NET Parallel NASB [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
NET BibleNew American Standard Bible 1995
A well-written song by Ethan the Ezrachite. I will sing continually about the LORD's faithful deeds; to future generations I will proclaim your faithfulness. 1A Maskil of Ethan the Ezrahite. I will sing of the lovingkindness of the LORD forever; To all generations I will make known Your faithfulness with my mouth.
For I say, "Loyal love is permanently established; in the skies you set up your faithfulness." 2For I have said, "Lovingkindness will be built up forever; In the heavens You will establish Your faithfulness."
The LORD said, "I have made a covenant with my chosen one; I have made a promise on oath to David, my servant: 3"I have made a covenant with My chosen; I have sworn to David My servant,
I will give you an eternal dynasty and establish your throne throughout future generations.'" (Selah) 4I will establish your seed forever And build up your throne to all generations." Selah.
O LORD, the heavens praise your amazing deeds, as well as your faithfulness in the angelic assembly. 5The heavens will praise Your wonders, O LORD; Your faithfulness also in the assembly of the holy ones.
For who in the skies can compare to the LORD? Who is like the LORD among the heavenly beings, 6For who in the skies is comparable to the LORD? Who among the sons of the mighty is like the LORD,
a God who is honored in the great angelic assembly, and more awesome than all who surround him? 7A God greatly feared in the council of the holy ones, And awesome above all those who are around Him?
O LORD, sovereign God! Who is strong like you, O LORD? Your faithfulness surrounds you. 8O LORD God of hosts, who is like You, O mighty LORD? Your faithfulness also surrounds You.
You rule over the proud sea. When its waves surge, you calm them. 9You rule the swelling of the sea; When its waves rise, You still them.
You crushed the Proud One and killed it; with your strong arm you scattered your enemies. 10You Yourself crushed Rahab like one who is slain; You scattered Your enemies with Your mighty arm.
The heavens belong to you, as does the earth. You made the world and all it contains. 11The heavens are Yours, the earth also is Yours; The world and all it contains, You have founded them.
You created the north and the south. Tabor and Hermon rejoice in your name. 12The north and the south, You have created them; Tabor and Hermon shout for joy at Your name.
Your arm is powerful, your hand strong, your right hand victorious. 13You have a strong arm; Your hand is mighty, Your right hand is exalted.
Equity and justice are the foundation of your throne. Loyal love and faithfulness characterize your rule. 14Righteousness and justice are the foundation of Your throne; Lovingkindness and truth go before You.
How blessed are the people who worship you! O LORD, they experience your favor. 15How blessed are the people who know the joyful sound! O LORD, they walk in the light of Your countenance.
They rejoice in your name all day long, and are vindicated by your justice. 16In Your name they rejoice all the day, And by Your righteousness they are exalted.
For you give them splendor and strength. By your favor we are victorious. 17For You are the glory of their strength, And by Your favor our horn is exalted.
For our shield belongs to the LORD, our king to the Holy One of Israel. 18For our shield belongs to the LORD, And our king to the Holy One of Israel.
Then you spoke through a vision to your faithful followers and said: "I have energized a warrior; I have raised up a young man from the people. 19Once You spoke in vision to Your godly ones, And said, "I have given help to one who is mighty; I have exalted one chosen from the people.
I have discovered David, my servant. With my holy oil I have anointed him as king. 20"I have found David My servant; With My holy oil I have anointed him,
My hand will support him, and my arm will strengthen him. 21With whom My hand will be established; My arm also will strengthen him.
No enemy will be able to exact tribute from him; a violent oppressor will not be able to humiliate him. 22"The enemy will not deceive him, Nor the son of wickedness afflict him.
I will crush his enemies before him; I will strike down those who hate him. 23"But I shall crush his adversaries before him, And strike those who hate him.
He will experience my faithfulness and loyal love, and by my name he will win victories. 24"My faithfulness and My lovingkindness will be with him, And in My name his horn will be exalted.
