1	AND when it came to pass that, being parted from them, we set sail, we came with a straight course to Coos, and the day following to Rhodes, and from thence to Patara.	And when we had parted from them and set sail, we came by a straight course to Cos, and the next day to Rhodes, and from there to Patara.	After we had torn ourselves away from them, we put out to sea and sailed straight to Kos. The next day we went to Rhodes and from there to Patara.
2	And when we had found a ship sailing over to Phenice, we went aboard, and set forth.	And having found a ship crossing to Phoenicia, we went aboard and set sail.	We found a ship crossing over to Phoenicia, went on board and set sail.
3	And when we had discovered Cyprus, leaving it on the left hand, we sailed into Syria, and came to Tyre: for there the ship was to unlade her burden. 4	And finding disciples, we tarried there seven days: who said to Paul through the Spirit, that he should not go up to Jerusalem.	And having sought out the disciples, we stayed there for seven days. And through the Spirit they were telling Paul not to go on to Jerusalem.	We sought out the disciples there and stayed with them seven days. 5	And the days being expired, departing we went forward, they all bringing us on our way, with their wives and children, till we were out of the city: and we kneeled down on the shore, and we prayed.	When our days there were ended, we departed and went on our journey, and they all, with wives and children, accompanied us until we were outside the city. And kneeling down on the beach, we prayed	When it was time to leave, we left and continued on our way. All of them, including wives and children, accompanied us out of the city, and there on the beach we knelt to pray.
6	And when we had bid one another farewell, we took ship; and they returned home.	and said farewell to one another. Then we went on board the ship, and they returned home.	After saying goodbye to each other, we went aboard the ship, and they returned home.
7	But we having finished the voyage by sea, from Tyre came down to Ptolemais: and saluting the brethren, we abode one day with them. And coming to us, he took Paul’s belt and bound his own feet and hands and said, “Thus says the Holy Spirit, ‘This is how the Jews at Jerusalem will bind the man who owns this belt and deliver him into the hands of the Gentiles.’”	Coming over to us, he took Paul’s belt, tied his own hands and feet with it and said, “The Holy Spirit says, ‘In this way the Jewish leaders in Jerusalem will bind the owner of this belt and will hand him over to the Gentiles.’”
12	Which when we had heard, both we and they that were of that place, desired him that he would not go up to Jerusalem.	When we heard this, we and the people there urged him not to go up to Jerusalem.	When we heard this, we and the people there pleaded with Paul not to go up to Jerusalem.
13	Then Paul answered, and said: What do you mean weeping and afflicting my heart? For I am ready not only to be bound, but to die also in Jerusalem, for the name of the Lord Jesus.	Then Paul answered, “What are you doing, weeping and breaking my heart? For I am ready not only to be imprisoned but even to die in Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.”	Then Paul answered, “Why are you weeping and breaking my heart? I am ready not only to be bound, but also to die in Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.”
14	And when we could not persuade him, we ceased, saying: The will of the Lord be done.	And since he would not be persuaded, we ceased and said, “Let the will of the Lord be done.”	When he would not be dissuaded, we gave up and said, “The Lord’s will be done.”
15	And after those days, being prepared, we went up to Jerusalem.	After these days we got ready and went up to Jerusalem.	After this, we started on our way up to Jerusalem.
16	And there went also with us some of the disciples from Caesarea, bringing with them one Mnason a Cyprian, an old disciple, with whom we should lodge.	And some of the disciples from Caesarea went with us, bringing us to the house of Mnason of Cyprus, an early disciple, with whom we should lodge.	Some of the disciples from Caesarea accompanied us and brought us to the home of Mnason, where we were to stay. He was a man from Cyprus and one of the early disciples.
17	And when we were come to Jerusalem, the brethren received us gladly.	When we had come to Jerusalem, the brothers received us gladly.	When we arrived at Jerusalem, the brothers and sisters received us warmly.
18	And the day following, Paul went in with us unto James; and all the ancients were assembled.	On the following day Paul went in with us to James, and all the elders were present.	The next day Paul and the rest of us went to see James, and all the elders were present.
19	Whom when he had saluted, he related particularly what things God had wrought among the Gentiles by his ministry.	After greeting them, he related one by one the things that God had done among the Gentiles through his ministry.	Paul greeted them and reported in detail what God had done among the Gentiles through his ministry.
20	But they hearing it, glorified God, and said to him: Thou seest, brother, how many thousands there are among the Jews that have believed: and they are all zealous for the law.	And when they heard it, they glorified God. And they said to him, “You see, brother, how many thousands there are among the Jews of those who have believed. They are all zealous for the law,	When they heard this, they praised God. Then they said to Paul: “You see, brother, how many thousands of Jews have believed, and all of them are zealous for the law.
21	Now they have heard of thee that thou teachest those Jews, who are among the Gentiles, to depart from Moses: saying, that they ought not to circumcise their children, nor walk according to the custom.	and they have been told about you that you teach all the Jews who are among the Gentiles to forsake Moses, telling them not to circumcise their children or walk according to our customs.	They have been informed that you teach all the Jews who live among the Gentiles to turn away from Moses, telling them not to circumcise their children or live according to our customs.
22	What is it therefore? the multitude must needs come together: for they will hear that thou art come.	What then is to be done? They will certainly hear that you have come.	What shall we do? They will certainly hear that you have come,
23	Do therefore this that we say to thee. We have four men, who have a vow on them.	Do therefore what we tell you. We have four men who are under a vow;	so do what we tell you. There are four men with us who have made a vow.
