The Portions for the Tribes

1  וְאֵ֖לֶּה (And these are) שְׁמ֣וֹת (the names) הַשְּׁבָטִ֑ים (of the tribes).

מִקְצֵ֣ה (From the border) צָפ֡וֹנָה (of the north) אֶל־ (along) יַ֣ד (the coast) דֶּֽרֶךְ־ (of the way) חֶתְלֹ֣ן׀ (of Hethlon), לְֽבוֹא־ (at the entrance) חֲמָ֡ת (of Hamath), חֲצַ֣ר (unto Hazar-) עֵינָן֩ (enan), גְּב֨וּל (on the border) דַּמֶּ֤שֶׂק (of Damascus) צָפ֙וֹנָה֙ (northward), אֶל־ (toward) יַ֣ד (the hand) חֲמָ֔ת (of Hamath); וְהָיוּ־ (and will there be) ל֧וֹ (from) פְאַת־ (the side) קָדִ֛ים (of the east) הַיָּ֖ם (to the west); דָּ֥ן (for Dan) אֶחָֽד׃ (one portion).

2  וְעַ֣ל׀ (And along) גְּב֣וּל (the border) דָּ֗ן (of Dan), מִפְּאַ֥ת (from the side) קָדִ֛ים (of the east) עַד־ (to) פְּאַת־ (the side), יָ֖מָּה (of the west) אָשֵׁ֥ר (for Asher) אֶחָֽד׃ (one portion).

3  וְעַ֣ל׀ (And along) גְּב֣וּל (the border) אָשֵׁ֗ר (of Asher), מִפְּאַ֥ת (from the side) קָדִ֛ימָה (of the east) וְעַד־ (and to) פְּאַת־ (the side), יָ֖מָּה (of the west) נַפְתָּלִ֥י (for Naphtali) אֶחָֽד׃ (one portion).

4  וְעַ֣ל׀ (And along) גְּב֣וּל (the border) נַפְתָּלִ֗י (of Naphtali), מִפְּאַ֥ת (from the side) קָדִ֛מָה (of the east) עַד־ (to) פְּאַת־ (the side), יָ֖מָּה (of the west) מְנַשֶּׁ֥ה (for Manasseh) אֶחָֽד׃ (one portion).

5  וְעַ֣ל׀ (And along) גְּב֣וּל (the border) מְנַשֶּׁ֗ה (of Manasseh), מִפְּאַ֥ת (from the side) קָדִ֛מָה (of the east) עַד־ (to) פְּאַת־ (the side), יָ֖מָּה (of the west) אֶפְרַ֥יִם (for Ephraim) אֶחָֽד׃ (one portion).

6  וְעַ֣ל׀ (And along) גְּב֣וּל (the border) אֶפְרַ֗יִם (of Ephraim), מִפְּאַ֥ת (from the side) קָדִ֛ים (of the east) וְעַד־ (and to) פְּאַת־ (the side), יָ֖מָּה (of the west) רְאוּבֵ֥ן (for Reuben) אֶחָֽד׃ (one portion).

7  וְעַ֣ל׀ (And along) גְּב֣וּל (the border) רְאוּבֵ֗ן (of Reuben), מִפְּאַ֥ת (from the side) קָדִ֛ים (of the east) עַד־ (to) פְּאַת־ (the side), יָ֖מָּה (of the west) יְהוּדָ֥ה (for Judah) אֶחָֽד׃ (one portion).

The Portions for the Priests and Levites

8  וְעַל֙ (And along) גְּב֣וּל (the border) יְהוּדָ֔ה (of Judah), מִפְּאַ֥ת (from the side) קָדִ֖ים (of the east) עַד־ (to) פְּאַת־ (the side), יָ֑מָּה (of the west) תִּהְיֶ֣ה (will be) הַתְּרוּמָ֣ה (the portion) אֲ‍ֽשֶׁר־ (which) תָּרִ֡ימוּ (you⁺ will lift up) חֲמִשָּׁה֩ (five) וְעֶשְׂרִ֨ים (and twenty) אֶ֜לֶף (thousand) רֹ֗חַב (in width), וְאֹ֜רֶךְ (and in length) כְּאַחַ֤ד (as one) הַחֲלָקִים֙ (of the portions), מִפְּאַ֤ת (from the side) קָדִ֙ימָה֙ (of the east) עַד־ (to) פְּאַת־ (the side); יָ֔מָּה (of the west) וְהָיָ֥ה (and) הַמִּקְדָּ֖שׁ (the with sanctuary) בְּתוֹכֽוֹ׃ (in the middle of it).

