The Mountain of the House of Yahweh
(Micah 4:1–5)
1 הַדָּבָר֙ (The word) אֲשֶׁ֣ר (that) חָזָ֔ה (saw) יְשַֽׁעְיָ֖הוּ (Isaiah) בֶּן־ (son) אָמ֑וֹץ (of Amoz) עַל־ (concerning) יְהוּדָ֖ה (Judah) וִירוּשָׁלִָֽם׃ (and Jerusalem):
2 וְהָיָ֣ה׀ (And it shall come to pass) בְּאַחֲרִ֣ית (at the end) הַיָּמִ֗ים (of the days),
נָכ֨וֹן (established) יִֽהְיֶ֜ה (will be) הַ֤ר (the mountain) בֵּית־ (of the house) יְהוָה֙ (of YHWH)
בְּרֹ֣אשׁ (at the top) הֶהָרִ֔ים (of the mountains),
וְנִשָּׂ֖א (and it will be lifted up) מִגְּבָע֑וֹת (above the hills)
וְנָהֲר֥וּ (and will flow) אֵלָ֖יו (to it) כָּל־ (all) הַגּוֹיִֽם׃ (the nations).
3 וְֽהָלְכ֞וּ (And will come) עַמִּ֣ים (people) רַבִּ֗ים (many) וְאָמְרוּ֙ (and say),
לְכ֣וּ׀ (Come) וְנַעֲלֶ֣ה (and let us go up) אֶל־ (to) הַר־ (the mountain) יְהוָ֗ה (of YHWH),
אֶל־ (to) בֵּית֙ (the house) אֱלֹהֵ֣י (of the God) יַעֲקֹ֔ב (of Jacob).
וְיֹרֵ֙נוּ֙ (And He will teach us) מִדְּרָכָ֔יו (His ways),
וְנֵלְכָ֖ה (and we will walk) בְּאֹרְחֹתָ֑יו (in His paths).
כִּ֤י (For) מִצִּיּוֹן֙ (from Zion) תֵּצֵ֣א (will go forth) תוֹרָ֔ה (the law),
וּדְבַר־ (and the Word) יְהוָ֖ה (of YHWH) מִירוּשָׁלִָֽם׃ (from Jerusalem).
4 וְשָׁפַט֙ (And He will judge) בֵּ֣ין (between) הַגּוֹיִ֔ם (the nations)
וְהוֹכִ֖יחַ (and will give rebuke) לְעַמִּ֣ים (to peoples) רַבִּ֑ים (many),
וְכִתְּת֨וּ (and they will beat) חַרְבוֹתָ֜ם (their swords) לְאִתִּ֗ים (into plowshares),
וַחֲנִיתֽוֹתֵיהֶם֙ (and their spears) לְמַזְמֵר֔וֹת (into pruning hooks).
לֹא־ (Not) יִשָּׂ֨א (will lift up) ג֤וֹי (nation) אֶל־ (against) גּוֹי֙ (nation) חֶ֔רֶב (a sword),
וְלֹא־ (and not) יִלְמְד֥וּ (will they learn) ע֖וֹד (any more) מִלְחָמָֽה׃פ (war).
The Day of Reckoning
5 בֵּ֖ית (O House) יַעֲקֹ֑ב (of Jacob), לְכ֥וּ (come),
וְנֵלְכָ֖ה (and let us walk) בְּא֥וֹר (in the light) יְהוָֽה׃ (of YHWH).
6 כִּ֣י (For) נָטַ֗שְׁתָּה (You have left) עַמְּךָ֙ (Your people),
בֵּ֣ית (the house) יַעֲקֹ֔ב (of Jacob),
כִּ֤י (because) מָלְאוּ֙ (they are filled)
מִקֶּ֔דֶם (from the east),
וְעֹֽנְנִ֖ים (and they practice divination) כַּפְּלִשְׁתִּ֑ים (like the Philistines),
וּבְיַלְדֵ֥י (and with the sons) נָכְרִ֖ים (of foreigners) יַשְׂפִּֽיקוּ׃ (they strike hands).
7 וַתִּמָּלֵ֤א (And is full) אַרְצוֹ֙ (its land) כֶּ֣סֶף (of silver) וְזָהָ֔ב (and gold),
וְאֵ֥ין (and there is no) קֵ֖צֶה (end) לְאֹצְרֹתָ֑יו (to the treasure),
וַתִּמָּלֵ֤א (and is full) אַרְצוֹ֙ (its land) סוּסִ֔ים (of horses),
וְאֵ֥ין (and there is no) קֵ֖צֶה (end) לְמַרְכְּבֹתָֽיו׃ (to the chariots).
8 וַתִּמָּלֵ֥א (And is full) אַרְצ֖וֹ (its land) אֱלִילִ֑ים (of idols);
לְמַעֲשֵׂ֤ה (to the work) יָדָיו֙ (of the hands) יִֽשְׁתַּחֲו֔וּ (they bow down)—
לַאֲשֶׁ֥ר (to that which) עָשׂ֖וּ (have made) אֶצְבְּעֹתָֽיו׃ (its fingers).
9 וַיִּשַּׁ֥ח (And is bent down) אָדָ֖ם (mankind)
וַיִּשְׁפַּל־ (and abases himself) אִ֑ישׁ (each man);
וְאַל־ (do not) תִּשָּׂ֖א (forgive) לָהֶֽם׃ (them).
10 בּ֣וֹא (Enter) בַצּ֔וּר (into the rock)
וְהִטָּמֵ֖ן (and hide yourself) בֶּֽעָפָ֑ר (in the dust),
מִפְּנֵי֙ (from) פַּ֣חַד (the dread) יְהוָ֔ה (of YHWH)
וּמֵהֲדַ֖ר (and from the glory) גְּאֹנֽוֹ׃ (of His majesty).
