You, as do Your people Israel, and they will know that this house I have built is called by Your Name.	hear in heaven your dwelling place and do according to all for which the foreigner calls to you, in order that all the peoples of the earth may know your name and fear you, as do your people Israel, and that they may know that this house that I have built is called by your name.	then hear from heaven, your dwelling place. Do whatever the foreigner asks of you, so that all the peoples of the earth may know your name and fear you, as do your own people Israel, and may know that this house I have built bears your Name.
44	When Your people go to war against their enemies, wherever You send them, and when they pray to the LORD in the direction of the city You have chosen and the house I have built for Your Name,	“If your people go out to battle against their enemy, by whatever way you shall send them, and they pray to the LORD toward the city that you have chosen and the house that I have built for your name,	“When your people go to war against their enemies, wherever you send them, and when they pray to the LORD toward the city you have chosen and the temple I have built for your Name,
45	then may You hear from heaven their prayer and their plea, and may You uphold their cause.	then hear in heaven their prayer and their plea, and maintain their cause.	then hear from heaven their prayer and their plea, and uphold their cause.
46	When they sin against You—for there is no one who does not sin—and You become angry with them and deliver them to an enemy who takes them as captives to his own land, whether far or near,	“If they sin against you—for there is no one who does not sin—and you are angry with them and give them to an enemy, so that they are carried away captive to the land of the enemy, far off or near,	“When they sin against you—for there is no one who does not sin—and you become angry with them and give them over to their enemies, who take them captive to their own lands, far away or near;
47	and when they come to their senses in the land to which they were taken, and they repent and plead with You in the land of their captors, saying, ‘We have sinned and done wrong; we have acted wickedly,’	yet if they turn their heart in the land to which they have been carried captive, and repent and plead with you in the land of their captors, saying, ‘We have sinned and have acted perversely and wickedly,’	and if they have a change of heart in the land where they are held captive, and repent and plead with you in the land of their captors and say, ‘We have sinned, we have done wrong, we have acted wickedly’;
48	and when they return to You with all their heart and soul in the land of the enemies who took them captive, and when they pray to You in the direction of the land that You gave to their fathers, the city You have chosen, and the house I have built for Your Name,	if they repent with all their heart and with all their soul in the land of their enemies, who carried them captive, and pray to you toward their land, which you gave to their fathers, the city that you have chosen, and the house that I have built for your name,	and if they turn back to you with all their heart and soul in the land of their enemies who took them captive, and pray to you toward the land you gave their ancestors, toward the city you have chosen and the temple I have built for your Name;
49	then may You hear from heaven, Your dwelling place, their prayer and petition, and may You uphold their cause.	then hear in heaven your dwelling place their prayer and their plea, and maintain their cause	then from heaven, your dwelling place, hear their prayer and their plea, and uphold their cause.
50	May You forgive Your people who have sinned against You and all the transgressions they have committed against You, and may You grant them compassion in the eyes of their captors to show them mercy.	and forgive your people who have sinned against you, and all their transgressions that they have committed against you, and grant them compassion in the sight of those who carried them captive, that they may have compassion on them	And forgive your people, who have sinned against you; forgive all the offenses they have committed against you, and cause their captors to show them mercy;
51	For they are Your people and Your inheritance; You brought them out of Egypt, out of the furnace for iron.	(for they are your people, and your heritage, which you brought out of Egypt, from the midst of the iron furnace).	for they are your people and your inheritance, whom you brought out of Egypt, out of that iron-smelting furnace.
52	May Your eyes be open to the pleas of Your servant and of Your people Israel, and may You listen to them whenever they call to You.	Let your eyes be open to the plea of your servant and to the plea of your people Israel, giving ear to them whenever they call to you.	“May your eyes be open to your servant’s plea and to the plea of your people Israel, and may you listen to them whenever they cry out to you.
53	For You, O Lord GOD, have set them apart from all the peoples of the earth as Your inheritance, as You spoke through Your servant Moses when You brought our fathers out of Egypt.”	For you separated them from among all the peoples of the earth to be your heritage, as you declared through Moses your servant, when you brought our fathers out of Egypt, O Lord GOD.”	For you singled them out from all the nations of the world to be your own inheritance, just as you declared through your servant Moses when you, Sovereign LORD, brought our ancestors out of Egypt.”
54	Now when Solomon had finished praying this entire prayer and petition to the LORD, he got up before the altar of the LORD, where he had been kneeling with his hands spread out toward heaven.	Now as Solomon finished offering all this prayer and plea to the LORD, he arose from before the altar of the LORD, where he had knelt with hands outstretched toward heaven.	When Solomon had finished all these prayers and supplications to the LORD, he rose from before the altar of the LORD, where he had been kneeling with his hands spread out toward heaven.