9  הַתְּרוּמָ֕ה (The portion) אֲשֶׁ֥ר (which) תָּרִ֖ימוּ (you⁺ shall lift up) לַֽיהוָ֑ה (for YHWH) אֹ֗רֶךְ (in length shall be), חֲמִשָּׁ֤ה (five) וְעֶשְׂרִים֙ (and twenty) אֶ֔לֶף (thousand) וְרֹ֖חַב (and in width) עֲשֶׂ֥רֶת (ten) אֲלָפִֽים׃ (thousand).

10  וּ֠לְאֵ֜לֶּה (And to these), תִּהְיֶ֣ה (will be) תְרֽוּמַת־ (the portion); הַקֹּדֶשׁ֮ (of holiness) לַכֹּֽהֲנִים֒ (for the priests), צָפ֜וֹנָה (to the north) חֲמִשָּׁ֧ה (five) וְעֶשְׂרִ֣ים (and twenty) אֶ֗לֶף (thousand) וְיָ֙מָּה֙ (and to the west) רֹ֚חַב (in width), עֲשֶׂ֣רֶת (ten) אֲלָפִ֔ים (thousand) וְקָדִ֗ימָה (and to the east) רֹ֚חַב (in width), עֲשֶׂ֣רֶת (ten) אֲלָפִ֔ים (thousand) וְנֶ֕גְבָּה (and to the south) אֹ֕רֶךְ (in length); חֲמִשָּׁ֥ה (five) וְעֶשְׂרִ֖ים (and twenty) אָ֑לֶף (thousand) וְהָיָ֥ה (and will be) מִקְדַּשׁ־ (the sanctuary) יְהוָ֖ה (of YHWH) בְּתוֹכֽוֹ׃ (in the middle of it). 11  לַכֹּהֲנִ֤ים (For the priests) הַֽמְקֻדָּשׁ֙ (who are sanctified) מִבְּנֵ֣י (from the sons) צָד֔וֹק (of Zadok); אֲשֶׁ֥ר (those who) שָׁמְר֖וּ (have kept) מִשְׁמַרְתִּ֑י (My charge), אֲשֶׁ֣ר (who) לֹֽא־ (not) תָע֗וּ (did go astray) בִּתְעוֹת֙ (in the straying of) בְּנֵ֣י (the sons) יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל (of Israel), כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר (as) תָּע֖וּ (went astray) הַלְוִיִּֽם׃ס (the Levites). 12  וְהָיְתָ֨ה (And will be) לָהֶ֧ם (for them) תְּרוּמִיָּ֛ה (a special portion) מִתְּרוּמַ֥ת (from the portion) הָאָ֖רֶץ (of the land) קֹ֣דֶשׁ (a holy) קָדָשִׁ֑ים (of holies) אֶל־ (toward) גְּב֖וּל (the border) הַלְוִיִּֽם׃ (of the Levites).

13  וְהַלְוִיִּ֗ם (And the Levites shall be) לְעֻמַּת֙ (next to) גְּב֣וּל (the border) הַכֹּהֲנִ֔ים (of the priests) חֲמִשָּׁ֨ה (five) וְעֶשְׂרִ֥ים (and twenty) אֶ֙לֶף֙ (thousand) אֹ֔רֶךְ (in length), וְרֹ֖חַב (and in width). עֲשֶׂ֣רֶת (Ten) אֲלָפִ֑ים (thousand) כָּל־ (all) אֹ֗רֶךְ (the length shall be) חֲמִשָּׁ֤ה (five) וְעֶשְׂרִים֙ (and twenty) אֶ֔לֶף (thousand), וְרֹ֖חַב (and the width) עֲשֶׂ֥רֶת (ten) אֲלָפִֽים׃ (thousand). 14  וְלֹא־ (And not) יִמְכְּר֣וּ (will they sell) מִמֶּ֗נּוּ (of it) וְלֹ֥א (and not) יָמֵ֛ר (exchange it), וְלֹ֥א (and not) יַעֲבוּר (shall they make pass through) רֵאשִׁ֣ית (the firstfruit) הָאָ֑רֶץ (of the land); כִּי־ (for) קֹ֖דֶשׁ (it is holy) לַיהוָֽה׃ (to YHWH).

