1In those days, when a large crowd had gathered, and had nothing to eat, Jesus called His disciples to Him, and said, 2I have compassion for these people because they have now been with Me three days, and have nothing to eat. 3And if I send them to their homes hungry, some may faint along the way; for some came from afar.” 4And His disciples answered, “From where in this wilderness can a man get enough food to satisfy this many men?” 5And He asked them, “How many loaves do you have?” And they said, “Seven”. 6And He told the people to sit on the ground: and He took the seven loaves, and gave thanks, and broke, and gave them to His disciples to set before them; and they distributed them among the people. 7And they also had a few small fish; and He blessed, and ordered them to set those also before them. 8So they ate, and were filled; and they took up of the broken pieces that were left seven baskets. 9And those that had eaten were about four thousand; and He sent them away.

10And then He got into a boat with His disciples, and came into the regions of Dalmanutha. 11And the Pharisees came out, and began to question Him, and asking Him for a sign from heaven, testing Him. 12And He sighed deeply in His spirit, and said, “Why does this generation ask after a sign? Truly I tell you, there shall no sign be given to this generation.” 13And He left them, got into the boat again, departed for the other side.

14Now the disciples had forgotten to take bread, except for just one loaf. 15And He warned them, saying, “Take heed, beware of the yeast of the Pharisees, and of the leaven of Herod.” 16And they discussed among themselves, saying, “It is because we have no bread”. 17And when Jesus knew what they thought, He said to them, “Why are you talking about having no bread? Do you not yet perceive or understand? Have you your heart been hardened? 18You have eyes, do you not see? And have ears, and hear not? and do you not remember anything at all? 19When I broke the five loaves among five thousand, how many baskets full of fragments did you take up?” They replied to Him, “Twelve.” 20“And when I broke the seven among four thousand, how many baskets full of fragments did you take up?” And they replied, “Seven”. 21And He said unto them, “How is it that you do not understand?”

22And He came to Bethsaida; and they brought a blind man to Him, and asked Him for His healing touch. 23And He took the blind man by the hand, and led him out of the town; and when He had spit on his eyes, and put His hands upon him, He asked him if he saw anything. 24And he looked up, and said, “I see men that look like trees walking around,”. 25And then He put His hands upon his eyes again, and had him look up; and his vision was restored, and saw every man clearly. 26And He sent him home, saying, “Do not go into the town, nor tell it to anyone in the town”.

27And Jesus and His disciples went out into the towns of Caesarea Philippi; and along the way He asked His disciples, “Who do people say that I am?” 28And they answered, “’John the Baptist’; but others say, ‘Elijah’; and others, ‘One of the prophets.’” 29And He said unto them, “But who do you say that I am?” And Peter answered Him, “You are the Christ”. 30And He told them that they should tell no man about Him.

31And then He began to teach them that the Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders, the chief priests, and scribes, and be killed, and after three days, rise again. 32And He spoke plainly about this. And Peter took Him aside, and began to rebuke Him. 33But when Jesus had turned and looked at His disciples, He rebuked Peter by saying, “Get you behind Me, Satan; for you do not value the things that are of God, but the things that are of men.”

34And when He had called the people to Him, along with His disciples, He said to them, “Whoever wants to follow Me, let him deny himself, take up his cross, and follow Me. 35For whoever wants to save his life shall lose it; but whoever loses his life for My sake and the gospel's, shall save it. 36For what shall it profit a man, if he gains the entire world, and loses his own soul? 37Or what can anyone give in exchange for their soul? 38Therefore, whoever is ashamed of Me and of My words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of them shall I, the Son of man, also be ashamed, when I come in the glory of My Father with the holy angels.