55	And he stood and blessed the whole assembly of Israel in a loud voice, saying:	And he stood and blessed all the assembly of Israel with a loud voice, saying,	He stood and blessed the whole assembly of Israel in a loud voice, saying:
56	“Blessed be the LORD, who has given rest to His people Israel according to all that He promised. Not one word has failed of all the good promises He made through His servant Moses.	“Blessed be the LORD who has given rest to his people Israel, according to all that he promised. Not one word has failed of all his good promise, which he spoke by Moses his servant.	“Praise be to the LORD, who has given rest to his people Israel just as he promised. Not one word has failed of all the good promises he gave through his servant Moses.
57	May the LORD our God be with us, as He was with our fathers. May He never leave us or forsake us.	The LORD our God be with us, as he was with our fathers. May he not leave us or forsake us,	May the LORD our God be with us as he was with our ancestors; may he never leave us nor forsake us.
58	May He incline our hearts to Himself, to walk in all His ways and to keep the commandments and statutes and ordinances He commanded our fathers.	that he may incline our hearts to him, to walk in all his ways and to keep his commandments, his statutes, and his rules, which he commanded our fathers.	May he turn our hearts to him, to walk in obedience to him and keep the commands, decrees and laws he gave our ancestors.
59	And may these words with which I have made my petition before the LORD be near to the LORD our God day and night, so that He may uphold the cause of His servant and of His people Israel as each day requires,	Let these words of mine, with which I have pleaded before the LORD, be near to the LORD our God day and night, and may he maintain the cause of his servant and the cause of his people Israel, as each day requires,	And may these words of mine, which I have prayed before the LORD, be near to the LORD our God day and night, that he may uphold the cause of his servant and the cause of his people Israel according to each day’s need,
60	so that all the peoples of the earth may know that the LORD is God. There is no other!	that all the peoples of the earth may know that the LORD is God; there is no other.	so that all the peoples of the earth may know that the LORD is God and that there is no other.
61	So let your heart be fully devoted to the LORD our God, as it is this day, to walk in His statutes and to keep His commandments.”	Let your heart therefore be wholly true to the LORD our God, walking in his statutes and keeping his commandments, as at this day.”	And may your hearts be fully committed to the LORD our God, to live by his decrees and obey his commands, as at this time.”
62	Then the king and all Israel with him offered sacrifices before the LORD.	Then the king, and all Israel with him, offered sacrifice before the LORD.	Then the king and all Israel with him offered sacrifices before the LORD.
63	And Solomon offered as peace offerings to the LORD 22,000 oxen and 120,000 sheep. So the king and all the Israelites dedicated the house of the LORD. Solomon offered a sacrifice of fellowship offerings to the LORD: twenty-two thousand cattle and a hundred and twenty thousand sheep and goats. 64	On that same day the king consecrated the middle of the courtyard in front of the house of the LORD, and there he offered the burnt offerings, the grain offerings, and the fat of the peace offerings, since the bronze altar before the LORD was too small to contain all these offerings.	The same day the king consecrated the middle of the court that was before the house of the LORD, for there he offered the burnt offering and the grain offering and the fat pieces of the peace offerings, because the bronze altar that was before the LORD was too small to receive the burnt offering and the grain offering and the fat pieces of the peace offerings.	On that same day the king consecrated the middle part of the courtyard in front of the temple of the LORD, and there he offered burnt offerings, grain offerings and the fat of the fellowship offerings, because the bronze altar that stood before the LORD was too small to hold the burnt offerings, the grain offerings and the fat of the fellowship offerings.
65	So at that time Solomon and all Israel with him—a great assembly of people from Lebo-hamath to the Brook of Egypt—kept the feast before the LORD our God for seven days and seven more days—fourteen days in all.	So Solomon held the feast at that time, and all Israel with him, a great assembly, from Lebo-hamath to the Brook of Egypt, before the LORD our God, seven days.	So Solomon observed the festival at that time, and all Israel with him—a vast assembly, people from Lebo Hamath to the Wadi of Egypt. They celebrated it before the LORD our God for seven days and seven days more, fourteen days in all.
66	On the fifteenth day Solomon sent the people away. So they blessed the king and went home, joyful and glad in heart for all the good things that the LORD had done for His servant David and for His people Israel.	On the eighth day he sent the people away, and they blessed the king and went to their homes joyful and glad of heart for all the goodness that the LORD had shown to David his servant and to Israel his people.	On the following day he sent the people away. They blessed the king and then went home, joyful and glad in heart for all the good things the LORD had done for his servant David and his people Israel.
