1	A Maskil of Ethan the Ezrahite. I will sing of the loving devotion of YHWH forever. To generation and generation I will make known Your faithfulness with my mouth.	I will sing of the steadfast love of the LORD, forever; with my mouth I will make known your faithfulness to all generations.	A maskil of Ethan the Ezrahite. 2	For I have said, “Loving devotion is built up forever; the heavens—You establish Your faithfulness in them.”	For I said, “Steadfast love will be built up forever; in the heavens you will establish your faithfulness.”	I will declare that your love stands firm forever, that you have established your faithfulness in heaven itself.
3	“I have cut a covenant with My chosen one, I have sworn to David My servant:	You have said, “I have made a covenant with my chosen one; I have sworn to David my servant:	You said, “I have made a covenant with my chosen one, I have sworn to David my servant,
4	‘Even to forever I will establish Your seed, and build up for generation and generation your throne.’” Selah	‘I will establish your offspring forever, and build your throne for all generations.’” Selah	I will establish your line forever and make your throne firm through all generations.’”
5	and the heavens will praise Your wonders, O YHWH, and Your faithfulness also in the assembly of the holy ones.	Let the heavens praise your wonders, O LORD, your faithfulness in the assembly of the holy ones!	The heavens praise your wonders, LORD, your faithfulness too, in the assembly of the holy ones.
6	For who in the heavens can be compared to YHWH, likened to YHWH among the sons of the mighty?	For who in the skies can be compared to the LORD? Who among the heavenly beings is like the LORD,	For who in the skies above can compare with the LORD? Who is like the LORD among the heavenly beings?
7	God is to be feared greatly in the council of the holy ones, and to be revered by all those surrounding Him.	a God greatly to be feared in the council of the holy ones, and awesome above all who are around him?	In the council of the holy ones God is greatly feared; he is more awesome than all who surround him.
8	O YHWH, God of Hosts, who is like You, O mighty YAH? And Your faithfulness surrounds You!	O LORD God of hosts, who is mighty as you are, O LORD, with your faithfulness all around you?	Who is like you, LORD God Almighty? You, LORD, are mighty, and your faithfulness surrounds you.
9	You rule over the pride of the sea; its waves mount up, and You still them.	You rule the raging of the sea; when its waves rise, you still them.	You rule over the surging sea; when its waves mount up, you still them.
10	You crushed Rahab as one slain; with the arm of Your strength, You scattered Your enemies.	You crushed Rahab like a carcass; you scattered your enemies with your mighty arm.	You crushed Rahab like one of the slain; with your strong arm you scattered your enemies.
11	Unto You are the heavens; the earth also is unto You; the world and its fullness—You have founded them.	The heavens are yours; the earth also is yours; the world and all that is in it, you have founded them.	The heavens are yours, and yours also the earth; you founded the world and all that is in it.
12	The north and the south, You have created them; Tabor and Hermon ring out praise in Your name.	The north and the south, you have created them; Tabor and Hermon joyously praise your name.	You created the north and the south; Tabor and Hermon sing for joy at your name.

14	Righteousness and justice are the foundation of Your throne; loving devotion and faithfulness go before Your face. 17	For You are the splendor of their strength, and by Your favor our horn is raised high.	For you are the glory of their strength; by your favor our horn is exalted.	For you are their glory and strength, and by your favor you exalt our horn.
18	Indeed, unto YHWH is our shield, and our king unto the Holy One of Israel.	For our shield belongs to the LORD, our king to the Holy One of Israel.	Indeed, our shield belongs to the LORD, our king to the Holy One of Israel.
19	Once You spoke in a vision to Your holy ones, and said: “I have given help to a mighty one; I have exalted one chosen from the people.	Of old you spoke in a vision to your godly one, and said: “I have granted help to one who is mighty; I have exalted one chosen from the people.	Once you spoke in a vision, to your faithful people you said: “I have bestowed strength on a warrior; I have raised up a young man from among the people.
20	I have found David My servant; with the oil of My holiness I anointed him,	I have found David, my servant; with my holy oil I have anointed him,	I have found David my servant; with my sacred oil I have anointed him.
21	with whom My hand is established—My arm also will strengthen him.	so that my hand shall be established with him; my arm also shall strengthen him.	My hand will sustain him; surely my arm will strengthen him.
22	The enemy will not exact tribute from him, and a son of wickedness shall not afflict him.	The enemy shall not outwit him; the wicked shall not humble him.	The enemy will not get the better of him; the wicked will not oppress him.
23	And I will crush his foes before his face, and those hating him I will strike.	I will crush his foes before him and strike down those who hate him.	I will crush his foes before him and strike down his adversaries.
24	And My faithfulness and My loving devotion are with him, and in My name his horn will be exalted.	My faithfulness and my steadfast love shall be with him, and in my name shall his horn be exalted.	My faithful love will be with him, and through my name his horn will be exalted.
25	And I will set his hand over the sea, and his right hand over the rivers.	I will set his hand on the sea and his right hand on the rivers.	I will set his hand over the sea, his right hand over the rivers.
26	He will call to Me, ‘You are My Father, my God, and the Rock of my salvation.’	He shall cry to me, ‘You are my Father, my God, and the Rock of my salvation.’	He will call out to me, ‘You are my Father, my God, the Rock my Savior.’
