1	"Then the Kingdom of Heaven will be likened to ten virgins, who, taking their lamps, went forth to meet the bridegroom.	“Then the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went to meet the bridegroom.	“At that time the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom.
2	And five of them were foolish, and five wise;	Five of them were foolish, and five were wise.	Five of them were foolish and five were wise.
3	for the foolish, taking their lamps, did not take oil with them;	For when the foolish took their lamps, they took no oil with them,	The foolish ones took their lamps but did not take any oil with them.
4	but the wise took oil in the vessels with their lamps.	but the wise took flasks of oil with their lamps.	The wise ones, however, took oil in jars along with their lamps.
5	Now, the bridegroom tarrying, they all became drowsy, and were sleeping;	As the bridegroom was delayed, they all became drowsy and slept.	The bridegroom was a long time in coming, and they all became drowsy and fell asleep.
6	but at midnight a cry has been made, 'Behold, the bridegroom! Come ye forth to meet him!'	But at midnight there was a cry, ‘Here is the bridegroom! Come out to meet him.’	“At midnight the cry rang out: ‘Here’s the bridegroom! Come out to meet him!’
7	"Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.	Then all those virgins rose and trimmed their lamps.	“Then all the virgins woke up and trimmed their lamps.
8	And the foolish said to the wise, 'Give us of your oil, because our lamps are going out.'	And the foolish said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’	The foolish ones said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil; our lamps are going out.’
9	But the wise answered, saying, 'Perhaps there will not be enough for us and you; go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.'	But the wise answered, saying, ‘Since there will not be enough for us and for you, go rather to the dealers and buy for yourselves.’	“’No,’ they replied, ‘there may not be enough for both us and you. Instead, go to those who sell oil and buy some for yourselves.’
10	And, while they were going away to buy, the bridegroom came, and the ready ones went in with him to the marriage feast; and the door was shut.	And while they were going to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the marriage feast, and the door was shut.	“But while they were on their way to buy the oil, the bridegroom arrived. The virgins who were ready went in with him to the wedding banquet. And the door was shut.
11	"And afterward come also the remaining virgins, saying, 'Lord, Lord, open to us!'	Afterward the other virgins came also, saying, ‘Lord, lord, open to us.’	“Later the others also came. ‘Lord, Lord,’ they said, ‘open the door for us!’
12	But he, answering, said, 'Verily I say to you, I know you not.'	But he answered, ‘Truly, I say to you, I do not know you.’	“But he replied, ‘Truly I tell you, I don’t know you.’
13	Watch, therefore, because ye know not the day, nor the hour!	Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour.	“Therefore keep watch, because you do not know the day or the hour.
14	"For it is as when a man, going abroad, called his own servants, and delivered to them his goods:	“For it will be like a man going on a journey, who called his servants and entrusted to them his property.	“Again, it will be like a man going on a journey, who called his servants and entrusted his wealth to them.
15	and to one, indeed, he gave five talents; and to another, two; and to another, one—to each according to his own ability; and he went abroad.	To one he gave five talents, to another two, to another one, to each according to his ability. Then he went away.	To one he gave five bags of gold, to another two bags, and to another one bag, each according to his ability. Then he went on his journey.
16	"Straightway the one receiving the five talents, going, traded with them, and gained five others.	He who had received the five talents went at once and traded with them, and he made five talents more.	The man who had received five bags of gold went at once and put his money to work and gained five bags more.
17	Likewise he also who received two gained other two.	So also he who had the two talents made two talents more.	So also, the one with two bags of gold gained two more.
18	And he who received one, going away, digged in the earth, and hid his lord's money.	But he who had received the one talent went and dug in the ground and hid his master’s money.	But the man who had received one bag went off, dug a hole in the ground and hid his master’s money.
19	And, after a long time, the lord of those servants comes, and makes a reckoning with them.	Now after a long time the master of those servants came and settled accounts with them.	“After a long time the master of those servants returned and settled accounts with them.
20	And the one who received the five talents, coming near brought other five talents, saying, 'Lord, you delivered to me five talents; behold, I gained other five talents.'	And he who had received the five talents came forward, bringing five talents more, saying, ‘Master, you delivered to me five talents; here, I have made five talents more.’	The man who had received five bags of gold brought the other five. ‘Master,’ he said, ‘you entrusted me with five bags of gold. See, I have gained five more.’
21	His lord said to him, 'Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will set you over many; enter into the joy of your lord.'	His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.’	“His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’
22	"He also, who received the two talents, coming near, said, 'You delivered to me two talents; behold, I gained other two talents.'	And he also who had the two talents came forward, saying, ‘Master, you delivered to me two talents; here, I have made two talents more.’	“The man with two bags of gold also came. ‘Master,’ he said, ‘you entrusted me with two bags of gold; see, I have gained two more.’
