A well-written song by Ethan the Ezrachite. I will sing continually about the LORD's faithful deeds; to future generations I will proclaim your faithfulness. I will sing of the steadfast love of the LORD, forever; with my mouth I will make known your faithfulness to all generations. A maskil of Ethan the Ezrahite. I will sing of the LORD’s great love forever; with my mouth I will make your faithfulness known through all generations.
For I say, |Loyal love is permanently established; in the skies you set up your faithfulness.| For I said, “Steadfast love will be built up forever; in the heavens you will establish your faithfulness.” I will declare that your love stands firm forever, that you have established your faithfulness in heaven itself.
The LORD said, |I have made a covenant with my chosen one; I have made a promise on oath to David, my servant: You have said, “I have made a covenant with my chosen one; I have sworn to David my servant: You said, “I have made a covenant with my chosen one, I have sworn to David my servant,
I will give you an eternal dynasty and establish your throne throughout future generations.'| (Selah) ‘I will establish your offspring forever, and build your throne for all generations.’” Selah I will establish your line forever and make your throne firm through all generations.’”
O LORD, the heavens praise your amazing deeds, as well as your faithfulness in the angelic assembly. Let the heavens praise your wonders, O LORD, your faithfulness in the assembly of the holy ones! The heavens praise your wonders, LORD, your faithfulness too, in the assembly of the holy ones.
For who in the skies can compare to the LORD? Who is like the LORD among the heavenly beings, For who in the skies can be compared to the LORD? Who among the heavenly beings is like the LORD, For who in the skies above can compare with the LORD? Who is like the LORD among the heavenly beings?
a God who is honored in the great angelic assembly, and more awesome than all who surround him? a God greatly to be feared in the council of the holy ones, and awesome above all who are around him? In the council of the holy ones God is greatly feared; he is more awesome than all who surround him.
O LORD, sovereign God! Who is strong like you, O LORD? Your faithfulness surrounds you. O LORD God of hosts, who is mighty as you are, O LORD, with your faithfulness all around you? Who is like you, LORD God Almighty? You, LORD, are mighty, and your faithfulness surrounds you.
You rule over the proud sea. When its waves surge, you calm them. You rule the raging of the sea; when its waves rise, you still them. You rule over the surging sea; when its waves mount up, you still them.
You crushed the Proud One and killed it; with your strong arm you scattered your enemies. You crushed Rahab like a carcass; you scattered your enemies with your mighty arm. You crushed Rahab like one of the slain; with your strong arm you scattered your enemies.
The heavens belong to you, as does the earth. You made the world and all it contains. The heavens are yours; the earth also is yours; the world and all that is in it, you have founded them. The heavens are yours, and yours also the earth; you founded the world and all that is in it.
You created the north and the south. Tabor and Hermon rejoice in your name. The north and the south, you have created them; Tabor and Hermon joyously praise your name. You created the north and the south; Tabor and Hermon sing for joy at your name.
Your arm is powerful, your hand strong, your right hand victorious. You have a mighty arm; strong is your hand, high your right hand. Your arm is endowed with power; your hand is strong, your right hand exalted.
Equity and justice are the foundation of your throne. Loyal love and faithfulness characterize your rule. Righteousness and justice are the foundation of your throne; steadfast love and faithfulness go before you. Righteousness and justice are the foundation of your throne; love and faithfulness go before you.
How blessed are the people who worship you! O LORD, they experience your favor. Blessed are the people who know the festal shout, who walk, O LORD, in the light of your face, Blessed are those who have learned to acclaim you, who walk in the light of your presence, LORD.
They rejoice in your name all day long, and are vindicated by your justice. who exult in your name all the day and in your righteousness are exalted. They rejoice in your name all day long; they celebrate your righteousness.
For you give them splendor and strength. By your favor we are victorious. For you are the glory of their strength; by your favor our horn is exalted. For you are their glory and strength, and by your favor you exalt our horn.
For our shield belongs to the LORD, our king to the Holy One of Israel. For our shield belongs to the LORD, our king to the Holy One of Israel. Indeed, our shield belongs to the LORD, our king to the Holy One of Israel.
Then you spoke through a vision to your faithful followers and said: |I have energized a warrior; I have raised up a young man from the people. Of old you spoke in a vision to your godly one, and said: “I have granted help to one who is mighty; I have exalted one chosen from the people. Once you spoke in a vision, to your faithful people you said: “I have bestowed strength on a warrior; I have raised up a young man from among the people.
I have discovered David, my servant. With my holy oil I have anointed him as king. I have found David, my servant; with my holy oil I have anointed him, I have found David my servant; with my sacred oil I have anointed him.
My hand will support him, and my arm will strengthen him. so that my hand shall be established with him; my arm also shall strengthen him. My hand will sustain him; surely my arm will strengthen him.
No enemy will be able to exact tribute from him; a violent oppressor will not be able to humiliate him. The enemy shall not outwit him; the wicked shall not humble him. The enemy will not get the better of him; the wicked will not oppress him.
I will crush his enemies before him; I will strike down those who hate him. I will crush his foes before him and strike down those who hate him. I will crush his foes before him and strike down his adversaries.
He will experience my faithfulness and loyal love, and by my name he will win victories. My faithfulness and my steadfast love shall be with him, and in my name shall his horn be exalted. My faithful love will be with him, and through my name his horn will be exalted.
