1	AND after the tumult was ceased, Paul calling to him the disciples, and exhorting them, took his leave, and set forward to go into Macedonia.	After the uproar ceased, Paul sent for the disciples, and after encouraging them, he said farewell and departed for Macedonia.	When the uproar had ended, Paul sent for the disciples and, after encouraging them, said goodbye and set out for Macedonia.
2	And when he had gone over those parts, and had exhorted them with many words, he came into Greece;	When he had gone through those regions and had given them much encouragement, he came to Greece.	He traveled through that area, speaking many words of encouragement to the people, and finally arrived in Greece,
3	Where, when he had spent three months, the Jews laid wait for him, as he was about to sail into Syria; so he took a resolution to return through Macedonia.	There he spent three months, and when a plot was made against him by the Jews as he was about to set sail for Syria, he decided to return through Macedonia.	where he stayed three months. Because some Jews had plotted against him just as he was about to sail for Syria, he decided to go back through Macedonia.
4	And there accompanied him Sopater the son of Pyrrhus, of Berea; and of the Thessalonians, Aristarchus, and Secundus, and Gaius of Derbe, and Timothy; and of Asia, Tychicus and Trophimus.	Sopater the Berean, son of Pyrrhus, accompanied him; and of the Thessalonians, Aristarchus and Secundus; and Gaius of Derbe, and Timothy; and the Asians, Tychicus and Trophimus.	He was accompanied by Sopater son of Pyrrhus from Berea, Aristarchus and Secundus from Thessalonica, Gaius from Derbe, Timothy also, and Tychicus and Trophimus from the province of Asia.
5	These going before, stayed for us at Troas.	These went on ahead and were waiting for us at Troas,	These men went on ahead and waited for us at Troas.
6	But we sailed from Philippi after the days of the Azymes, and came to them to Troas in five days, where we abode seven days.	but we sailed away from Philippi after the days of Unleavened Bread, and in five days we came to them at Troas, where we stayed for seven days.	But we sailed from Philippi after the Festival of Unleavened Bread, and five days later joined the others at Troas, where we stayed seven days.
7	And on the first day of the week, when we were assembled to break bread, Paul discoursed with them, being to depart on the morrow: and he continued his speech until midnight. 9	And a certain young man named Eutychus, sitting on the window, being oppressed with a deep sleep, (as Paul was long preaching,) by occasion of his sleep fell from the third loft down, and was taken up dead.	And a young man named Eutychus, sitting at the window, sank into a deep sleep as Paul talked still longer. And being overcome by sleep, he fell down from the third story and was taken up dead.	Seated in a window was a young man named Eutychus, who was sinking into a deep sleep as Paul talked on and on. When he was sound asleep, he fell to the ground from the third story and was picked up dead.
10	To whom, when Paul had gone down, he laid himself upon him, and embracing him, said: Be not troubled, for his soul is in him.	But Paul went down and bent over him, and taking him in his arms, said, “Do not be alarmed, for his life is in him.”	Paul went down, threw himself on the young man and put his arms around him. “Don’t be alarmed,” he said. “He’s alive!”
11	Then going up, and breaking bread and tasting, and having talked a long time to them, until daylight, so he departed.	And when Paul had gone up and had broken bread and eaten, he conversed with them a long while, until daybreak, and so departed.	Then he went upstairs again and broke bread and ate. After talking until daylight, he left.
12	And they brought the youth alive, and were not a little comforted.	And they took the youth away alive, and were not a little comforted.	The people took the young man home alive and were greatly comforted.
13	But we, going aboard the ship, sailed to Assos, being there to take in Paul; for so he had appointed, himself purposing to travel by land.	But going ahead to the ship, we set sail for Assos, intending to take Paul aboard there, for so he had arranged, intending himself to go by land.	We went on ahead to the ship and sailed for Assos, where we were going to take Paul aboard. He had made this arrangement because he was going there on foot.
14	And when he had met with us at Assos, we took him in, and came to Mitylene.	And when he met us at Assos, we took him on board and went to Mitylene.	When he met us at Assos, we took him aboard and went on to Mitylene.
15	And sailing thence, the day following we came over against Chios; and the next day we arrived at Samos; and the day following we came to Miletus.	And sailing from there we came the following day opposite Chios; the next day we touched at Samos; and the day after that we went to Miletus.	The next day we set sail from there and arrived off Chios. The day after that we crossed over to Samos, and on the following day arrived at Miletus.
16	For Paul had determined to sail by Ephesus, lest he should be stayed any time in Asia. For he hasted, if it were possible for him, to keep the day of Pentecost at Jerusalem.	For Paul had decided to sail past Ephesus, so that he might not have to spend time in Asia, for he was hastening to be at Jerusalem, if possible, on the day of Pentecost.	Paul had decided to sail past Ephesus to avoid spending time in the province of Asia, for he was in a hurry to reach Jerusalem, if possible, by the day of Pentecost.
17	And sending from Miletus to Ephesus, he called the ancients of the church.	Now from Miletus he sent to Ephesus and called the elders of the church to come to him.	From Miletus, Paul sent to Ephesus for the elders of the church.