24	Take these, and sanctify thyself with them: and bestow on them, that they may shave their heads: and all will know that the things which they have heard of thee, are false; but that thou thyself also walkest keeping the law.	take these men and purify yourself along with them and pay their expenses, so that they may shave their heads. Thus all will know that there is nothing in what they have been told about you, but that you yourself also live in observance of the law.	Take these men, join in their purification rites and pay their expenses, so that they can have their heads shaved. Then everyone will know there is no truth in these reports about you, but that you yourself are living in obedience to the law.
25	But as touching the Gentiles that believe, we have written, decreeing that they should only refrain themselves from that which has been offered to idols, and from blood, and from things strangles, and from fornication.	But as for the Gentiles who have believed, we have sent a letter with our judgment that they should abstain from what has been sacrificed to idols, and from blood, and from what has been strangled, and from sexual immorality.”	As for the Gentile believers, we have written to them our decision that they should abstain from food sacrificed to idols, from blood, from the meat of strangled animals and from sexual immorality.”
26	Then Paul took the men, and the next day being purified with them, entered into the temple, giving notice of the accomplishment of the days of purification, until an oblation should be offered for every one of them.	Then Paul took the men, and the next day he purified himself along with them and went into the temple, giving notice when the days of purification would be fulfilled and the offering presented for each one of them. 28	Men of Israel, help: This is the man that teacheth all men every where against the people, and the law, and this place; and moreover hath brought in Gentiles into the temple, and hath violated this holy place.	crying out, “Men of Israel, help! This is the man who is teaching everyone everywhere against the people and the law and this place. Moreover, he even brought Greeks into the temple and has defiled this holy place.”	shouting, “Fellow Israelites, help us! This is the man who teaches everyone everywhere against our people and our law and this place. And besides, he has brought Greeks into the temple and defiled this holy place.”
29	(For they had seen Trophimus the Ephesian in the city with him, whom they supposed that Paul had brought into the temple.)	For they had previously seen Trophimus the Ephesian with him in the city, and they supposed that Paul had brought him into the temple. 30	And the whole city was in an uproar: and the people ran together. And taking Paul, they drew him out of the temple, and immediately the doors were shut. 31	And as they went about to kill him, it was told the tribune of the band, That all Jerusalem was in confusion.	And as they were seeking to kill him, word came to the tribune of the cohort that all Jerusalem was in confusion.	While they were trying to kill him, news reached the commander of the Roman troops that the whole city of Jerusalem was in an uproar.
32	Who, forthwith taking with him soldiers and centurions, ran down to them. And when they saw the tribune and the soldiers they left off beating Paul.	He at once took soldiers and centurions and ran down to them. And when they saw the tribune and the soldiers, they stopped beating Paul.	He at once took some officers and soldiers and ran down to the crowd. When the rioters saw the commander and his soldiers, they stopped beating Paul.
33	Then the tribune coming near, took him, and commanded him to be bound with two chains: and demanded who he was, and what he had done.	Then the tribune came up and arrested him and ordered him to be bound with two chains. He inquired who he was and what he had done.	The commander came up and arrested him and ordered him to be bound with two chains. Then he asked who he was and what he had done.
34	And some cried one thing, some another, among the multitude. And when he could not know the certainty for the tumult, he commanded him to be carried into the castle.	Some in the crowd were shouting one thing, some another. And as he could not learn the facts because of the uproar, he ordered him to be brought into the barracks.	Some in the crowd shouted one thing and some another, and since the commander could not get at the truth because of the uproar, he ordered that Paul be taken into the barracks.
35	And when he was come to the stairs, it fell out that he was carried by the soldiers, because of the violence of the people.	And when he came to the steps, he was actually carried by the soldiers because of the violence of the crowd,	When Paul reached the steps, the violence of the mob was so great he had to be carried by the soldiers.
36	For the multitude of the people followed after, crying: Away with him.	for the mob of the people followed, crying out, “Away with him!”	The crowd that followed kept shouting, “Get rid of him!”
37	And as Paul was about to be brought into the castle, he saith to the tribune: May speak something to thee? Who said: Canst thou speak Greek?	As Paul was about to be brought into the barracks, he said to the tribune, “May I say something to you?” And he said, “Do you know Greek?	As the soldiers were about to take Paul into the barracks, he asked the commander, “May I say something to you?” “Do you speak Greek?” he replied.
38	Art not thou that Egyptian who before these days didst raise a tumult, and didst lead forth into the desert four thousand men that were murderers?	Are you not the Egyptian, then, who recently stirred up a revolt and led the four thousand men of the Assassins out into the wilderness?”	“Aren’t you the Egyptian who started a revolt and led four thousand terrorists out into the wilderness some time ago?”
39	But Paul said to him: I am a Jew of Tarsus in Cilicia, a citizen of no mean city. And I beseech thee, suffer me to speak to the people.	Paul replied, “I am a Jew, from Tarsus in Cilicia, a citizen of no obscure city. I beg you, permit me to speak to the people.”	Paul answered, “I am a Jew, from Tarsus in Cilicia, a citizen of no ordinary city. Please let me speak to the people.”
40	And when he had given him leave, Paul standing on the stairs, beckoned with his hand to the people. And a great silence being made, he spoke unto them in the Hebrew tongue, saying:	And when he had given him permission, Paul, standing on the steps, motioned with his hand to the people. And when there was a great hush, he addressed them in the Hebrew language, saying:	After receiving the commander’s permission, Paul stood on the steps and motioned to the crowd. When they were all silent, he said to them in Aramaic:
