Psalm 107
HCSB Parallel NLT [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
Holman Christian Standard BibleNew Living Translation
Give thanks to the LORD, for He is good; His faithful love endures forever. 1Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good! His faithful love endures forever.
Let the redeemed of the LORD proclaim that He has redeemed them from the hand of the foe 2Has the LORD redeemed you? Then speak out! Tell others he has redeemed you from your enemies.
and has gathered them from the lands-- from the east and the west, from the north and the south. 3For he has gathered the exiles from many lands, from east and west, from north and south.
Some wandered in the desolate wilderness, finding no way to a city where they could live. 4Some wandered in the wilderness, lost and homeless.
They were hungry and thirsty; their spirits failed within them. 5Hungry and thirsty, they nearly died.
Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble; He rescued them from their distress. 6“LORD, help!” they cried in their trouble, and he rescued them from their distress.
He led them by the right path to go to a city where they could live. 7He led them straight to safety, to a city where they could live.
Let them give thanks to the LORD for His faithful love and His wonderful works for all humanity. 8Let them praise the LORD for his great love and for the wonderful things he has done for them.
For He has satisfied the thirsty and filled the hungry with good things. 9For he satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things.
Others sat in darkness and gloom-- prisoners in cruel chains-- 10Some sat in darkness and deepest gloom, imprisoned in iron chains of misery.
because they rebelled against God's commands and despised the counsel of the Most High. 11They rebelled against the words of God, scorning the counsel of the Most High.
He broke their spirits with hard labor; they stumbled, and there was no one to help. 12That is why he broke them with hard labor; they fell, and no one was there to help them.
Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble; He saved them from their distress. 13“LORD, help!” they cried in their trouble, and he saved them from their distress.
He brought them out of darkness and gloom and broke their chains apart. 14He led them from the darkness and deepest gloom; he snapped their chains.
Let them give thanks to the LORD for His faithful love and His wonderful works for all humanity. 15Let them praise the LORD for his great love and for the wonderful things he has done for them.
For He has broken down the bronze gates and cut through the iron bars. 16For he broke down their prison gates of bronze; he cut apart their bars of iron.
Fools suffered affliction because of their rebellious ways and their sins. 17Some were fools; they rebelled and suffered for their sins.
They loathed all food and came near the gates of death. 18They couldn’t stand the thought of food, and they were knocking on death’s door.
Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble; He saved them from their distress. 19“LORD, help!” they cried in their trouble, and he saved them from their distress.
He sent His word and healed them; He rescued them from the Pit. 20He sent out his word and healed them, snatching them from the door of death.
Let them give thanks to the LORD for His faithful love and His wonderful works for all humanity. 21Let them praise the LORD for his great love and for the wonderful things he has done for them.
Let them offer sacrifices of thanksgiving and announce His works with shouts of joy. 22Let them offer sacrifices of thanksgiving and sing joyfully about his glorious acts.
Others went to sea in ships, conducting trade on the vast waters. 23Some went off to sea in ships, plying the trade routes of the world.
They saw the LORD's works, His wonderful works in the deep. 24They, too, observed the LORD’s power in action, his impressive works on the deepest seas.
He spoke and raised a tempest that stirred up the waves of the sea. 25He spoke, and the winds rose, stirring up the waves.
Rising up to the sky, sinking down to the depths, their courage melting away in anguish, 26Their ships were tossed to the heavens and plunged again to the depths; the sailors cringed in terror.
they reeled and staggered like drunken men, and all their skill was useless. 27They reeled and staggered like drunkards and were at their wits’ end.
Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble, and He brought them out of their distress. 28“LORD, help!” they cried in their trouble, and he saved them from their distress.
He stilled the storm to a murmur, and the waves of the sea were hushed. 29He calmed the storm to a whisper and stilled the waves.
They rejoiced when the waves grew quiet. Then He guided them to the harbor they longed for. 30What a blessing was that stillness as he brought them safely into harbor!
Let them give thanks to the LORD for His faithful love and His wonderful works for all humanity. 31Let them praise the LORD for his great love and for the wonderful things he has done for them.
Let them exalt Him in the assembly of the people and praise Him in the council of the elders. 32Let them exalt him publicly before the congregation and before the leaders of the nation.
He turns rivers into desert, springs of water into thirsty ground, 33He changes rivers into deserts, and springs of water into dry, thirsty land.
and fruitful land into salty wasteland, because of the wickedness of its inhabitants. 34He turns the fruitful land into salty wastelands, because of the wickedness of those who live there.
He turns a desert into a pool of water, dry land into springs of water. 35But he also turns deserts into pools of water, the dry land into springs of water.
He causes the hungry to settle there, and they establish a city where they can live. 36He brings the hungry to settle there and to build their cities.
They sow fields and plant vineyards that yield a fruitful harvest. 37They sow their fields, plant their vineyards, and harvest their bumper crops.
He blesses them, and they multiply greatly; He does not let their livestock decrease. 38How he blesses them! They raise large families there, and their herds of livestock increase.
When they are diminished and are humbled by cruel oppression and sorrow, 39When they decrease in number and become impoverished through oppression, trouble, and sorrow,
He pours contempt on nobles and makes them wander in a trackless wasteland. 40the LORD pours contempt on their princes, causing them to wander in trackless wastelands.
But He lifts the needy out of their suffering and makes their families multiply like flocks. 41But he rescues the poor from trouble and increases their families like flocks of sheep.
The upright see it and rejoice, and all injustice shuts its mouth. 42The godly will see these things and be glad, while the wicked are struck silent.
Let whoever is wise pay attention to these things and consider the LORD's acts of faithful love. 43Those who are wise will take all this to heart; they will see in our history the faithful love of the LORD.