18	And when they were come to him, and were together, he said to them: You know from the first day that I came into Asia, in what manner I have been with you, for all the time,	And when they came to him, he said to them: “You yourselves know how I lived among you the whole time from the first day that I set foot in Asia,	When they arrived, he said to them: “You know how I lived the whole time I was with you, from the first day I came into the province of Asia.
19	Serving the Lord with all humility, and with tears, and temptations which befell me by the conspiracies of the Jews;	serving the Lord with all humility and with tears and with trials that happened to me through the plots of the Jews;	I served the Lord with great humility and with tears and in the midst of severe testing by the plots of my Jewish opponents.
20	How I have kept back nothing that was profitable to you, but have preached it to you, and taught you publicly, and from house to house,	how I did not shrink from declaring to you anything that was profitable, and teaching you in public and from house to house,	You know that I have not hesitated to preach anything that would be helpful to you but have taught you publicly and from house to house.
21	Testifying both to Jews and Gentiles penance towards God, and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.	testifying both to Jews and to Greeks of repentance toward God and of faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.	I have declared to both Jews and Greeks that they must turn to God in repentance and have faith in our Lord Jesus.
22	And now, behold, being bound in the spirit, I go to Jerusalem: not knowing the things which shall befall me there:	And now, behold, I am going to Jerusalem, constrained by the Spirit, not knowing what will happen to me there,	“And now, compelled by the Spirit, I am going to Jerusalem, not knowing what will happen to me there.
23	Save that the Holy Ghost in every city witnesseth to me, saying: That bands and afflictions wait for me at Jerusalem.	except that the Holy Spirit testifies to me in every city that imprisonment and afflictions await me.	I only know that in every city the Holy Spirit warns me that prison and hardships are facing me.
24	But I fear none of these things, neither do I count my life more precious than myself, so that I may consummate my course and the ministry of the word which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.	But I do not account my life of any value nor as precious to myself, if only I may finish my course and the ministry that I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God.	However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me—the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace.
25	And now behold, I know that all you, among whom I have gone preaching the kingdom of God, shall see my face no more.	And now, behold, I know that none of you among whom I have gone about proclaiming the kingdom will see my face again.	“Now I know that none of you among whom I have gone about preaching the kingdom will ever see me again.
26	Wherefore I take you to witness this day, that I am clear from the blood of all men;	Therefore I testify to you this day that I am innocent of the blood of all,	Therefore, I declare to you today that I am innocent of the blood of any of you.
27	For I have not spared to declare unto you all the counsel of God.	for I did not shrink from declaring to you the whole counsel of God.	For I have not hesitated to proclaim to you the whole will of God.
28	Take heed to yourselves, and to the whole flock, wherein the Holy Ghost hath placed you bishops, to rule the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.	Pay careful attention to yourselves and to all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to care for the church of God, which he obtained with his own blood.	Keep watch over yourselves and all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers. Be shepherds of the church of God, which he bought with his own blood.
29	I know that, after my departure, ravening wolves will enter in among you, not sparing the flock.	I know that after my departure fierce wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock;	I know that after I leave, savage wolves will come in among you and will not spare the flock.
30	And of your own selves shall arise men speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them.	and from among your own selves will arise men speaking twisted things, to draw away the disciples after them.	Even from your own number men will arise and distort the truth in order to draw away disciples after them.
31	Therefore watch, keeping in memory, that for three years I ceased not, with tears to admonish every one of you night and day.	Therefore be alert, remembering that for three years I did not cease night or day to admonish every one with tears.	So be on your guard! Remember that for three years I never stopped warning each of you night and day with tears.
32	And now I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, who is able to build up, and to give an inheritance among all the sanctified.	And now I commend you to God and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up and to give you the inheritance among all those who are sanctified.	“Now I commit you to God and to the word of his grace, which can build you up and give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified.
33	I have not coveted any man's silver, gold, or apparel, as	I coveted no one’s silver or gold or apparel.	I have not coveted anyone’s silver or gold or clothing.
34	You yourselves know: for such things as were needful for me and them that are with me, these hands have furnished.	You yourselves know that these hands ministered to my necessities and to those who were with me.	You yourselves know that these hands of mine have supplied my own needs and the needs of my companions.
35	I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring you ought to support the weak, and to remember the word of the Lord Jesus, how he said: It is a more blessed thing to give, rather than to receive.	In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”	In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ “
36	And when he had said these things, kneeling down, he prayed with them all.	And when he had said these things, he knelt down and prayed with them all.	When Paul had finished speaking, he knelt down with all of them and prayed.
37	And there was much weeping among them all; and falling on the neck of Paul, they kissed him,	And there was much weeping on the part of all; they embraced Paul and kissed him,	They all wept as they embraced him and kissed him.
38	Being grieved most of all for the word which he had said, that they should see his face no more. And they brought him on his way to the ship.	being sorrowful most of all because of the word he had spoken, that they would not see his face again. And they accompanied him to the ship.	What grieved them most was his statement that they would never see his face again. Then they accompanied him to the ship.