27	I also appoint him firstborn, the highest of the kings of the earth.	And I will make him the firstborn, the highest of the kings of the earth.	And I will appoint him to be my firstborn, the most exalted of the kings of the earth.
28	Forever I will keep for him My loving devotion, and My covenant will stand fast for him.	My steadfast love I will keep for him forever, and my covenant will stand firm for him.	I will maintain my love to him forever, and my covenant with him will never fail.
29	And I will establish His seed forever, and his throne like the days of the heavens.	I will establish his offspring forever and his throne as the days of the heavens.	I will establish his line forever, his throne as long as the heavens endure.
30	If his sons should abandon My instruction, and do not walk in My ordinances,	If his children forsake my law and do not walk according to my rules,	“If his sons forsake my law and do not follow my statutes,
31	if they violate My statutes, and do not keep My commandments,	if they violate my statutes and do not keep my commandments,	if they violate my decrees and fail to keep my commands,
32	then I will attend to their transgression with the rod, and to their iniquity with stripes.	then I will punish their transgression with the rod and their iniquity with stripes,	I will punish their sin with the rod, their iniquity with flogging;
33	And I will not break off My loving devotion from him, and I will not be false in My faithfulness.	but I will not remove from him my steadfast love or be false to my faithfulness.	but I will not take my love from him, nor will I ever betray my faithfulness.
34	I will not violate My covenant, and a declaration of My lips I will not change.	I will not violate my covenant or alter the word that went forth from my lips.	I will not violate my covenant or alter what my lips have uttered.
35	Once I have sworn by My holiness—I will not lie to David—	Once for all I have sworn by my holiness; I will not lie to David.	Once for all, I have sworn by my holiness— and I will not lie to David—
36	His seed shall be forever, and his throne like the sun before Me.	His offspring shall endure forever, his throne as long as the sun before me.	that his line will continue forever and his throne endure before me like the sun;
37	Like the moon It will be established forever, even as the faithful witness in the sky.” Selah	Like the moon it shall be established forever, a faithful witness in the skies.” Selah	it will be established forever like the moon, the faithful witness in the sky.”
38	and You have cast away and rejected; You have been enraged with Your anointed.	But now you have cast off and rejected; you are full of wrath against your anointed.	But you have rejected, you have spurned, you have been very angry with your anointed one.
39	You have renounced the covenant of Your servant; You have defiled his diadem on the ground.	You have renounced the covenant with your servant; you have defiled his crown in the dust.	You have renounced the covenant with your servant and have defiled his crown in the dust.
40	You have broken down all his walls; You have set his strongholds to ruin.	You have breached all his walls; you have laid his strongholds in ruins.	You have broken through all his walls and reduced his strongholds to ruins.
41	All passing by the way plunder him; he has become a reproach to his neighbors.	All who pass by plunder him; he has become the scorn of his neighbors.	All who pass by have plundered him; he has become the scorn of his neighbors.
42	You have raised high the right hand of his adversaries; all of his enemies You have made glad.	You have exalted the right hand of his foes; you have made all his enemies rejoice.	You have exalted the right hand of his foes; you have made all his enemies rejoice.
43	Also You have turned back the sharpness of his sword, and You have not made it stand in the battle.	You have also turned back the edge of his sword, and you have not made him stand in battle.	Indeed, you have turned back the edge of his sword and have not supported him in battle.
44	You have made his brightness cease, and You have cast down his throne to the ground.	You have made his splendor to cease and cast his throne to the ground.	You have put an end to his splendor and cast his throne to the ground.
45	You have shortened the days of his youth; You have covered over him with shame. Selah	You have cut short the days of his youth; you have covered him with shame. Selah	You have cut short the days of his youth; you have covered him with a mantle of shame.
46	until when, O YHWH? Will You hide Yourself forever? Will Your rage keep burning like fire?	How long, O LORD? Will you hide yourself forever? How long will your wrath burn like fire?	How long, LORD? Will you hide yourself forever? How long will your wrath burn like fire?
47	Remember me—how short a lifetime; for what emptiness You created all the sons of men!	Remember how short my time is! For what vanity you have created all the children of man!	Remember how fleeting is my life. For what futility you have created all humanity!
48	What man can live and not see death? Can he deliver his soul from the hand of Sheol? Selah	What man can live and never see death? Who can deliver his soul from the power of Sheol? Selah	Who can live and not see death, or who can escape the power of the grave?
49	where is Your loving devotion is Your Of old, O Lord, which You swore of David in Your faithfulness?	Lord, where is your steadfast love of old, which by your faithfulness you swore to David?	Lord, where is your former great love, which in your faithfulness you swore to David?
50	Remember, O Lord, the reproach of Your servants—I bear in my bosom from all the many peoples,	Remember, O Lord, how your servants are mocked, and how I bear in my heart the insults of all the many nations,	Remember, Lord, how your servant has been mocked, how I bear in my heart the taunts of all the nations,
51	with which Your enemies have taunted, O YHWH, with which they have reproached the footsteps of Your anointed one.	with which your enemies mock, O LORD, with which they mock the footsteps of your anointed.	the taunts with which your enemies, LORD, have mocked, with which they have mocked every step of your anointed one.
52	Blessed be YHWH forever! Amen and Amen.	Blessed be the LORD forever! Amen and Amen.	Praise be to the LORD forever! Amen and Amen.