I will place his hand over the sea, his right hand over the rivers. 25"I shall also set his hand on the sea And his right hand on the rivers.
He will call out to me, 'You are my father, my God, and the protector who delivers me.' 26"He will cry to Me, 'You are my Father, My God, and the rock of my salvation.'
I will appoint him to be my firstborn son, the most exalted of the earth's kings. 27"I also shall make him My firstborn, The highest of the kings of the earth.
I will always extend my loyal love to him, and my covenant with him is secure. 28"My lovingkindness I will keep for him forever, And My covenant shall be confirmed to him.
I will give him an eternal dynasty, and make his throne as enduring as the skies above. 29"So I will establish his descendants forever And his throne as the days of heaven.
If his sons reject my law and disobey my regulations, 30"If his sons forsake My law And do not walk in My judgments,
if they break my rules and do not keep my commandments, 31If they violate My statutes And do not keep My commandments,
I will punish their rebellion by beating them with a club, their sin by inflicting them with bruises. 32Then I will punish their transgression with the rod And their iniquity with stripes.
But I will not remove my loyal love from him, nor be unfaithful to my promise. 33"But I will not break off My lovingkindness from him, Nor deal falsely in My faithfulness.
I will not break my covenant or go back on what I promised. 34"My covenant I will not violate, Nor will I alter the utterance of My lips.
Once and for all I have vowed by my own holiness, I will never deceive David. 35"Once I have sworn by My holiness; I will not lie to David.
His dynasty will last forever. His throne will endure before me, like the sun, 36"His descendants shall endure forever And his throne as the sun before Me.
it will remain stable, like the moon, his throne will endure like the skies." (Selah) 37"It shall be established forever like the moon, And the witness in the sky is faithful." Selah.
But you have spurned and rejected him; you are angry with your chosen king. 38But You have cast off and rejected, You have been full of wrath against Your anointed.
You have repudiated your covenant with your servant; you have thrown his crown to the ground. 39You have spurned the covenant of Your servant; You have profaned his crown in the dust.
You have broken down all his walls; you have made his strongholds a heap of ruins. 40You have broken down all his walls; You have brought his strongholds to ruin.
All who pass by have robbed him; he has become an object of disdain to his neighbors. 41All who pass along the way plunder him; He has become a reproach to his neighbors.
You have allowed his adversaries to be victorious, and all his enemies to rejoice. 42You have exalted the right hand of his adversaries; You have made all his enemies rejoice.
You turn back his sword from the adversary, and have not sustained him in battle. 43You also turn back the edge of his sword And have not made him stand in battle.
You have brought to an end his splendor, and have knocked his throne to the ground. 44You have made his splendor to cease And cast his throne to the ground.
You have cut short his youth, and have covered him with shame. (Selah) 45You have shortened the days of his youth; You have covered him with shame. Selah.
How long, O LORD, will this last? Will you remain hidden forever? Will your anger continue to burn like fire? 46How long, O LORD? Will You hide Yourself forever? Will Your wrath burn like fire?
Take note of my brief lifespan! Why do you make all people so mortal? 47Remember what my span of life is; For what vanity You have created all the sons of men!
No man can live on without experiencing death, or deliver his life from the power of Sheol. (Selah) 48What man can live and not see death? Can he deliver his soul from the power of Sheol? Selah.
Where are your earlier faithful deeds, O Lord, the ones performed in accordance with your reliable oath to David? 49Where are Your former lovingkindnesses, O Lord, Which You swore to David in Your faithfulness?
Take note, O Lord, of the way your servants are taunted, and of how I must bear so many insults from people! 50Remember, O Lord, the reproach of Your servants; How I bear in my bosom the reproach of all the many peoples,
Your enemies, O LORD, hurl insults; they insult your chosen king as they dog his footsteps. 51With which Your enemies have reproached, O LORD, With which they have reproached the footsteps of Your anointed.
The LORD deserves praise forevermore! We agree! We agree! 52Blessed be the LORD forever! Amen and Amen.