The Common Portion

15  וַחֲמֵ֨שֶׁת (And the five) אֲלָפִ֜ים (thousand), הַנּוֹתָ֣ר (that are remaining) בָּרֹ֗חַב (in width) עַל־ (along) פְּנֵ֨י (the edge) חֲמִשָּׁ֤ה (of five) וְעֶשְׂרִים֙ (and the twenty) אֶ֔לֶף (thousand), חֹֽל־ (is for common use) ה֣וּא (it is) לָעִ֔יר (for the city), לְמוֹשָׁ֖ב (for dwellings), וּלְמִגְרָ֑שׁ (and for pastureland); וְהָיְתָ֥ה (and will be) הָעִ֖יר (the city) בְּתוֹכֹה׃ (in the middle of it). 16  וְאֵלֶּה֮ (And these shall be) מִדּוֹתֶיהָ֒ (its measurements) פְּאַ֣ת (the side) צָפ֗וֹן (of the north) חֲמֵ֤שׁ (five) מֵאוֹת֙ (hundred), וְאַרְבַּ֣עַת (and four) אֲלָפִ֔ים (thousand) וּפְאַת־ (and the side) נֶ֕גֶב (of the south) חֲמֵ֥שׁ (five and) חמש (five) מֵא֖וֹת (hundred), וְאַרְבַּ֣עַת (and four) אֲלָפִ֑ים (thousand) וּמִפְּאַ֣ת (and the side) קָדִ֗ים (of the east) חֲמֵ֤שׁ (five) מֵאוֹת֙ (hundred), וְאַרְבַּ֣עַת (and four) אֲלָפִ֔ים (thousand) וּפְאַת־ (and the side) יָ֕מָּה (of the west) חֲמֵ֥שׁ (five) מֵא֖וֹת (hundred) וְאַרְבַּ֥עַת (and four) אֲלָפִֽים׃ (thousand).

17  וְהָיָ֣ה (Will be) מִגְרָשׁ֮ (and the pastureland) לָעִיר֒ (for the city) צָפ֙וֹנָה֙ (to the north) חֲמִשִּׁ֣ים (fifty), וּמָאתַ֔יִם (and two hundred) וְנֶ֖גְבָּה (and to the south) חֲמִשִּׁ֣ים (fifty), וּמָאתָ֑יִם (and two hundred) וְקָדִ֙ימָה֙ (and to the east) חֲמִשִּׁ֣ים (fifty), וּמָאתַ֔יִם (and two hundred) וְיָ֖מָּה (and to the west) חֲמִשִּׁ֥ים (fifty) וּמָאתָֽיִם׃ (and two hundred).

18  וְהַנּוֹתָ֨ר (And the remainder) בָּאֹ֜רֶךְ (of the length) לְעֻמַּ֣ת׀ (alongside) תְּרוּמַ֣ת (the portion) הַקֹּ֗דֶשׁ (of holiness shall be) עֲשֶׂ֨רֶת (ten) אֲלָפִ֤ים (thousand) קָדִ֙ימָה֙ (to the east), וַעֲשֶׂ֤רֶת (and ten) אֲלָפִים֙ (thousand) יָ֔מָּה (to the west); וְהָיָ֕ה (and it will be) לְעֻמַּ֖ת (adjacent to) תְּרוּמַ֣ת (the portion) הַקֹּ֑דֶשׁ (of holiness) וְהָיְתָ֤ה (and will be) תְבוּאָתֹה (its produce) לְלֶ֔חֶם (for food) לְעֹבְדֵ֖י (for the workers) הָעִֽיר׃ (of the city). 19  וְהָעֹבֵ֖ד (And the workers) הָעִ֑יר (of the city) יַעַבְד֕וּהוּ (will work it) מִכֹּ֖ל (from all) שִׁבְטֵ֥י (the tribes) יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ (of Israel).

20  כָּל־ (All) הַתְּרוּמָ֗ה (the portion shall be) חֲמִשָּׁ֤ה (five) וְעֶשְׂרִים֙ (and twenty) אֶ֔לֶף (thousand) בַּחֲמִשָּׁ֥ה (by five) וְעֶשְׂרִ֖ים (and twenty) אָ֑לֶף (thousand); רְבִיעִ֗ית (foursquare), תָּרִ֙ימוּ֙ (you⁺ shall lift up) אֶת־ (-) תְּרוּמַ֣ת (the portion) הַקֹּ֔דֶשׁ (of holiness) אֶל־ (along with) אֲחֻזַּ֖ת (the property) הָעִֽיר׃ (of the city).