I will place his hand over the sea, his right hand over the rivers. I will set his hand on the sea and his right hand on the rivers. I will set his hand over the sea, his right hand over the rivers.
He will call out to me, 'You are my father, my God, and the protector who delivers me.' He shall cry to me, ‘You are my Father, my God, and the Rock of my salvation.’ He will call out to me, ‘You are my Father, my God, the Rock my Savior.’
I will appoint him to be my firstborn son, the most exalted of the earth's kings. And I will make him the firstborn, the highest of the kings of the earth. And I will appoint him to be my firstborn, the most exalted of the kings of the earth.
I will always extend my loyal love to him, and my covenant with him is secure. My steadfast love I will keep for him forever, and my covenant will stand firm for him. I will maintain my love to him forever, and my covenant with him will never fail.
I will give him an eternal dynasty, and make his throne as enduring as the skies above. I will establish his offspring forever and his throne as the days of the heavens. I will establish his line forever, his throne as long as the heavens endure.
If his sons reject my law and disobey my regulations, If his children forsake my law and do not walk according to my rules, “If his sons forsake my law and do not follow my statutes,
if they break my rules and do not keep my commandments, if they violate my statutes and do not keep my commandments, if they violate my decrees and fail to keep my commands,
I will punish their rebellion by beating them with a club, their sin by inflicting them with bruises. then I will punish their transgression with the rod and their iniquity with stripes, I will punish their sin with the rod, their iniquity with flogging;
But I will not remove my loyal love from him, nor be unfaithful to my promise. but I will not remove from him my steadfast love or be false to my faithfulness. but I will not take my love from him, nor will I ever betray my faithfulness.
I will not break my covenant or go back on what I promised. I will not violate my covenant or alter the word that went forth from my lips. I will not violate my covenant or alter what my lips have uttered.
Once and for all I have vowed by my own holiness, I will never deceive David. Once for all I have sworn by my holiness; I will not lie to David. Once for all, I have sworn by my holiness— and I will not lie to David—
His dynasty will last forever. His throne will endure before me, like the sun, His offspring shall endure forever, his throne as long as the sun before me. that his line will continue forever and his throne endure before me like the sun;
it will remain stable, like the moon, his throne will endure like the skies.| (Selah) Like the moon it shall be established forever, a faithful witness in the skies.” Selah it will be established forever like the moon, the faithful witness in the sky.”
But you have spurned and rejected him; you are angry with your chosen king. But now you have cast off and rejected; you are full of wrath against your anointed. But you have rejected, you have spurned, you have been very angry with your anointed one.
You have repudiated your covenant with your servant; you have thrown his crown to the ground. You have renounced the covenant with your servant; you have defiled his crown in the dust. You have renounced the covenant with your servant and have defiled his crown in the dust.
You have broken down all his walls; you have made his strongholds a heap of ruins. You have breached all his walls; you have laid his strongholds in ruins. You have broken through all his walls and reduced his strongholds to ruins.
All who pass by have robbed him; he has become an object of disdain to his neighbors. All who pass by plunder him; he has become the scorn of his neighbors. All who pass by have plundered him; he has become the scorn of his neighbors.
You have allowed his adversaries to be victorious, and all his enemies to rejoice. You have exalted the right hand of his foes; you have made all his enemies rejoice. You have exalted the right hand of his foes; you have made all his enemies rejoice.
You turn back his sword from the adversary, and have not sustained him in battle. You have also turned back the edge of his sword, and you have not made him stand in battle. Indeed, you have turned back the edge of his sword and have not supported him in battle.
You have brought to an end his splendor, and have knocked his throne to the ground. You have made his splendor to cease and cast his throne to the ground. You have put an end to his splendor and cast his throne to the ground.
You have cut short his youth, and have covered him with shame. (Selah) You have cut short the days of his youth; you have covered him with shame. Selah You have cut short the days of his youth; you have covered him with a mantle of shame.
How long, O LORD, will this last? Will you remain hidden forever? Will your anger continue to burn like fire? How long, O LORD? Will you hide yourself forever? How long will your wrath burn like fire? How long, LORD? Will you hide yourself forever? How long will your wrath burn like fire?
Take note of my brief lifespan! Why do you make all people so mortal? Remember how short my time is! For what vanity you have created all the children of man! Remember how fleeting is my life. For what futility you have created all humanity!
No man can live on without experiencing death, or deliver his life from the power of Sheol. (Selah) What man can live and never see death? Who can deliver his soul from the power of Sheol? Selah Who can live and not see death, or who can escape the power of the grave?
Where are your earlier faithful deeds, O Lord, the ones performed in accordance with your reliable oath to David? Lord, where is your steadfast love of old, which by your faithfulness you swore to David? Lord, where is your former great love, which in your faithfulness you swore to David?
Take note, O Lord, of the way your servants are taunted, and of how I must bear so many insults from people! Remember, O Lord, how your servants are mocked, and how I bear in my heart the insults of all the many nations, Remember, Lord, how your servant has been mocked, how I bear in my heart the taunts of all the nations,
Your enemies, O LORD, hurl insults; they insult your chosen king as they dog his footsteps. with which your enemies mock, O LORD, with which they mock the footsteps of your anointed. the taunts with which your enemies, LORD, have mocked, with which they have mocked every step of your anointed one.
The LORD deserves praise forevermore! We agree! We agree! Blessed be the LORD forever! Amen and Amen. Praise be to the LORD forever! Amen and Amen.
