Heaven Is My Throne

1  כֹּ֚ה (Thus) אָמַ֣ר (says) יְהוָ֔ה (YHWH),

הַשָּׁמַ֣יִם (The heavens are) כִּסְאִ֔י (My throne),

וְהָאָ֖רֶץ (and the earth is) הֲדֹ֣ם (the stool for) רַגְלָ֑י (My feet);

אֵי־ (Where is) זֶ֥ה (this) בַ֙יִת֙ (house) אֲשֶׁ֣ר (that) תִּבְנוּ־ (you⁺ will build) לִ֔י (for Me)

וְאֵי־ (and where is) זֶ֥ה (this) מָק֖וֹם (place) מְנוּחָתִֽי׃ (of My rest)?

2  וְאֶת־ (And) כָּל־ (all) אֵ֙לֶּה֙ (these things) יָדִ֣י (My own hand) עָשָׂ֔תָה (has made),

וַיִּהְי֥וּ (and have come to be), כָל־ (all) אֵ֖לֶּה (these things)

נְאֻם־ (a declaration) יְהוָ֑ה (of YHWH).

וְאֶל־ (And to) זֶ֣ה (this one) אַבִּ֔יט (I will look),

אֶל־ (to) עָנִי֙ (the poor) וּנְכֵה־ (and stricken one) ר֔וּחַ (in spirit),

וְחָרֵ֖ד (and who trembles) עַל־ (at) דְּבָרִֽי׃ (My word).

3  שׁוֹחֵ֨ט (The one slaughtering) הַשּׁ֜וֹר (an ox) מַכֵּה־ (strikes down) אִ֗ישׁ (a man);

זוֹבֵ֤חַ (the one sacrificing) הַשֶּׂה֙ (a lamb), עֹ֣רֵֽף (breaks the neck) כֶּ֔לֶב (a dog)

מַעֲלֵ֤ה (the one offering) מִנְחָה֙ (a grain offering), דַּם־ (offers the blood); חֲזִ֔יר (of a pig)

מַזְכִּ֥יר (the one burning) לְבֹנָ֖ה (incense), מְבָ֣רֵֽךְ (blesses) אָ֑וֶן (an idol).

גַּם־ (As), הֵ֗מָּה (they) בָּֽחֲרוּ֙ (have chosen) בְּדַרְכֵיהֶ֔ם (their own ways),

וּבְשִׁקּוּצֵיהֶ֖ם (and in their abominations) נַפְשָׁ֥ם (their soul) חָפֵֽצָה׃ (delights).

4  גַּם־ (Also) אֲנִ֞י (I) אֶבְחַ֣ר (will choose) בְּתַעֲלֻלֵיהֶ֗ם (their punishment),

וּמְגֽוּרֹתָם֙ (and their fears) אָבִ֣יא (I will bring) לָהֶ֔ם (upon them)

יַ֤עַן (because) קָרָ֙אתִי֙ (I called), וְאֵ֣ין (and no one) עוֹנֶ֔ה (answered);

דִּבַּ֖רְתִּי (I spoke), וְלֹ֣א (and no one) שָׁמֵ֑עוּ (listened).

וַיַּעֲשׂ֤וּ (And they did) הָרַע֙ (the evil) בְּעֵינַ֔י (in My eyes),

וּבַאֲשֶׁ֥ר (that in which) לֹֽא־ (not). חָפַ֖צְתִּי (I delighted) בָּחָֽרוּ׃ס (they chose).

5  שִׁמְעוּ֙ (Hear) דְּבַר־ (the word) יְהוָ֔ה (of YHWH),

הַחֲרֵדִ֖ים (you who tremble) אֶל־ (at) דְּבָר֑וֹ (His word);

אָמְרוּ֩ (have said), אֲחֵיכֶ֨ם (your⁺ brothers)

שֹׂנְאֵיכֶ֜ם (who hate you⁺) מְנַדֵּיכֶ֗ם (and casting you⁺ out) לְמַ֤עַן (for the sake) שְׁמִי֙ (of My name)

יִכְבַּ֣ד (Be glorified), יְהוָ֔ה (YHWH)

וְנִרְאֶ֥ה (that we might look) בְשִׂמְחַתְכֶ֖ם (on your⁺ joy),

וְהֵ֥ם (and they) יֵבֹֽשׁוּ׃ (will be put to shame).

