Ἐὰν
ταῖς
γλώσσαις
τῶν
ἀνθρώπων
λαλῶ
καὶ
τῶν
ἀγγέλων
ἀγάπην
δὲ
μὴ
ἔχω
γέγονα
χαλκὸς
ἠχῶν
ἢ
κύμβαλον
ἀλαλάζον
If
I speak
in the
tongues
of men
and
of angels,
but
have
not
love,
I am
only a ringing
gong
or
a clanging
cymbal.
Though
I speak
with the tongues
of men
and
of angels,
and
have
not
charity,
I am become
[as] sounding
brass,
or
a tinkling
cymbal.

καὶ
ἐὰν
ἔχω
προφητείαν
καὶ
εἰδῶ
τὰ
μυστήρια
πάντα
καὶ
πᾶσαν
τὴν
γνῶσιν
καὶ
ἐὰν
ἔχω
πᾶσαν
τὴν
πίστιν
ὥστε
ὄρη
μεθιστάναι
ἀγάπην
δὲ
μὴ
ἔχω
οὐθέν
εἰμι
If
I have
the gift of prophecy
and
can fathom
all
mysteries
and
all
knowledge,
and
if
I have
absolute
faith
so as
to move
mountains,
but
have
not
love,
I am
nothing.
And
though
I have
[the gift of] prophecy,
and
understand
all
mysteries,
and
all
knowledge;
and
though
I have
all
faith,
so
that I could remove
mountains,
and
have
not
charity,
I am
nothing.

καὶ
ἐὰν
ψωμίσω
πάντα
τὰ
ὑπάρχοντά
μου
καὶ
ἐὰν
παραδῶ
τὸ
σῶμά
μου
ἵνα
[καυχήσωμαι]
ἀγάπην
δὲ
μὴ
ἔχω
οὐδὲν
ὠφελοῦμαι
If
I give
all
I
possess to the poor
and
exult
in the surrender
of my
body,
but
have
not
love,
I gain
nothing.
And
though
I bestow
all
my
goods
to feed
[the poor], and
though
I give
my
body
to
be burned,
and
have
not
charity,
it profiteth me
nothing.

Ἡ
ἀγάπη
μακροθυμεῖ
χρηστεύεται
ἡ
ἀγάπη
οὐ
ζηλοῖ
ἡ
ἀγάπη
οὐ
περπερεύεται
οὐ
φυσιοῦται
Love
is patient,
love
is kind.
It
does not envy,
it does not boast,
it is not proud.
Charity
suffereth long,
[and] is kind;
charity
envieth
not;
charity
vaunteth
not
itself,
is
not
puffed up,
5
οὐκ
ἀσχημονεῖ
οὐ
ζητεῖ
τὰ
ἑαυτῆς
οὐ
παροξύνεται
οὐ
λογίζεται
τὸ
κακόν
It is not rude,
it is not self-seeking,
it is not easily angered,
it keeps no account
of wrongs.
Doth
not
behave itself unseemly,
seeketh
not
her own,
is
not
easily provoked,
thinketh
no
evil;
6
οὐ
χαίρει
ἐπὶ
τῇ
ἀδικίᾳ
συνχαίρει
δὲ
τῇ
ἀληθείᾳ
Love takes no pleasure
in
evil,
but
rejoices
in the
truth.
Rejoiceth
not
in
iniquity,
but
rejoiceth
in the truth;
7
πάντα
στέγει
πάντα
πιστεύει
πάντα
ἐλπίζει
πάντα
ὑπομένει
It bears
all things,
believes
all things,
hopes
all things,
endures
all things.
Beareth
all things,
believeth
all things,
hopeth
all things,
endureth
all things.

Ἡ
ἀγάπη
οὐδέποτε
πίπτει
εἴτε
δὲ
προφητεῖαι
καταργηθήσονται
εἴτε
γλῶσσαι
παύσονται
εἴτε
γνῶσις
καταργηθήσεται
Love
never
fails.
But
where
there are prophecies,
they will cease;
where
there are tongues,
they will be restrained;
where
there is knowledge,
it will be dismissed.
Charity
never
faileth:
but
whether
[there be] prophecies,
they shall fail;
whether
[there be] tongues,
they shall cease;
whether
[there be] knowledge,
it shall vanish away.
9
ἐκ
μέρους
γὰρ
γινώσκομεν
καὶ
ἐκ
μέρους
προφητεύομεν
For
we know
in
part
and
we prophesy
in
part,
For
we know
in
part,
and
we prophesy
in
part.
10
ὅταν
δὲ
ἔλθῃ
τὸ
τέλειον
τὸ
ἐκ
μέρους
καταργηθήσεται
but
when
the
perfect
comes,
the
partial
passes away.
But
when
that which is perfect
is come,
then
that which is in
part
shall be done away.

Ὅτε
ἤμην
νήπιος
ἐλάλουν
ὡς
νήπιος
ἐφρόνουν
ὡς
νήπιος
ἐλογιζόμην
ὡς
νήπιος
ὅτε
γέγονα
ἀνήρ
κατήργηκα
τὰ
τοῦ
νηπίου
When
I was
a child,
I talked
like
a child,
I thought
like
a child,
I reasoned
like
a child.
When
I became
a man,
I set aside
childish ways.
When
I was
a child,
I spake
as
a child,
I understood
as
a child,
I thought
as
a child:
but
when
I became
a man,
I put away
childish things.
12
βλέπομεν
γὰρ
ἄρτι
δι’
ἐσόπτρου
ἐν
αἰνίγματι
τότε
δὲ
πρόσωπον
πρὸς
πρόσωπον
ἄρτι
γινώσκω
ἐκ
μέρους
τότε
δὲ
ἐπιγνώσομαι
καθὼς
καὶ
ἐπεγνώσθην
Now
we see
but a dim reflection
as in
a mirror;
then we shall see
face
to
face.
Now
I know
in
part;
then
I shall know fully,
even
as
I am fully known.
For
now
we see
through
a glass,
darkly;
but
then
face
to
face:
now
I know
in
part;
but
then
shall I know
even as
also
I am known.

Νυνὶ
δὲ

ἀγάπη
τὰ
τρία
ταῦτα
μείζων
δὲ
τούτων
ἡ
ἀγάπη
And
now
these
three
remain:
faith,
hope,
and love;
but
the greatest
of these is
love.
And
now
abideth
faith,
hope,
charity,
these
three;
but
the greatest
of these
[is] charity.
