You must not spread a false report. Do not join the wicked to be a malicious witness." 1"You shall not bear a false report; do not join your hand with a wicked man to be a malicious witness.
You must not follow a crowd in wrongdoing. Do not testify in a lawsuit and go along with a crowd to pervert justice.2"You shall not follow the masses in doing evil, nor shall you testify in a dispute so as to turn aside after a multitude in order to pervert justice;
Do not show favoritism to a poor person in his lawsuit." 3nor shall you be partial to a poor man in his dispute.
If you come across your enemy's stray ox or donkey, you must return it to him." 4"If you meet your enemy's ox or his donkey wandering away, you shall surely return it to him.
If you see the donkey of someone who hates you lying helpless under its load, and you want to refrain from helping it, you must help with it." 5"If you see the donkey of one who hates you lying helpless under its load, you shall refrain from leaving it to him, you shall surely release it with him.
You must not deny justice to a poor person among you in his lawsuit. 6"You shall not pervert the justice due to your needy brother in his dispute.
Stay far away from a false accusation. Do not kill the innocent and the just, because I will not justify the guilty.7"Keep far from a false charge, and do not kill the innocent or the righteous, for I will not acquit the guilty.
You must not take a bribe, for a bribe blinds the clear-sighted and corrupts the words of the righteous. 8"You shall not take a bribe, for a bribe blinds the clear-sighted and subverts the cause of the just.
You must not oppress a foreign resident; you yourselves know how it feels to be a foreigner because you were foreigners in the land of Egypt." 9"You shall not oppress a stranger, since you yourselves know the feelings of a stranger, for you also were strangers in the land of Egypt.
Sow your land for six years and gather its produce.10"You shall sow your land for six years and gather in its yield,
But during the seventh year you are to let it rest and leave it uncultivated, so that the poor among your people may eat from it and the wild animals may consume what they leave. Do the same with your vineyard and your olive grove." 11but on the seventh year you shall let it rest and lie fallow, so that the needy of your people may eat; and whatever they leave the beast of the field may eat. You are to do the same with your vineyard and your olive grove.
Do your work for six days but rest on the seventh day so that your ox and your donkey may rest, and the son of your female slave as well as the foreign resident may be refreshed." 12"Six days you are to do your work, but on the seventh day you shall cease from labor so that your ox and your donkey may rest, and the son of your female slave, as well as your stranger, may refresh themselves.
Pay strict attention to everything I have said to you. You must not invoke the names of other gods; they must not be heard on your lips." 13"Now concerning everything which I have said to you, be on your guard; and do not mention the name of other gods, nor let them be heard from your mouth.
Celebrate a festival in My honor three times a year.14"Three times a year you shall celebrate a feast to Me.
Observe the Festival of Unleavened Bread. As I commanded you, you are to eat unleavened bread for seven days at the appointed time in the month of Abib, because you came out of Egypt in that month. No one is to appear before Me empty-handed.15"You shall observe the Feast of Unleavened Bread; for seven days you are to eat unleavened bread, as I commanded you, at the appointed time in the month Abib, for in it you came out of Egypt. And none shall appear before Me empty-handed.
Also observe the Festival of Harvest with the firstfruits of your produce from what you sow in the field, and observe the Festival of Ingathering at the end of the year, when you gather your produce from the field. 16"Also you shall observe the Feast of the Harvest of the first fruits of your labors from what you sow in the field; also the Feast of the Ingathering at the end of the year when you gather in the fruit of your labors from the field.
Three times a year all your males are to appear before the Lord GOD." 17"Three times a year all your males shall appear before the Lord GOD.
You must not offer the blood of My sacrifices with anything leavened. The fat of My festival offering must not remain until morning." 18"You shall not offer the blood of My sacrifice with leavened bread; nor is the fat of My feast to remain overnight until morning.
Bring the best of the firstfruits of your land to the house of the LORD your God." You must not boil a young goat in its mother's milk." 19"You shall bring the choice first fruits of your soil into the house of the LORD your God. "You are not to boil a young goat in the milk of its mother.
I am going to send an angel before you to protect you on the way and bring you to the place I have prepared. 20"Behold, I am going to send an angel before you to guard you along the way and to bring you into the place which I have prepared.
Be attentive to him and listen to his voice. Do not defy him, because he will not forgive your acts of rebellion, for My name is in him.21"Be on your guard before him and obey his voice; do not be rebellious toward him, for he will not pardon your transgression, since My name is in him.
But if you will carefully obey him and do everything I say, then I will be an enemy to your enemies and a foe to your foes. 22"But if you truly obey his voice and do all that I say, then I will be an enemy to your enemies and an adversary to your adversaries.
For My angel will go before you and bring you to the land of the Amorites, Hittites, Perizzites, Canaanites, Hivites, and Jebusites, and I will wipe them out.23"For My angel will go before you and bring you in to the land of the Amorites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Canaanites, the Hivites and the Jebusites; and I will completely destroy them.
You must not bow down to their gods or worship them. Do not imitate their practices. Instead, demolish them and smash their sacred pillars to pieces.24"You shall not worship their gods, nor serve them, nor do according to their deeds; but you shall utterly overthrow them and break their sacred pillars in pieces.
Worship the LORD your God, and He will bless your bread and your water. I will remove illnesses from you.25"But you shall serve the LORD your God, and He will bless your bread and your water; and I will remove sickness from your midst.
No woman will miscarry or be childless in your land. I will give you the full number of your days." 26"There shall be no one miscarrying or barren in your land; I will fulfill the number of your days.
I will cause the people ahead of you to feel terror and throw into confusion all the nations you come to. I will make all your enemies turn their backs to you in retreat.27"I will send My terror ahead of you, and throw into confusion all the people among whom you come, and I will make all your enemies turn their backs to you.
I will send the hornet in front of you, and it will drive the Hivites, Canaanites, and Hittites away from you. 28"I will send hornets ahead of you so that they will drive out the Hivites, the Canaanites, and the Hittites before you.
I will not drive them out ahead of you in a single year; otherwise, the land would become desolate, and wild animals would multiply against you. 29"I will not drive them out before you in a single year, that the land may not become desolate and the beasts of the field become too numerous for you.
I will drive them out little by little ahead of you until you have become numerous and take possession of the land. 30"I will drive them out before you little by little, until you become fruitful and take possession of the land.
I will set your borders from the Red Sea to the Mediterranean Sea, and from the wilderness to the Euphrates River. For I will place the inhabitants of the land under your control, and you will drive them out ahead of you.31"I will fix your boundary from the Red Sea to the sea of the Philistines, and from the wilderness to the River Euphrates; for I will deliver the inhabitants of the land into your hand, and you will drive them out before you.
You must not make a covenant with them or their gods. 32"You shall make no covenant with them or with their gods.
They must not remain in your land, or else they will make you sin against Me. If you worship their gods, it will be a snare for you." 33"They shall not live in your land, because they will make you sin against Me; for if you serve their gods, it will surely be a snare to you."