6  ק֤וֹל (The voice) שָׁאוֹן֙ (of uproar) מֵעִ֔יר (from the city),

ק֖וֹל (a voice) מֵֽהֵיכָ֑ל (from the temple),

ק֣וֹל (it is the voice) יְהוָ֔ה (of YHWH)

מְשַׁלֵּ֥ם (repaying) גְּמ֖וּל (recompence) לְאֹיְבָֽיו׃ (to His enemies).

Rejoice with Jerusalem

7  בְּטֶ֥רֶם (Before) תָּחִ֖יל (she was writhing), יָלָ֑דָה (she gave birth);

בְּטֶ֨רֶם (before) יָב֥וֹא (came), חֵ֛בֶל (pain) לָ֖הּ (to her) וְהִמְלִ֥יטָה (then she delivered) זָכָֽר׃ (a male).

8  מִֽי־ (Who) שָׁמַ֣ע (has heard) כָּזֹ֗את (such as this)?

מִ֤י (Who) רָאָה֙ (has seen) כָּאֵ֔לֶּה (these things)?

הֲי֤וּחַל (Can be born) אֶ֙רֶץ֙ (a land) בְּי֣וֹם (in a day)? אֶחָ֔ד (Single)

אִם־ (Can) יִוָּ֥לֵֽד (can be born) גּ֖וֹי (a nation) פַּ֣עַם (in a moment) אֶחָ֑ת (single)?

כִּֽי־ (But as soon as) חָ֛לָה (she begain writhing in labor), גַּם־ (as soon as)

יָלְדָ֥ה (gave birth) צִיּ֖וֹן (Zion) אֶת־ (-) בָּנֶֽיהָ׃ (to her sons).

9  הַאֲנִ֥י (Will I) אַשְׁבִּ֛יר (break open), וְלֹ֥א (and not) אוֹלִ֖יד (deliver)?

יֹאמַ֣ר (Says) יְהוָ֑ה (YHWH).

אִם־ (Or) אֲנִ֧י (will I) הַמּוֹלִ֛יד (cause to bring forth), וְעָצַ֖רְתִּי (and shut up)

אָמַ֥ר (says) אֱלֹהָֽיִךְ׃ס (your God).

10  שִׂמְח֧וּ (Be glad) אֶת־ (with) יְרוּשָׁלִַ֛ם (Jerusalem), וְגִ֥ילוּ (and rejoice) בָ֖הּ (in her)

כָּל־ (all) אֹהֲבֶ֑יהָ (those loving her)

שִׂ֤ישׂוּ (Rejoice) אִתָּהּ֙ (with her) מָשׂ֔וֹשׂ (for joy)

כָּל־ (all) הַמִּֽתְאַבְּלִ֖ים (those mourning) עָלֶֽיהָ׃ (over her).

11  לְמַ֤עַן (So that) תִּֽינְקוּ֙ (you⁺ may nurse), וּשְׂבַעְתֶּ֔ם (and be satisfied)

מִשֹּׁ֖ד (from the breast) תַּנְחֻמֶ֑יהָ (of her consolation);

לְמַ֧עַן (that) תָּמֹ֛צּוּ (you⁺ may drink deeply), וְהִתְעַנַּגְתֶּ֖ם (and delight yourself)

מִזִּ֥יז (from the abundance) כְּבוֹדָֽהּ׃ס (of her glory).

12  כִּֽי־ (For) כֹ֣ה׀ (thus) אָמַ֣ר (says) יְהוָ֗ה (YHWH),

הִנְנִ֣י (Behold I am) נֹטֶֽה־ (stretching out) אֵ֠לֶיהָ (to her) כְּנָהָ֨ר (like a river), שָׁל֜וֹם (peace)

וּכְנַ֧חַל (and like a stream); שׁוֹטֵ֛ף (flowing) כְּב֥וֹד (the glory) גּוֹיִ֖ם (of the nations)

וִֽינַקְתֶּ֑ם (and you⁺ will suck), עַל־ (at) צַד֙ (her side), תִּנָּשֵׂ֔אוּ (you⁺ will be carried)

וְעַל־ (and on) בִּרְכַּ֖יִם (her knees) תְּשָׁעֳשָֽׁעוּ׃ (you⁺ will be dandled).

