And He was saying to them, "The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore beseech the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.2He told them: "The harvest is abundant, but the workers are few. Therefore, pray to the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into His harvest.
"Go; behold, I send you out as lambs in the midst of wolves.3Now go; I'm sending you out like lambs among wolves.
"Carry no money belt, no bag, no shoes; and greet no one on the way.4Don't carry a money-bag, traveling bag, or sandals; don't greet anyone along the road.
"Whatever house you enter, first say, 'Peace be to this house.'5Whatever house you enter, first say, Peace to this household.'
"If a man of peace is there, your peace will rest on him; but if not, it will return to you.6If a son of peace is there, your peace will rest on him; but if not, it will return to you.
"Stay in that house, eating and drinking what they give you; for the laborer is worthy of his wages. Do not keep moving from house to house.7Remain in the same house, eating and drinking what they offer, for the worker is worthy of his wages. Don't be moving from house to house.
"Whatever city you enter and they receive you, eat what is set before you;8When you enter any town, and they welcome you, eat the things set before you.
and heal those in it who are sick, and say to them, 'The kingdom of God has come near to you.'9Heal the sick who are there, and tell them, The kingdom of God has come near you.'
"But whatever city you enter and they do not receive you, go out into its streets and say,10When you enter any town, and they don't welcome you, go out into its streets and say,
Even the dust of your city which clings to our feet we wipe off in protest against you; yet be sure of this, that the kingdom of God has come near.'11We are wiping off as a witness against you even the dust of your town that clings to our feet. Know this for certain: The kingdom of God has come near.'
"I say to you, it will be more tolerable in that day for Sodom than for that city.12I tell you, on that day it will be more tolerable for Sodom than for that town.
"Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the miracles had been performed in Tyre and Sidon which occurred in you, they would have repented long ago, sitting in sackcloth and ashes.13"Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the miracles that were done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago, sitting in sackcloth and ashes!
"But it will be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon in the judgment than for you.14But it will be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the judgment than for you.

"The one who listens to you listens to Me, and the one who rejects you rejects Me; and he who rejects Me rejects the One who sent Me."16Whoever listens to you listens to Me. Whoever rejects you rejects Me. And whoever rejects Me rejects the One who sent Me."
The seventy returned with joy, saying, "Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name."17The Seventy returned with joy, saying, "Lord, even the demons submit to us in Your name."

"Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing will injure you.19Look, I have given you the authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy; nothing will ever harm you.
"Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are recorded in heaven."20However, don't rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven."
At that very time He rejoiced greatly in the Holy Spirit, and said, "I praise You, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from the wise and intelligent and have revealed them to infants. Yes, Father, for this way was well-pleasing in Your sight.21In that same hour He rejoiced in the Holy Spirit and said, "I praise You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because You have hidden these things from the wise and the learned and have revealed them to infants. Yes, Father, because this was Your good pleasure.
"All things have been handed over to Me by My Father, and no one knows who the Son is except the Father, and who the Father is except the Son, and anyone to whom the Son wills to reveal Him."22All things have been entrusted to Me by My Father. No one knows who the Son is except the Father, and who the Father is except the Son, and anyone to whom the Son desires to reveal Him."
Turning to the disciples, He said privately, "Blessed are the eyes which see the things you see,23Then turning to His disciples He said privately, "The eyes that see the things you see are blessed!
for I say to you, that many prophets and kings wished to see the things which you see, and did not see them, and to hear the things which you hear, and did not hear them."24For I tell you that many prophets and kings wanted to see the things you see yet didn't see them; to hear the things you hear yet didn't hear them."
And a lawyer stood up and put Him to the test, saying, "Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?"25Just then an expert in the law stood up to test Him, saying, "Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?"
And He said to him, "What is written in the Law? How does it read to you?"26"What is written in the law?" He asked him. "How do you read it?"
And he answered, "YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR STRENGTH, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND; AND YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF."27He answered: Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself.
And He said to him, "You have answered correctly; DO THIS AND YOU WILL LIVE."28"You've answered correctly," He told him. "Do this and you will live."
But wishing to justify himself, he said to Jesus, "And who is my neighbor?"29But wanting to justify himself, he asked Jesus, "And who is my neighbor?"
Jesus replied and said, "A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among robbers, and they stripped him and beat him, and went away leaving him half dead.30Jesus took up the question and said: "A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho and fell into the hands of robbers. They stripped him, beat him up, and fled, leaving him half dead.
"And by chance a priest was going down on that road, and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.31A priest happened to be going down that road. When he saw him, he passed by on the other side.

and came to him and bandaged up his wounds, pouring oil and wine on them; and he put him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn and took care of him.34He went over to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on olive oil and wine. Then he put him on his own animal, brought him to an inn, and took care of him.
"On the next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper and said, 'Take care of him; and whatever more you spend, when I return I will repay you.'35The next day he took out two denarii, gave them to the innkeeper, and said, Take care of him. When I come back I'll reimburse you for whatever extra you spend.'

Now as they were traveling along, He entered a village; and a woman named Martha welcomed Him into her home.38While they were traveling, He entered a village, and a woman named Martha welcomed Him into her home.
She had a sister called Mary, who was seated at the Lord's feet, listening to His word.39She had a sister named Mary, who also sat at the Lord's feet and was listening to what He said.
But Martha was distracted with all her preparations; and she came up to Him and said, "Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to do all the serving alone? Then tell her to help me."40But Martha was distracted by her many tasks, and she came up and asked, "Lord, don't You care that my sister has left me to serve alone? So tell her to give me a hand."
But the Lord answered and said to her, "Martha, Martha, you are worried and bothered about so many things;41The Lord answered her, "Martha, Martha, you are worried and upset about many things,
but only one thing is necessary, for Mary has chosen the good part, which shall not be taken away from her."42but one thing is necessary. Mary has made the right choice, and it will not be taken away from her."