23	His lord said to him, 'Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things; I will set you over many things: enter into the joy of your lord.'	His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.’	“His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’
24	And he who received the one talent, coming near said, 'Lord, I knew you, that you are a hard man; reaping where you did not sow, and gathering where you did not scatter;	He also who had received the one talent came forward, saying, ‘Master, I knew you to be a hard man, reaping where you did not sow, and gathering where you scattered no seed,	“Then the man who had received one bag of gold came. ‘Master,’ he said, ‘I knew that you are a hard man, harvesting where you have not sown and gathering where you have not scattered seed.
25	and, being afraid, going away, I hid your talent in the earth: behold, you have your own.'	so I was afraid, and I went and hid your talent in the ground. Here, you have what is yours.’	So I was afraid and went out and hid your gold in the ground. See, here is what belongs to you.’
26	But his lord, answering, said to him, 'Wicked and slothful servant! You knew that I reap where I did not sow, and gather where I did not scatter.	But his master answered him, ‘You wicked and slothful servant! You knew that I reap where I have not sown and gather where I scattered no seed?	“His master replied, ‘You wicked, lazy servant! So you knew that I harvest where I have not sown and gather where I have not scattered seed?
27	It behooved you, therefore, to put my money to the bankers; and, at my coming, I would have received my own with interest.	Then you ought to have invested my money with the bankers, and at my coming I should have received what was my own with interest.	Well then, you should have put my money on deposit with the bankers, so that when I returned I would have received it back with interest.
28	Take from him, therefore, the talent, and give it to him who has the ten talents.'	So take the talent from him and give it to him who has the ten talents.	“’So take the bag of gold from him and give it to the one who has ten bags.
29	For, to every one that has, shall be given, and he shall be made to abound; but from him that has not shall be taken away even what he has;	For to everyone who has will more be given, and he will have an abundance. But from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away.	For whoever has will be given more, and they will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what they have will be taken from them.
30	and cast out the unprofitable servant into the outer darkness: there will be the weeping, and the gnashing of teeth!	And cast the worthless servant into the outer darkness. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’	And throw that worthless servant outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’
31	"And, when the Son of man cometh in His glory, and all the angels with Him, then will He sit on the throne of His glory;	“When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit on his glorious throne.	“When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his glorious throne.
32	and there will be gathered before Him all the nations; and He will separate them one from another, as the shepherd separates the sheep from the goats;	Before him will be gathered all the nations, and he will separate people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats.	All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats.
33	and He will set the sheep, indeed, on His right hand, but the goats on the left.	And he will place the sheep on his right, but the goats on the left.	He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.
34	"Then will the King say to those on His right hand, 'Come, ye blessed of My Father! inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the founding of the world:	Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.	“Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world.
35	for I hungered, and ye gave Me to eat; I thirsted, and ye gave Me drink; I was a stranger, and ye took Me in;	For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me,	For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in,
36	naked, and ye clothed Me; I was sick, and ye looked after Me; I was in prison, and ye came to Me.'	I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’	I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’
37	"Then will the righteous answer Him, saying, 'Lord, when did we see Thee hungering, and fed Thee? or thirsting, and gave Thee drink?	Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink?	“Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink?
38	And when did we see Thee a stranger, and took Thee in; or naked, and clothed Thee?	And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you?	When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you?
39	And, when did we see Thee sick, or in prison, and came to Thee?'	And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’	When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’
40	"And, answering, the King will say to them, 'Verily I say to you, inasmuch as ye did it to one of My brethren, even the least, ye did it to Me.'	And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’	“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’
41	Then will He say also to those on the left hand, 'Depart from Me, ye accursed! into the eternal fire which was prepared for the Devil and his angels;	“Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.	“Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.
42	for I hungered, and ye did not give Me to eat; I thirsted, and ye gave Me no drink;	For I was hungry and you gave me no food, I was thirsty and you gave me no drink,	For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink,
43	I was a stranger, and ye took Me not in; naked, and ye did not clothe Me; sick, and in prison, and ye did not look after Me.'	I was a stranger and you did not welcome me, naked and you did not clothe me, sick and in prison and you did not visit me.’	I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’
44	"Then will they also answer, saying, 'Lord, when did we see Thee hungering, or thirsting, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister to Thee?'	Then they also will answer, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to you?’	“They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’
45	"Then will He answer them, saying, 'Verily I say to you, inasmuch as ye did it not to one of these least, ye did it not to Me!'	Then he will answer them, saying, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to me.’	“He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’
46	"And these shall go away into age-lasting punishment, but the righteous into age-lasting life."	And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”	“Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.”
