Come to the wedding banquet.' |

You aren't swayed by others, because you pay no attention to who they are. |

| 23On that day some Sadducees (who say there is no resurrection) came to Jesus and questioned Him, | 23That same day the Sadducees, who say there is no resurrection, came to him with a question. |
| 24asking, "Teacher, Moses said, 'IF A MAN DIES HAVING NO CHILDREN, HIS BROTHER AS NEXT OF KIN SHALL MARRY HIS WIFE, AND RAISE UP CHILDREN FOR HIS BROTHER.' | 24"Teacher," they said, "Moses told us that if a man dies without having children, his brother must marry the widow and raise up offspring for him. |
| 25"Now there were seven brothers with us; and the first married and died, and having no children left his wife to his brother; | 25Now there were seven brothers among us. The first one married and died, and since he had no children, he left his wife to his brother. |
| 26so also the second, and the third, down to the seventh. | 26The same thing happened to the second and third brother, right on down to the seventh. |
| 27"Last of all, the woman died. | 27Finally, the woman died. |
| 28"In the resurrection, therefore, whose wife of the seven will she be? For they all had married her." | 28Now then, at the resurrection, whose wife will she be of the seven, since all of them were married to her?" |
| 29But Jesus answered and said to them, "You are mistaken, not understanding the Scriptures nor the power of God. | 29Jesus replied, "You are in error because you do not know the Scriptures or the power of God. |
| 30"For in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angels in heaven. | 30At the resurrection people will neither marry nor be given in marriage; they will be like the angels in heaven. |
| 31"But regarding the resurrection of the dead, have you not read what was spoken to you by God: | 31But about the resurrection of the dead--have you not read what God said to you, |
| 32'I AM THE GOD OF ABRAHAM, AND THE GOD OF ISAAC, AND THE GOD OF JACOB '? He is not the God of the dead but of the living." | 32I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob'? He is not the God of the dead but of the living." |

| 44'THE LORD SAID TO MY LORD, "SIT AT MY RIGHT HAND, UNTIL I PUT YOUR ENEMIES BENEATH YOUR FEET "'? | 44"'The Lord said to my Lord: "Sit at my right hand until I put your enemies under your feet."' |
| 45"If David then calls Him 'Lord,' how is He his son?" | 45If then David calls him 'Lord,' how can he be his son?" |
| 46No one was able to answer Him a word, nor did anyone dare from that day on to ask Him another question. | 46No one could say a word in reply, and from that day on no one dared to ask him any more questions. |