11 עֵינֵ֞י (The eyes) גַּבְה֤וּת (of the haughtiness) אָדָם֙ (of man) שָׁפֵ֔ל (will be brought low),
וְשַׁ֖ח (and will be bent down) ר֣וּם (the loftiness) אֲנָשִׁ֑ים (of men).
וְנִשְׂגַּ֧ב (And will be exalted) יְהוָ֛ה (YHWH) לְבַדּ֖וֹ (alone) בַּיּ֥וֹם (in the day) הַהֽוּא׃ס (that).
12 כִּ֣י (For) י֞וֹם (the day) לַיהוָ֧ה (of YHWH of) צְבָא֛וֹת (hosts)
עַ֥ל (is upon) כָּל־ (everything) גֵּאֶ֖ה (proud) וָרָ֑ם (and lofty),
וְעַ֖ל (and upon) כָּל־ (everything) נִשָּׂ֥א (lifted up),
וְשָׁפֵֽל׃ (and it will be brought low).
13 וְעַל֙ (And upon) כָּל־ (all) אַרְזֵ֣י (the cedars) הַלְּבָנ֔וֹן (of Lebanon), הָרָמִ֖ים (those being high) וְהַנִּשָּׂאִ֑ים (and lifted up),
וְעַ֖ל (and upon) כָּל־ (all) אַלּוֹנֵ֥י (the Oaks) הַבָּשָֽׁן׃ (of Bashan),
14 וְעַ֖ל (and upon) כָּל־ (all) הֶהָרִ֣ים (the mountains) הָרָמִ֑ים (that are high),
וְעַ֖ל (and upon) כָּל־ (all) הַגְּבָע֥וֹת (the hills) הַנִּשָּׂאֽוֹת׃ (that are lifted up),
15 וְעַ֖ל (and upon) כָּל־ (every) מִגְדָּ֣ל (tower) גָּבֹ֑הַ (high),
וְעַ֖ל (and upon) כָּל־ (every) חוֹמָ֥ה (wall) בְצוּרָֽה׃ (fortified),
16 וְעַ֖ל (and upon) כָּל־ (all) אֳנִיּ֣וֹת (the ships) תַּרְשִׁ֑ישׁ (of Tarshish),
וְעַ֖ל (and upon) כָּל־ (all) שְׂכִיּ֥וֹת (the vessels) הַחֶמְדָּֽה׃ (desirable).
17 וְשַׁח֙ (And will be bent down) גַּבְה֣וּת (the haughtiness) הָאָדָ֔ם (of man),
וְשָׁפֵ֖ל (and will be brought low) ר֣וּם (the loftiness) אֲנָשִׁ֑ים (of men),
וְנִשְׂגַּ֧ב (and will be exalted) יְהוָ֛ה (YHWH) לְבַדּ֖וֹ (alone) בַּיּ֥וֹם (in the day) הַהֽוּא׃ (that).
18 וְהָאֱלִילִ֖ים (And the idols) כָּלִ֥יל (utterly) יַחֲלֹֽף׃ (will pass away).
19 וּבָ֙אוּ֙ (And they will go) בִּמְעָר֣וֹת (into the caves) צֻרִ֔ים (of rocks),
וּבִמְחִלּ֖וֹת (and into the holes) עָפָ֑ר (of the earth),
מִפְּנֵ֞י (from the face) פַּ֤חַד (of the dread) יְהוָה֙ (of YHWH)
וּמֵהֲדַ֣ר (and the glory) גְּאוֹנ֔וֹ (of His majesty),
בְּקוּמ֖וֹ (in His rising) לַעֲרֹ֥ץ (to shake) הָאָֽרֶץ׃ (the earth).
20 בַּיּ֤וֹם (In the day) הַהוּא֙ (that) יַשְׁלִ֣יךְ (will throw away) הָאָדָ֔ם (man) אֵ֚ת (-)
אֱלִילֵ֣י (the idols) כַסְפּ֔וֹ (of his silver) וְאֵ֖ת (and) אֱלִילֵ֣י (idols) זְהָב֑וֹ (of his gold),
אֲשֶׁ֤ר (which) עָֽשׂוּ־ (they made) לוֹ֙ (each for himself)
לְהִֽשְׁתַּחֲוֺ֔ת (to bow down), לַחְפֹּ֥ר (to diggers) פֵּר֖וֹת (of holes) וְלָעֲטַלֵּפִֽים׃ (and to the bats),
21 לָבוֹא֙ (to go) בְּנִקְר֣וֹת (into the crevices) הַצֻּרִ֔ים (of the rocks),
וּבִסְעִפֵ֖י (and into the clefts) הַסְּלָעִ֑ים (of the cliffs),
מִפְּנֵ֞י (before the face) פַּ֤חַד (of the dread) יְהוָה֙ (of YHWH) וּמֵהֲדַ֣ר (and the glory) גְּאוֹנ֔וֹ (of His majesty),
בְּקוּמ֖וֹ (in His rising) לַעֲרֹ֥ץ (to shake) הָאָֽרֶץ׃ (the earth).
22 חִדְל֤וּ (Cease) לָכֶם֙ (yourselves) מִן־ (from) הָ֣אָדָ֔ם (man)
אֲשֶׁ֥ר (whose) נְשָׁמָ֖ה (breath is) בְּאַפּ֑וֹ (in his nostril),
כִּֽי־ (for) בַמֶּ֥ה (of what) נֶחְשָׁ֖ב (account) הֽוּא׃פ (is he).