13  כְּאִ֕ישׁ (As one) אֲשֶׁ֥ר (whom) אִמּ֖וֹ (his mother) תְּנַחֲמֶ֑נּוּ (comforts),

כֵּ֤ן (so) אָֽנֹכִי֙ (I) אֲנַ֣חֶמְכֶ֔ם (will comfort you⁺)

וּבִירֽוּשָׁלִַ֖ם (and in Jerusalem) תְּנֻחָֽמוּ׃ (you⁺ will find comfort).

14  וּרְאִיתֶם֙ (And you⁺ will see) וְשָׂ֣שׂ (and will rejoice), לִבְּכֶ֔ם (your⁺ heart)

וְעַצְמוֹתֵיכֶ֖ם (and your⁺ bones) כַּדֶּ֣שֶׁא (like the grass); תִפְרַ֑חְנָה (will sprout)

וְנוֹדְעָ֤ה (and will be known) יַד־ (the hand) יְהוָה֙ (of YHWH) אֶת־ (to) עֲבָדָ֔יו (His servants),

וְזָעַ֖ם (and His indignation) אֶת־ (to) אֹיְבָֽיו׃ (His enemies).

Final Judgments against the Wicked

15  כִּֽי־ (For), הִנֵּ֤ה (behold), יְהוָה֙ (YHWH) בָּאֵ֣שׁ (with fire), יָב֔וֹא (will come)

וְכַסּוּפָ֖ה (and like a whirlwind), מַרְכְּבֹתָ֑יו (with His chariots)

לְהָשִׁ֤יב (to render) בְּחֵמָה֙ (the heat), אַפּ֔וֹ (of His nose)

וְגַעֲרָת֖וֹ (and His rebuke) בְּלַהֲבֵי־ (with flames) אֵֽשׁ׃ (of fire).

16  כִּ֤י (For) בָאֵשׁ֙ (by the fire) יְהוָ֣ה (YHWH)

נִשְׁפָּ֔ט (enters into judgment) וּבְחַרְבּ֖וֹ (and by His sword) אֶת־ (with) כָּל־ (all) בָּשָׂ֑ר (flesh),

וְרַבּ֖וּ (and will be many) חַֽלְלֵ֥י (those slain) יְהוָֽה׃ (by YHWH).

17  הַמִּתְקַדְּשִׁ֨ים (The ones consecrating), וְהַמִּֽטַּהֲרִ֜ים (and purifying themselves) אֶל־ (to) הַגַּנּ֗וֹת (the gardens) אַחַ֤ר (following after) אֶחָד (one) בַּתָּ֔וֶךְ (in the center), אֹֽכְלֵי֙ (eating) בְּשַׂ֣ר (the flesh), הַחֲזִ֔יר (of swine) וְהַשֶּׁ֖קֶץ (and the abomination), וְהָעַכְבָּ֑ר (and the rodent), יַחְדָּ֥ו (together), יָסֻ֖פוּ (they will come to an end) נְאֻם־ (a declaration) יְהוָֽה׃ (of YHWH).

18  וְאָנֹכִ֗י (And I) מַעֲשֵׂיהֶם֙ (their deeds) וּמַחְשְׁבֹ֣תֵיהֶ֔ם (and their thoughts); בָּאָ֕ה (I am coming), לְקַבֵּ֥ץ (to gather) אֶת־ (-) כָּל־ (all) הַגּוֹיִ֖ם (the nations) וְהַלְּשֹׁנ֑וֹת (and tongues); וּבָ֖אוּ (and they will come), וְרָא֥וּ (and see) אֶת־ (-) כְּבוֹדִֽי׃ (My glory).

19  וְשַׂמְתִּ֨י (And I will set) בָהֶ֜ם (among them) א֗וֹת (a sign) וְשִׁלַּחְתִּ֣י (and I will send) מֵהֶ֣ם׀ (from among them) פְּ֠לֵיטִים (survivors) אֶֽל־ (to) הַגּוֹיִ֞ם (the nations), תַּרְשִׁ֨ישׁ (to Tarshish), פּ֥וּל (and Pul), וְל֛וּד (and Lud), מֹ֥שְׁכֵי (who draw) קֶ֖שֶׁת (the bow), תֻּבַ֣ל (and Tubal), וְיָוָ֑ן (and Javan), הָאִיִּ֣ים (to the islands) הָרְחֹקִ֗ים (far away), אֲשֶׁ֨ר (who) לֹא־ (not) שָׁמְע֤וּ (they have heard) אֶת־ (-) שִׁמְעִי֙ (My name), וְלֹא־ (and not) רָא֣וּ (have seen) אֶת־ (-) כְּבוֹדִ֔י (My glory);

