1	THEN the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins, who took their lamps, and went out to greet the bridegroom and the bride.	“Then the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went to meet the bridegroom.	“At that time the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom.
2	Five of them were wise, and five were foolish.	Five of them were foolish, and five were wise.	Five of them were foolish and five were wise.
3	And the foolish ones took their lamps, but took no oil with them.	For when the foolish took their lamps, they took no oil with them,	The foolish ones took their lamps but did not take any oil with them.
4	But the wise ones took oil in the vessels with their lamps.	but the wise took flasks of oil with their lamps.	The wise ones, however, took oil in jars along with their lamps.
5	As the bridegroom was delayed, they all slumbered and slept.	As the bridegroom was delayed, they all became drowsy and slept.	The bridegroom was a long time in coming, and they all became drowsy and fell asleep.
6	And at midnight there was a cry, Behold, the bridegroom is coming; go out to greet him.	But at midnight there was a cry, ‘Here is the bridegroom! Come out to meet him.’	“At midnight the cry rang out: ‘Here’s the bridegroom! Come out to meet him!’
7	Then all the virgins got up and fixed their lamps.	Then all those virgins rose and trimmed their lamps.	“Then all the virgins woke up and trimmed their lamps.
8	And the foolish ones said to the wise ones, Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.	And the foolish said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’	The foolish ones said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil; our lamps are going out.’
9	Then the wise ones answered and said, Why, there would not be enough for us and for you; go to those who sell and buy for yourselves.	But the wise answered, saying, ‘Since there will not be enough for us and for you, go rather to the dealers and buy for yourselves.’	“’No,’ they replied, ‘there may not be enough for both us and you. Instead, go to those who sell oil and buy some for yourselves.’
10	And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and those who were ready entered with him into the wedding house, and the door was locked.	And while they were going to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the marriage feast, and the door was shut.	“But while they were on their way to buy the oil, the bridegroom arrived. The virgins who were ready went in with him to the wedding banquet. And the door was shut.
11	Afterward the other virgins also came and said, Our lord, our lord, open to us.	Afterward the other virgins came also, saying, ‘Lord, lord, open to us.’	“Later the others also came. ‘Lord, Lord,’ they said, ‘open the door for us!’
12	But he answered and said to them, Truly I say to you, I do not know you.	But he answered, ‘Truly, I say to you, I do not know you.’	“But he replied, ‘Truly I tell you, I don’t know you.’
13	Be alert, therefore, for you do not know, that day nor the hour.	Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour.	“Therefore keep watch, because you do not know the day or the hour.
14	It is just like a man who went on a journey, who called his servants and put his wealth in their charge.	“For it will be like a man going on a journey, who called his servants and entrusted to them his property.	“Again, it will be like a man going on a journey, who called his servants and entrusted his wealth to them.
15	To one he gave five talents, to one two, to another one; to each one according to his ability; and immediately he went on a journey.	To one he gave five talents, to another two, to another one, to each according to his ability. Then he went away.	To one he gave five bags of gold, to another two bags, and to another one bag, each according to his ability. Then he went on his journey.
16	The one who received five talents then went and traded with them, and he earned five others.	He who had received the five talents went at once and traded with them, and he made five talents more.	The man who had received five bags of gold went at once and put his money to work and gained five bags more.
17	Likewise the second one, he gained by trading gained two others.	So also he who had the two talents made two talents more.	So also, the one with two bags of gold gained two more.
18	But he who received one, went and dug in the ground, and hid his lord’s money.	But he who had received the one talent went and dug in the ground and hid his master’s money.	But the man who had received one bag went off, dug a hole in the ground and hid his master’s money.
19	After a long time, the lord of those servants returned, and took an accounting from them.	Now after a long time the master of those servants came and settled accounts with them.	“After a long time the master of those servants returned and settled accounts with them.
20	Then the one who received five talents came up, and offered five others, and he said, My lord, you gave me five talents; behold, I have gained five others to them.	And he who had received the five talents came forward, bringing five talents more, saying, ‘Master, you delivered to me five talents; here, I have made five talents more.’	The man who had received five bags of gold brought the other five. ‘Master,’ he said, ‘you entrusted me with five bags of gold. See, I have gained five more.’
21	His lord said to him, Well done, good and reliable servant; you have been faithful over a little, I will appoint you over much; enter into your master’s joy.	His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.’	“His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’
22	Then the one with the two talents came and he said, My lord, you gave me two talents, behold I have gained two others to them.	And he also who had the two talents came forward, saying, ‘Master, you delivered to me two talents; here, I have made two talents more.’	“The man with two bags of gold also came. ‘Master,’ he said, ‘you entrusted me with two bags of gold; see, I have gained two more.’
