Future Blessings for Zion
1 רָנִּ֥י (Sing out), עֲקָרָ֖ה (O barren woman),
לֹ֣א (who not) יָלָ֑דָה (has given birth);
פִּצְחִ֨י (break forth) רִנָּ֤ה (in song), וְצַהֲלִי֙ (and cry aloud),
לֹא־ (one not) חָ֔לָה (having travailed);
כִּֽי־ (because) רַבִּ֧ים (more) בְּֽנֵי־ (are the sons) שׁוֹמֵמָ֛ה (of the desolate woman)
מִבְּנֵ֥י (than the sons) בְעוּלָ֖ה (of the married woman),
אָמַ֥ר (says) יְהוָֽה׃ (YHWH).
2 הַרְחִ֣יבִי׀ (Enlarge) מְק֣וֹם (the place) אָהֳלֵ֗ךְ (of your tent),
וִירִיע֧וֹת (and the curtains) מִשְׁכְּנוֹתַ֛יִךְ (of your dwellings), יַטּ֖וּ (let them stretch out)
אַל־ (do not), תַּחְשֹׂ֑כִי (hold back)
הַאֲרִ֙יכִי֙ (Lengthen) מֵֽיתָרַ֔יִךְ (your cords),
וִיתֵדֹתַ֖יִךְ (and your stakes); חַזֵּֽקִי׃ (strengthen).
3 כִּי־ (For) יָמִ֥ין (to the right) וּשְׂמֹ֖אול (and to the left); תִּפְרֹ֑צִי (you will break through)
וְזַרְעֵךְ֙ (and your seed) גּוֹיִ֣ם (the nations), יִירָ֔שׁ (will inherit)
וְעָרִ֥ים (and the cities) נְשַׁמּ֖וֹת (left desolate) יוֹשִֽׁיבוּ׃ (will settle).
4 אַל־ (Do not); תִּֽירְאִי֙ (be afraid) כִּי־ (for) לֹ֣א (not) תֵב֔וֹשִׁי (will you be ashamed);
וְאַל־ (and not) תִּכָּלְמִ֖י (should you be disgraced); כִּ֣י (for) לֹ֣א (not) תַחְפִּ֑ירִי (will you be put to shame);
כִּ֣י (for) בֹ֤שֶׁת (the shame) עֲלוּמַ֙יִךְ֙ (of your youth), תִּשְׁכָּ֔חִי (you will forget)
וְחֶרְפַּ֥ת (and the reproach) אַלְמְנוּתַ֖יִךְ (of your widowhood) לֹ֥א (no) תִזְכְּרִי־ (you will remember) עֽוֹד׃ (more).
5 כִּ֤י (For truly) בֹעֲלַ֙יִךְ֙ (your husband is); עֹשַׂ֔יִךְ (your Maker)
יְהוָ֥ה (YHWH of) צְבָא֖וֹת (Hosts) שְׁמ֑וֹ (is His name);
וְגֹֽאֲלֵךְ֙ (and your Redeemer is) קְד֣וֹשׁ (the Holy One) יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל (of Israel);
אֱלֹהֵ֥י (the God) כָל־ (of all) הָאָ֖רֶץ (the earth) יִקָּרֵֽא׃ (He is called).
6 כִּֽי־ (Indeed) כְאִשָּׁ֧ה (like a woman) עֲזוּבָ֛ה (forsaken) וַעֲצ֥וּבַת (and pained) ר֖וּחַ (of spirit),
קְרָאָ֣ךְ (has called you) יְהוָ֑ה (YHWH)
וְאֵ֧שֶׁת (and a wife) נְעוּרִ֛ים (of one’s youth), כִּ֥י (when) תִמָּאֵ֖ס (she is rejected),
אָמַ֥ר (says) אֱלֹהָֽיִךְ׃ (your God).
7 בְּרֶ֥גַע (Moment) קָטֹ֖ן (For a small) עֲזַבְתִּ֑יךְ (have I forsaken you)
וּבְרַחֲמִ֥ים (and with compassion) גְּדֹלִ֖ים (great) אֲקַבְּצֵֽךְ׃ (I will gather you).
8 בְּשֶׁ֣צֶף (In a flood) קֶ֗צֶף (of wrath)
הִסְתַּ֨רְתִּי (I hid) פָנַ֥י (My face) רֶ֙גַע֙ (for a moment); מִמֵּ֔ךְ (from you)
וּבְחֶ֥סֶד (and with kindness for) עוֹלָ֖ם (everlasting) רִֽחַמְתִּ֑יךְ (I will have compassion on you)
אָמַ֥ר (says) גֹּאֲלֵ֖ךְ (your Redeemer) יְהוָֽה׃ס (YHWH).
9 כִּי־ (For) מֵ֥י (the waters) נֹ֙חַ֙ (of Noah) זֹ֣את (this is) לִ֔י (to Me)
אֲשֶׁ֣ר (as when) נִשְׁבַּ֗עְתִּי (I swore) מֵעֲבֹ֥ר (to keep from passing) מֵי־ (the waters) נֹ֛חַ (of Noah)
ע֖וֹד (again) עַל־ (over) הָאָ֑רֶץ (the earth);
כֵּ֥ן (so) נִשְׁבַּ֛עְתִּי (have I sworn) מִקְּצֹ֥ף (from being be angry) עָלַ֖יִךְ (with you)
וּמִגְּעָר־ (and from giving rebuke) בָּֽךְ׃ (to you).
10 כִּ֤י (For) הֶֽהָרִים֙ (the mountains) יָמ֔וּשׁוּ (may depart),
וְהַגְּבָע֖וֹת (and the hills) תְּמוּטֶ֑נָה (may be shaken);
וְחַסְדִּ֞י (and My loving devotion) מֵאִתֵּ֣ךְ (from you) לֹֽא־ (will not) יָמ֗וּשׁ (depart)
וּבְרִ֤ית (and the covenant) שְׁלוֹמִי֙ (of My peace) לֹ֣א (will not) תָמ֔וּט (be shaken off),
אָמַ֥ר (says) מְרַחֲמֵ֖ךְ (the One having compassion on you) יְהוָֽה׃ס (YHWH).
11 עֲנִיָּ֥ה (O afflicted one), סֹעֲרָ֖ה (tossed with tempest),
לֹ֣א (not) נֻחָ֑מָה (comforted),
הִנֵּ֨ה (behold), אָנֹכִ֜י (I) מַרְבִּ֤יץ (am spreading over) בַּפּוּךְ֙ (in antimony), אֲבָנַ֔יִךְ (your stones)
וִיסַדְתִּ֖יךְ (and I lay your foundations) בַּסַּפִּירִֽים׃ (with sapphires).
12 וְשַׂמְתִּ֤י (And I will make) כַּֽדְכֹד֙ (of rubies), שִׁמְשֹׁתַ֔יִךְ (your pinnacles)
וּשְׁעָרַ֖יִךְ (and your gates) לְאַבְנֵ֣י (of stones) אֶקְדָּ֑ח (of sparkling),
וְכָל־ (and all) גְּבוּלֵ֖ךְ (your walls) לְאַבְנֵי־ (of stones) חֵֽפֶץ׃ (of delight).
13 וְכָל־ (And all) בָּנַ֖יִךְ (your sons) לִמּוּדֵ֣י (will be taught by) יְהוָ֑ה (YHWH);
וְרַ֖ב (and great) שְׁל֥וֹם (will be the peace) בָּנָֽיִךְ׃ (of your sons).
14 בִּצְדָקָ֖ה (In righteousness) תִּכּוֹנָ֑נִי (you will be established);
רַחֲקִ֤י (You will be far away) מֵעֹ֙שֶׁק֙ (from oppression);
כִּֽי־ (for) לֹ֣א (not) תִירָ֔אִי (will you fear);
וּמִ֨מְּחִתָּ֔ה (and from terror);
כִּ֥י (for) לֹֽא־ (not) תִקְרַ֖ב (will it come near) אֵלָֽיִךְ׃ (to you).
15 הֵ֣ן (Behold), גּ֥וֹר (the stranger) יָג֛וּר (who stirs up trouble), אֶ֖פֶס (not) מֵֽאוֹתִ֑י (from Me)
מִי־ (who) גָ֥ר (stirs up trouble) אִתָּ֖ךְ (against you) עָלַ֥יִךְ (before you) יִפּֽוֹל׃ (he will fall).
16 הֵן (Behold) אָֽנֹכִי֙ (I myself) בָּרָ֣אתִי (have created) חָרָ֔שׁ (the craftsman)
נֹפֵ֙חַ֙ (blowing) בְּאֵ֣שׁ (on the fire), פֶּחָ֔ם (of the coals)
וּמוֹצִ֥יא (and bringing out) כְלִ֖י (the tool) לְמַעֲשֵׂ֑הוּ (for his work);
וְאָנֹכִ֛י (and also I) בָּרָ֥אתִי (have created) מַשְׁחִ֖ית (the destroyer)
לְחַבֵּֽל׃ (to destroy).
17 כָּל־ (Every) כְּלִ֞י (weapon) יוּצַ֤ר (formed) עָלַ֙יִךְ֙ (against you) לֹ֣א (not) יִצְלָ֔ח (will prosper);
וְכָל־ (and every) לָשׁ֛וֹן (tongue) תָּֽקוּם־ (that rises) אִתָּ֥ךְ (against you) לַמִּשְׁפָּ֖ט (in judgment) תַּרְשִׁ֑יעִי (you will prove wiched).
זֹ֡את (This is) נַחֲלַת֩ (the inheritance) עַבְדֵ֨י (of the servants) יְהוָ֧ה (of YHWH),
וְצִדְקָתָ֛ם (and their righteousness) מֵאִתִּ֖י (is from Me)
נְאֻם־ (a declaration) יְהוָֽה׃ס (of YHWH).
