| 19And He said to them, “What things?” So they said to Him, “The things concerning Jesus of Nazareth, who was a Prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people, | 19"What things?" he asked. "About Jesus of Nazareth," they replied. "He was a prophet, powerful in word and deed before God and all the people. |
| 20and how the chief priests and our rulers delivered Him to be condemned to death, and crucified Him. | 20The chief priests and our rulers handed him over to be sentenced to death, and they crucified him; |
| 21But we were hoping that it was He who was going to redeem Israel. Indeed, besides all this, today is the third day since these things happened. | 21but we had hoped that he was the one who was going to redeem Israel. And what is more, it is the third day since all this took place. |
| 22Yes, and certain women of our company, who arrived at the tomb early, astonished us. | 22In addition, some of our women amazed us. They went to the tomb early this morning |

| 33So they rose up that very hour and returned to Jerusalem, and found the eleven and those who were with them gathered together, | 33They got up and returned at once to Jerusalem. There they found the Eleven and those with them, assembled together |
| 34saying, “The Lord is risen indeed, and has appeared to Simon!” | 34and saying, "It is true! The Lord has risen and has appeared to Simon." |
| 35And they told about the things that had happened on the road, and how He was known to them in the breaking of bread. | 35Then the two told what had happened on the way, and how Jesus was recognized by them when he broke the bread. |
| 36Now as they said these things, Jesus Himself stood in the midst of them, and said to them, “Peace to you.” | 36While they were still talking about this, Jesus himself stood among them and said to them, "Peace be with you." |
| 37But they were terrified and frightened, and supposed they had seen a spirit. | 37They were startled and frightened, thinking they saw a ghost. |