וְהִגִּ֥ידוּ (and they will declare) אֶת־ (-) כְּבוֹדִ֖י (My glory) בַּגּוֹיִֽם׃ (among the nations). 20  וְהֵבִ֣יאוּ (And they will bring) אֶת־ (-) כָּל־ (all) אֲחֵיכֶ֣ם (your⁺ brothers) מִכָּל־ (from all) הַגּוֹיִ֣ם׀ (nations) מִנְחָ֣ה׀ (as an offering) לַֽיהוָ֡ה (to YHWH) בַּסּוּסִ֡ים (on horses), וּ֠בָרֶכֶב (and in chariots), וּבַצַּבִּ֨ים (and in covered wagons), וּבַפְּרָדִ֜ים (and on mules), וּבַכִּרְכָּר֗וֹת (and on camels), עַ֣ל (to) הַ֥ר (mountain) קָדְשִׁ֛י (My holy) יְרוּשָׁלִַ֖ם (Jerusalem), אָמַ֣ר (says) יְהוָ֑ה (YHWH), כַּאֲשֶׁ֣ר (As) יָבִיאוּ֩ (bring) בְנֵ֨י (the sons) יִשְׂרָאֵ֧ל (of Israel) אֶת־ (-) הַמִּנְחָ֛ה (an offering) בִּכְלִ֥י (in a vessel) טָה֖וֹר (pure) בֵּ֥ית (into the house) יְהוָֽה׃ (of YHWH).

21  וְגַם־ (And also) מֵהֶ֥ם (from them) אֶקַּ֛ח (I will take) לַכֹּהֲנִ֥ים (priests) לַלְוִיִּ֖ם (and Levites), אָמַ֥ר (says) יְהוָֽה׃ (YHWH).

22  כִּ֣י (For) כַאֲשֶׁ֣ר (as) הַשָּׁמַ֣יִם (the heavens) הַ֠חֳדָשִׁים (new) וְהָאָ֨רֶץ (and the earth), הַחֲדָשָׁ֜ה (new)

אֲשֶׁ֨ר (that) אֲנִ֥י (I) עֹשֶׂ֛ה (am making), עֹמְדִ֥ים (will stand) לְפָנַ֖י (before Me)

נְאֻם־ (a declaration) יְהוָ֑ה (of YHWH),

כֵּ֛ן (So) יַעֲמֹ֥ד (will stand) זַרְעֲכֶ֖ם (your⁺ seed) וְשִׁמְכֶֽם׃ (and your⁺ name).

23  וְהָיָ֗ה (And it will come to pass), מִֽדֵּי־ (from) חֹ֙דֶשׁ֙ (New Moon) בְּחָדְשׁ֔וֹ (to New Moon),

וּמִדֵּ֥י (and from) שַׁבָּ֖ת (Sabbath) בְּשַׁבַּתּ֑וֹ (to Sabbath),

יָב֧וֹא (that will come) כָל־ (all) בָּשָׂ֛ר (flesh) לְהִשְׁתַּחֲוֺ֥ת (to worship) לְפָנַ֖י (before Me)

אָמַ֥ר (says) יְהוָֽה׃ (YHWH).

24  וְיָצְא֣וּ (And they will go forth), וְרָא֔וּ (and they will see)

בְּפִגְרֵי֙ (the corpses) הָאֲנָשִׁ֔ים (of the men) הַפֹּשְׁעִ֖ים (having rebelled) בִּ֑י (against Me)

כִּ֣י (for) תוֹלַעְתָּ֞ם (their worm) לֹ֣א (not) תָמ֗וּת (does die),

וְאִשָּׁם֙ (and their fire) לֹ֣א (not) תִכְבֶּ֔ה (is quenched);

וְהָי֥וּ (and they will be) דֵרָא֖וֹן (an abhorrence)

לְכָל־ (to all) בָּשָֽׂר׃ (flesh).