The Portion for the Prince

21  וְהַנּוֹתָ֣ר (And the remainder) לַנָּשִׂ֣יא (is unto the prince), מִזֶּ֣ה׀ (on this side) וּמִזֶּ֣ה׀ (and on this side) לִתְרֽוּמַת־ (of the portion), הַקֹּ֣דֶשׁ (of holiness) וְלַאֲחֻזַּ֪ת (and the property) הָעִ֟יר (of the city), אֶל־ (toward) פְּנֵ֣י (the faces) חֲמִשָּׁה֩ (of the five) וְעֶשְׂרִ֨ים (and twenty) אֶ֥לֶף׀ (thousand) תְּרוּמָה֮ (portion) עַד־ (alongside) גְּב֣וּל (the border), קָדִימָה֒ (of the east) וְיָ֗מָּה (and westward) עַל־ (alongside) פְּ֠נֵי (the faces) חֲמִשָּׁ֨ה (of the five) וְעֶשְׂרִ֥ים (and twenty) אֶ֙לֶף֙ (thousand) עַל־ (along) גְּב֣וּל (the border), יָ֔מָּה (of the west) לְעֻמַּ֥ת (adjacent to) חֲלָקִ֖ים (the allotments) לַנָּשִׂ֑יא (is unto the prince). וְהָֽיְתָה֙ (And will be) תְּרוּמַ֣ת (the portion); הַקֹּ֔דֶשׁ (of holiness) וּמִקְדַּ֥שׁ (and the sanctuary) הַבַּ֖יִת (of the temple) בְּתוֹכֹה׃ (in the midst of it).

22  וּמֵאֲחֻזַּ֤ת (And apart from the possession) הַלְוִיִּם֙ (of the Levites), וּמֵאֲחֻזַּ֣ת (and the from possession) הָעִ֔יר (of the city), בְּת֛וֹךְ (in the midst) אֲשֶׁ֥ר (of what) לַנָּשִׂ֖יא (unto the prince), יִֽהְיֶ֑ה (will be) בֵּ֣ין׀ (between) גְּב֣וּל (the border) יְהוּדָ֗ה (of Judah) וּבֵין֙ (and between) גְּב֣וּל (the border) בִּנְיָמִ֔ן (of Benjamin), לַנָּשִׂ֖יא (unto the prince) יִהְיֶֽה׃ (will be).

The Portions for the Remaining Tribes

23  וְיֶ֖תֶר (And the rest) הַשְּׁבָטִ֑ים (of the tribes),

מִפְּאַ֥ת (from the side) קָדִ֛ימָה (of the east) עַד־ (to) פְּאַת־ (the side), יָ֖מָּה (of the west) בִּנְיָמִ֥ן (Benjamin shall have) אֶחָֽד׃ (one portion).

24  וְעַ֣ל׀ (And along) גְּב֣וּל (the border) בִּנְיָמִ֗ן (of Benjamin), מִפְּאַ֥ת (from the side) קָדִ֛ימָה (of the east) עַד־ (to) פְּאַת־ (the side), יָ֖מָּה (of the west) שִׁמְע֥וֹן (Simeon shall have) אֶחָֽד׃ (one portion).

25  וְעַ֣ל׀ (And along) גְּב֣וּל (the border) שִׁמְע֗וֹן (of Simeon), מִפְּאַ֥ת (from the side) קָדִ֛ימָה (of east) עַד־ (to) פְּאַת־ (the side), יָ֖מָּה (of the west) יִשָׂשכָ֥ר (Issachar shall have) אֶחָֽד׃ (one portion).

26  וְעַ֣ל׀ (And along) גְּב֣וּל (the border) יִשָׂשכָ֗ר (of Issachar), מִפְּאַ֥ת (from the side) קָדִ֛ימָה (of the east) עַד־ (to) פְּאַת־ (the side), יָ֖מָּה (of the west) זְבוּלֻ֥ן (Zebulun shall have) אֶחָֽד׃ (one portion).

27  וְעַ֣ל׀ (And along) גְּב֣וּל (the border) זְבוּלֻ֗ן (of Zebulun), מִפְּאַ֥ת (from the side) קָדִ֛מָה (of the east) עַד־ (to) פְּאַת־ (the side), יָ֖מָּה (of the west) גָּ֥ד (Gad shall have) אֶחָֽד׃ (one portion).

