HCSB Parallel ESV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
Holman Christian Standard BibleEnglish Standard Version
You must not spread a false report. Do not join the wicked to be a malicious witness." 1“You shall not spread a false report. You shall not join hands with a wicked man to be a malicious witness.
You must not follow a crowd in wrongdoing. Do not testify in a lawsuit and go along with a crowd to pervert justice.2You shall not fall in with the many to do evil, nor shall you bear witness in a lawsuit, siding with the many, so as to pervert justice,
Do not show favoritism to a poor person in his lawsuit." 3nor shall you be partial to a poor man in his lawsuit.
If you come across your enemy's stray ox or donkey, you must return it to him." 4“If you meet your enemy’s ox or his donkey going astray, you shall bring it back to him.
If you see the donkey of someone who hates you lying helpless under its load, and you want to refrain from helping it, you must help with it." 5If you see the donkey of one who hates you lying down under its burden, you shall refrain from leaving him with it; you shall rescue it with him.
You must not deny justice to a poor person among you in his lawsuit. 6“You shall not pervert the justice due to your poor in his lawsuit.
Stay far away from a false accusation. Do not kill the innocent and the just, because I will not justify the guilty.7Keep far from a false charge, and do not kill the innocent and righteous, for I will not acquit the wicked.
You must not take a bribe, for a bribe blinds the clear-sighted and corrupts the words of the righteous. 8And you shall take no bribe, for a bribe blinds the clear-sighted and subverts the cause of those who are in the right.
You must not oppress a foreign resident; you yourselves know how it feels to be a foreigner because you were foreigners in the land of Egypt." 9“You shall not oppress a sojourner. You know the heart of a sojourner, for you were sojourners in the land of Egypt.
Sow your land for six years and gather its produce.10“For six years you shall sow your land and gather in its yield,
But during the seventh year you are to let it rest and leave it uncultivated, so that the poor among your people may eat from it and the wild animals may consume what they leave. Do the same with your vineyard and your olive grove." 11but the seventh year you shall let it rest and lie fallow, that the poor of your people may eat; and what they leave the beasts of the field may eat. You shall do likewise with your vineyard, and with your olive orchard.
Do your work for six days but rest on the seventh day so that your ox and your donkey may rest, and the son of your female slave as well as the foreign resident may be refreshed." 12“Six days you shall do your work, but on the seventh day you shall rest; that your ox and your donkey may have rest, and the son of your servant woman, and the alien, may be refreshed.
Pay strict attention to everything I have said to you. You must not invoke the names of other gods; they must not be heard on your lips." 13“Pay attention to all that I have said to you, and make no mention of the names of other gods, nor let it be heard on your lips.
Celebrate a festival in My honor three times a year.14“Three times in the year you shall keep a feast to me.
Observe the Festival of Unleavened Bread. As I commanded you, you are to eat unleavened bread for seven days at the appointed time in the month of Abib, because you came out of Egypt in that month. No one is to appear before Me empty-handed.15You shall keep the Feast of Unleavened Bread. As I commanded you, you shall eat unleavened bread for seven days at the appointed time in the month of Abib, for in it you came out of Egypt. None shall appear before me empty-handed.
Also observe the Festival of Harvest with the firstfruits of your produce from what you sow in the field, and observe the Festival of Ingathering at the end of the year, when you gather your produce from the field. 16You shall keep the Feast of Harvest, of the firstfruits of your labor, of what you sow in the field. You shall keep the Feast of Ingathering at the end of the year, when you gather in from the field the fruit of your labor.
Three times a year all your males are to appear before the Lord GOD." 17Three times in the year shall all your males appear before the Lord GOD.
You must not offer the blood of My sacrifices with anything leavened. The fat of My festival offering must not remain until morning." 18“You shall not offer the blood of my sacrifice with anything leavened, or let the fat of my feast remain until the morning.
Bring the best of the firstfruits of your land to the house of the LORD your God." You must not boil a young goat in its mother's milk." 19“The best of the firstfruits of your ground you shall bring into the house of the LORD your God. “You shall not boil a young goat in its mother’s milk.
I am going to send an angel before you to protect you on the way and bring you to the place I have prepared. 20“Behold, I send an angel before you to guard you on the way and to bring you to the place that I have prepared.
Be attentive to him and listen to his voice. Do not defy him, because he will not forgive your acts of rebellion, for My name is in him.21Pay careful attention to him and obey his voice; do not rebel against him, for he will not pardon your transgression, for my name is in him.
But if you will carefully obey him and do everything I say, then I will be an enemy to your enemies and a foe to your foes. 22“But if you carefully obey his voice and do all that I say, then I will be an enemy to your enemies and an adversary to your adversaries.
For My angel will go before you and bring you to the land of the Amorites, Hittites, Perizzites, Canaanites, Hivites, and Jebusites, and I will wipe them out.23“When my angel goes before you and brings you to the Amorites and the Hittites and the Perizzites and the Canaanites, the Hivites and the Jebusites, and I blot them out,
You must not bow down to their gods or worship them. Do not imitate their practices. Instead, demolish them and smash their sacred pillars to pieces.24you shall not bow down to their gods nor serve them, nor do as they do, but you shall utterly overthrow them and break their pillars in pieces.
Worship the LORD your God, and He will bless your bread and your water. I will remove illnesses from you.25You shall serve the LORD your God, and he will bless your bread and your water, and I will take sickness away from among you.
No woman will miscarry or be childless in your land. I will give you the full number of your days." 26None shall miscarry or be barren in your land; I will fulfill the number of your days.
I will cause the people ahead of you to feel terror and throw into confusion all the nations you come to. I will make all your enemies turn their backs to you in retreat.27I will send my terror before you and will throw into confusion all the people against whom you shall come, and I will make all your enemies turn their backs to you.
I will send the hornet in front of you, and it will drive the Hivites, Canaanites, and Hittites away from you. 28And I will send hornets before you, which shall drive out the Hivites, the Canaanites, and the Hittites from before you.
I will not drive them out ahead of you in a single year; otherwise, the land would become desolate, and wild animals would multiply against you. 29I will not drive them out from before you in one year, lest the land become desolate and the wild beasts multiply against you.
I will drive them out little by little ahead of you until you have become numerous and take possession of the land. 30Little by little I will drive them out from before you, until you have increased and possess the land.
I will set your borders from the Red Sea to the Mediterranean Sea, and from the wilderness to the Euphrates River. For I will place the inhabitants of the land under your control, and you will drive them out ahead of you.31And I will set your border from the Red Sea to the Sea of the Philistines, and from the wilderness to the Euphrates, for I will give the inhabitants of the land into your hand, and you shall drive them out before you.
You must not make a covenant with them or their gods. 32You shall make no covenant with them and their gods.
They must not remain in your land, or else they will make you sin against Me. If you worship their gods, it will be a snare for you." 33They shall not dwell in your land, lest they make you sin against me; for if you serve their gods, it will surely be a snare to you.”