23	His lord said to him, Well done, good and reliable servant, you have been faithful over a little, I will appoint you over much; enter into your master’s joy.	His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.’	“His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’
24	Then the one who received one talent also came up, and he said, My lord, I knew that you are a hard man, and you reap where you did not sow, and gather where you did not scatter.	He also who had received the one talent came forward, saying, ‘Master, I knew you to be a hard man, reaping where you did not sow, and gathering where you scattered no seed,	“Then the man who had received one bag of gold came. ‘Master,’ he said, ‘I knew that you are a hard man, harvesting where you have not sown and gathering where you have not scattered seed.
25	So I was afraid, and I went and hid your talent in the ground; here it is, it is your own one.	so I was afraid, and I went and hid your talent in the ground. Here, you have what is yours.’	So I was afraid and went out and hid your gold in the ground. See, here is what belongs to you.’
26	His lord answered and said to him, O wicked and lazy servant, you knew me that I reap where I did not sow, and I gather where I did not scatter.	But his master answered him, ‘You wicked and slothful servant! You knew that I reap where I have not sown and gather where I scattered no seed?	“His master replied, ‘You wicked, lazy servant! So you knew that I harvest where I have not sown and gather where I have not scattered seed?
27	You should then have put my money in the exchange, and when I returned I would have demanded my own with interest.	Then you ought to have invested my money with the bankers, and at my coming I should have received what was my own with interest.	Well then, you should have put my money on deposit with the bankers, so that when I returned I would have received it back with interest.
28	Therefore take away the talent from him, and give it to the one who has ten talents.	So take the talent from him and give it to him who has the ten talents.	“’So take the bag of gold from him and give it to the one who has ten bags.
29	For to him who has, it shall he given, and it shall increase to him; but he who has not, even that which he has shall be taken away from him.	For to everyone who has will more be given, and he will have an abundance. But from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away.	For whoever has will be given more, and they will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what they have will be taken from them.
30	And the idle servant they threw into the outer darkness; there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.	And cast the worthless servant into the outer darkness. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’	And throw that worthless servant outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’
31	When the Son of man comes in his glory, and all his holy angels with him, then he will sit upon the throne of his glory.	“When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit on his glorious throne.	“When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his glorious throne.
32	And all nations will gather before him; and he will separate them one from another, just as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats;	Before him will be gathered all the nations, and he will separate people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats.	All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats.
33	And he will set the sheep at his right, and the goats at his left.	And he will place the sheep on his right, but the goats on the left.	He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.
34	Then the King will say to those at his right, Come, you blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom which has been prepared for you from the foundation of the world.	Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.	“Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world.
35	For I was hungry, and you gave me to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave me to drink; I was a stranger and you took me in;	For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me,	For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in,
36	I was naked, and you covered me; I was sick, and you visited me; I was in prison, and you came to me.	I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’	I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’
37	Then the righteous will say to him, Our Lord, when did we see you hungry, and feed you? or thirsty and gave you drink?	Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink?	“Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink?
38	And when did we see you a stranger, and took you in? Or that you were naked, and covered you?	And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you?	When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you?
39	And when did we see you sick, or in the prison, and come to you?	And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’	When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’
40	The king then will answer and say to them, Truly I tell you, Inasmuch as you have done it to one of these least brethren, you did it to me.	And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’	“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’
41	Then he will also say to those at his left, Go away from me, you cursed, to the everlasting fire, which is prepared for the adversary and his angels.	“Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.	“Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.
42	For I was hungry, and you did not give me to eat; I was thirsty, and you did not give me to drink;	For I was hungry and you gave me no food, I was thirsty and you gave me no drink,	For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink,
43	I was a stranger, and you did not take me in; I was naked, and you did not cover me; I was sick and in prison and you did not visit me.	I was a stranger and you did not welcome me, naked and you did not clothe me, sick and in prison and you did not visit me.’	I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’
44	Then they also will answer and say, Our lord, when did we see you hungry, or thirsty, or a stranger, or naked, or sick or in the prison, and did not minister to you?	Then they also will answer, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to you?’	“They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’
45	Then he will answer and say to them, Truly I say to you, Inasmuch as you did not do it to one of these least ones, you also did not do it to me.	Then he will answer them, saying, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to me.’	“He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’
46	And these shall go into everlasting torment, and the righteous into eternal life.	And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”	“Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.”