28  וְעַל֙ (And along) גְּב֣וּל (the border) גָּ֔ד (of Gad), אֶל־ (on) פְּאַ֖ת (the side) נֶ֣גֶב (of the Negev) תֵּימָ֑נָה (toward the south), וְהָיָ֨ה (and will be) גְב֜וּל (the border) מִתָּמָ֗ר (from Tamar) מֵ֚י (to the waters) מְרִיבַ֣ת (of Meribah) קָדֵ֔שׁ (Kadesh), נַחֲלָ֖ה (along the brook) עַל־ (to) הַיָּ֥ם (the Sea) הַגָּדֽוֹל׃ (great). 29  זֹ֥את (This is) הָאָ֛רֶץ (the land) אֲשֶׁר־ (that) תַּפִּ֥ילוּ (you⁺ shall allot) מִֽנַּחֲלָ֖ה (as an inheritance), לְשִׁבְטֵ֣י (among the tribes) יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל (of Israel) וְאֵ֙לֶּה֙ (and these are) מַחְלְקוֹתָ֔ם (their portions), נְאֻ֖ם (a declaration) אֲדֹנָ֥י (of the Lord) יְהוִֽה׃פ (YHWH).

The City Gates and Dimensions

30  וְאֵ֖לֶּה (And these are) תּוֹצְאֹ֣ת (the exits) הָעִ֑יר (of the city)

מִפְּאַ֣ת (on the side), צָפ֔וֹן (of the north) חֲמֵ֥שׁ (which is five) מֵא֛וֹת (hundred) וְאַרְבַּ֥עַת (and four) אֲלָפִ֖ים (thousand) מִדָּֽה׃ (by measure). 31  וְשַׁעֲרֵ֣י (And these gates) הָעִ֗יר (of the city) עַל־ (are according to) שְׁמוֹת֙ (the names) שִׁבְטֵ֣י (of the tribes) יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל (of Israel), שְׁעָרִ֥ים (gates) שְׁלוֹשָׁ֖ה (three) צָפ֑וֹנָה (to the north); שַׁ֣עַר (a gate for) רְאוּבֵ֞ן (Reuben), אֶחָ֗ד (one) שַׁ֤עַר (a gate for) יְהוּדָה֙ (Judah), אֶחָ֔ד (one) שַׁ֥עַר (and a gate for) לֵוִ֖י (Levi) אֶחָֽד׃ (one).

32  וְאֶל־ (And on) פְּאַ֣ת (the side) קָדִ֗ימָה (of the east) חֲמֵ֤שׁ (five) מֵאוֹת֙ (hundred); וְאַרְבַּ֣עַת (and four) אֲלָפִ֔ים (thousand) וּשְׁעָרִ֖ים (and also gates); שְׁלֹשָׁ֑ה (three) וְשַׁ֨עַר (and a gate for) יוֹסֵ֜ף (Joseph), אֶחָ֗ד (one) שַׁ֤עַר (a gate for) בִּנְיָמִן֙ (Benjamin), אֶחָ֔ד (one) שַׁ֥עַר (and a gate for) דָּ֖ן (Dan) אֶחָֽד׃ (one).

33  וּפְאַת־ (And on the side) נֶ֗גְבָּה (of the south) חֲמֵ֨שׁ (five) מֵא֜וֹת (hundred) וְאַרְבַּ֤עַת (and four) אֲלָפִים֙ (thousand) מִדָּ֔ה (by measure), וּשְׁעָרִ֖ים (and also gates); שְׁלֹשָׁ֑ה (three) שַׁ֣עַר (a gate for) שִׁמְע֞וֹן (Simeon), אֶחָ֗ד (one) שַׁ֤עַר (a gate for) יִשָּׂשכָר֙ (Issachar), אֶחָ֔ד (one) שַׁ֥עַר (and a gate for) זְבוּלֻ֖ן (Zebulun) אֶחָֽד׃ (one).

34  פְּאַת־ (On the side) יָ֗מָּה (of the west) חֲמֵ֤שׁ (five) מֵאוֹת֙ (hundred), וְאַרְבַּ֣עַת (and four) אֲלָפִ֔ים (thousand) שַֽׁעֲרֵיהֶ֖ם (their gates); שְׁלֹשָׁ֑ה (three) שַׁ֣עַר (a gate for) גָּ֞ד (Gad), אֶחָ֗ד (one) שַׁ֤עַר (a gate for) אָשֵׁר֙ (Asher), אֶחָ֔ד (one) שַׁ֥עַר (and a gate for) נַפְתָּלִ֖י (Naphtali) אֶחָֽד׃ (one).

35  סָבִ֕יב (All around it) שְׁמֹנָ֥ה (eight) עָשָׂ֖ר (and ten) אָ֑לֶף (thousand) וְשֵׁם־ (and the name) הָעִ֥יר (of the city) מִיּ֖וֹם (from that day is)

יְהוָ֥ה׀ (YHWH) שָֽׁמָּה׃ (Shammah).
