Laws about Offerings

1And YHWH spoke to Moses, saying, 2“Speak to the sons of Israel and say to them: When you⁺ enter into the land you⁺ are to inhabit, which I am giving to you⁺, 3and you⁺ make a fire offering to YHWH, a burnt offering, or a sacrifice to fulfill a vow or as a freewill offering, or in your⁺ appointed feasts, to make a pleasing aroma to YHWH, from the herd or from the flock, 4then he who is bringing near his offering to YHWH shall bring a grain offering of fine flour, a tenth of an ephah, mixed with a fourth of a hin of oil. 5And wine as a drink offering, a fourth of a hin you shall prepare with the burnt offering or the sacrifice, for the one lamb.

6Or for a ram you shall prepare as a grain offering fine flour, two tenths of an ephah, mixed with the oil, a third of a hin. 7And wine as a drink offering, a third of a hin, you shall offer, a pleasing aroma to YHWH.

8And when you prepare a son of the herd as a burnt offering, or as a sacrifice to fulfill a vow, or as peace offerings to YHWH, 9then shall be offered with a son of the herd a grain offering of fine flour three tenths of an ephah, mixed with the oil, half a hin. 10And you shall bring wine as the drink offering, and half a hin as a fire offering, a pleasing aroma to YHWH. 11Thus it shall be done for one bull, or for one ram, or for a lamb of the sheep or young goat. 12By the number that you⁺ prepare, so you⁺ shall do for each one according to their number.

13All the native-born shall do in this manner these things in presenting a fire offering, a pleasing aroma to YHWH. 14And if a sojourner dwells with you⁺, or whoever is among you⁺ throughout your⁺ generations, and he would present a fire offering, a pleasing aroma to YHWH—as you⁺ do, so shall he do. 15One ordinance is for you⁺ of the assembly and for the sojourner who is sojourning, an everlasting ordinance throughout your⁺ generations. As you⁺ are, shall be the sojourner before the face of YHWH. 16One law and one ordinance shall be for you⁺ and for the sojourner who dwells with you⁺.”

17And YHWH again spoke to Moses, saying, 18“Speak to the sons of Israel and say to them: When you⁺ come into the land to which I bring you⁺, 19then it will be that when you⁺ eat of the bread of the land, you⁺ shall offer up a contribution to YHWH. 20From the first of your⁺ ground meal you⁺ shall offer up a cake as a contribution; as a contribution of the threshing floor, so shall you⁺ offer it up. 21Of the first of your⁺ ground meal you⁺ shall give to YHWH a contribution throughout your⁺ generations.

Offerings for Unintentional Sins

22And if you⁺ sin unintentionally and do not observe all these commandments that YHWH has spoken to Moses, 23all that YHWH has commanded to you⁺ by the hand of Moses, from the day that YHWH commanded and onward throughout your⁺ generations— 24then it will be, if away from the eyes of the congregation it is committed unintentionally, that all the congregation shall offer one bull, a son of the herd, as a burnt offering, for a pleasing aroma to YHWH, and with its grain offering and its drink offering according to the ordinance, and one kid of the goats as a sin offering.

25And the priest shall make atonement upon the whole congregation of the sons of Israel, and it shall be forgiven for them, for it was unintentional. And they shall bring their offerings, a fire offering to YHWH, and their sin offering, before the face of YHWH for their unintentional sin. 26And it shall be forgiven all the congregation of the sons of Israel, and the sojourner who dwells among them, because all the people did it unintentionally.

27And if one person sins unintentionally, he shall bring a female goat, a daughter of a year, as a sin offering. 28And the priest shall make atonement upon the person who sins unintentionally when he sins unintentionally before the face of YHWH, to make atonement upon him, and it shall be forgiven for him. 29For him who is native-born among the sons of Israel and for the sojourner who dwells among them, there shall be one law for him who sins unintentionally.

30And the person who does beguile by hand, whether he is native-born or a sojourner, he reviles YHWH; that person shall be cut off from among his people. 31Because he has despised the word of YHWH and has broken His commandment, that person shall surely be cut off; his guilt is upon him.”

A Sabbath-Breaker Stoned
(Exodus 31:12–17)

32And while the sons of Israel were in the wilderness, they found a man gathering sticks on the Sabbath day. 33And those who found him gathering sticks brought him to Moses and Aaron and to all the congregation. 34And they put him under guard, because it had not been explained what should be done to him.

35And YHWH said to Moses, “The man must surely be put to death; all the congregation shall stone him with stones outside the camp.”

36And all the congregation brought him to the outside of the camp, and stoned him with stones, and he died, as YHWH had commanded Moses.

The Law of Tassels

37And YHWH again spoke to Moses, saying, 38“Speak to the sons of Israel and tell them to make for themselves tassels on the corners of their garments throughout their generations, and to put in the tassels of the corners a blue thread. 39And you⁺ shall have the tassel, that you⁺ may look upon it and remember all the commandments of YHWH and do them, and that you⁺ do not follow after your⁺ own heart and your⁺ own eyes, after them to which you⁺ are inclined to prostitute yourselves.

40Then you⁺ will remember and do all My commandments, and you⁺ shall be holy unto your⁺ God. 41I am YHWH your⁺ God, who brought you⁺ out of the land of Egypt to be your⁺ God; I am YHWH your⁺ God.”
