1A Maskil of Ethan the Ezrahite. I will sing of the LORD’s loving devotion forever; with my mouth I will proclaim Your faithfulness to all generations. 1מַ֝שְׂכִּ֗יל לְאֵיתָ֥ן הָֽאֶזְרָחִֽי׃ חַֽסְדֵ֣י יְ֭הוָה עוֹלָ֣ם אָשִׁ֑ירָה לְדֹ֥ר וָדֹ֓ר ׀ אוֹדִ֖יעַ אֱמוּנָתְךָ֣ בְּפִֽי׃
2For I have said, “Loving devotion is built up forever; in the heavens You establish Your faithfulness.” 2כִּֽי־ אָמַ֗רְתִּי ע֭וֹלָם חֶ֣סֶד יִבָּנֶ֑ה שָׁמַ֓יִם ׀ תָּכִ֖ן אֱמוּנָתְךָ֣ בָהֶֽם׃
3You said, “I have made a covenant with My chosen one, I have sworn to David My servant: 3כָּרַ֣תִּֽי בְ֭רִית לִבְחִירִ֑י נִ֝שְׁבַּ֗עְתִּי לְדָוִ֥ד עַבְדִּֽי׃
4‘I will establish your offspring forever and build up your throne for all generations.’” Selah 4עַד־ ע֭וֹלָם אָכִ֣ין זַרְעֶ֑ךָ וּבָנִ֨יתִי לְדֹר־ וָד֖וֹר כִּסְאֲךָ֣ סֶֽלָה׃
5The heavens praise Your wonders, O LORD— Your faithfulness as well— in the assembly of the holy ones. 5וְי֘וֹד֤וּ שָׁמַ֣יִם פִּלְאֲךָ֣ יְהוָ֑ה אַף־ אֱ֝מֽוּנָתְךָ֗ בִּקְהַ֥ל קְדֹשִֽׁים׃
6For who in the skies can compare with the LORD? Who among the heavenly beings is like the LORD? 6כִּ֤י מִ֣י בַ֭שַּׁחַק יַעֲרֹ֣ךְ לַיהוָ֑ה יִדְמֶ֥ה לַ֝יהוָ֗ה בִּבְנֵ֥י אֵלִים׃‪‬
7In the council of the holy ones, God is greatly feared, and awesome above all who surround Him. 7אֵ֣ל נַ֭עֲרָץ בְּסוֹד־ קְדֹשִׁ֣ים רַבָּ֑ה וְ֝נוֹרָ֗א עַל־ כָּל־ סְבִיבָֽיו׃
8O LORD God of Hosts, who is like You? O mighty LORD, Your faithfulness surrounds You. 8יְהוָ֤ה ׀ אֱלֹ֘הֵ֤י צְבָא֗וֹת מִֽי־ כָֽמ֖וֹךָ חֲסִ֥ין ׀ יָ֑הּ וֶ֝אֱמֽוּנָתְךָ֗ סְבִיבוֹתֶֽיךָ׃
9You rule the raging sea; when its waves mount up, You still them. 9אַתָּ֣ה מ֭וֹשֵׁל בְּגֵא֣וּת הַיָּ֑ם בְּשׂ֥וֹא גַ֝לָּ֗יו אַתָּ֥ה תְשַׁבְּחֵֽם׃
10You crushed Rahab like a carcass; You scattered Your enemies with Your mighty arm. 10אַתָּ֤ה דִכִּ֣אתָ כֶחָלָ֣ל רָ֑הַב בִּזְר֥וֹעַ עֻ֝זְּךָ֗ פִּזַּ֥רְתָּ אוֹיְבֶֽיךָ׃
11The heavens are Yours, and also the earth. The world and its fullness You founded. 11לְךָ֣ שָׁ֭מַיִם אַף־ לְךָ֥ אָ֑רֶץ תֵּבֵ֥ל וּ֝מְלֹאָ֗הּ אַתָּ֥ה יְסַדְתָּֽם׃
12North and south You created; Tabor and Hermon shout for joy at Your name. 12צָפ֣וֹן וְ֭יָמִין אַתָּ֣ה בְרָאתָ֑ם תָּב֥וֹר וְ֝חֶרְמ֗וֹן בְּשִׁמְךָ֥ יְרַנֵּֽנוּ׃
13Mighty is Your arm, strong is Your hand; Your right hand is exalted. 13לְךָ֣ זְ֭רוֹעַ עִם־ גְּבוּרָ֑ה תָּעֹ֥ז יָ֝דְךָ֗ תָּר֥וּם יְמִינֶֽךָ׃
14Righteousness and justice are the foundation of Your throne; loving devotion and truth go before You. 14צֶ֣דֶק וּ֭מִשְׁפָּט מְכ֣וֹן כִּסְאֶ֑ךָ חֶ֥סֶד וֶ֝אֱמֶ֗ת יְֽקַדְּמ֥וּ פָנֶֽיךָ׃
15Blessed are those who know the joyful sound, who walk, O LORD, in the light of Your presence. 15אַשְׁרֵ֣י הָ֭עָם יוֹדְעֵ֣י תְרוּעָ֑ה יְ֝הוָ֗ה בְּֽאוֹר־ פָּנֶ֥יךָ יְהַלֵּכֽוּן׃
16They rejoice in Your name all day long, and in Your righteousness they exult. 16בְּ֭שִׁמְךָ יְגִיל֣וּן כָּל־ הַיּ֑וֹם וּבְצִדְקָתְךָ֥ יָרֽוּמוּ׃
17For You [are] the glory of their strength, and by Your favor our horn is exalted. 17כִּֽי־ תִפְאֶ֣רֶת עֻזָּ֣מוֹ אָ֑תָּה וּ֝בִרְצֹנְךָ֗ תרים [תָּר֥וּם] (קַרְנֵֽנוּ׃)
18Surely our shield belongs to the LORD, and our king to the Holy One of Israel. 18כִּ֣י לַֽ֭יהוָה מָֽגִנֵּ֑נוּ וְלִקְד֖וֹשׁ יִשְׂרָאֵ֣ל מַלְכֵּֽנוּ׃
19You once spoke in a vision, to Your godly ones You said, “I have bestowed help on a warrior; I have exalted one chosen from the people. 19אָ֤ז דִּבַּ֥רְתָּֽ־ בְחָ֡זוֹן לַֽחֲסִידֶ֗יךָ וַתֹּ֗אמֶר שִׁוִּ֣יתִי עֵ֭זֶר עַל־ גִּבּ֑וֹר הֲרִימ֖וֹתִי בָח֣וּר מֵעָֽם׃
20I have found David My servant; with My sacred oil I have anointed him. 20מָ֭צָאתִי דָּוִ֣ד עַבְדִּ֑י בְּשֶׁ֖מֶן קָדְשִׁ֣י מְשַׁחְתִּֽיו׃
21My hand will sustain him; surely My arm will strengthen him. 21אֲשֶׁ֣ר יָ֭דִי תִּכּ֣וֹן עִמּ֑וֹ אַף־ זְרוֹעִ֥י תְאַמְּצֶֽנּוּ׃
22No enemy will exact tribute; no wicked man will oppress him. 22לֹֽא־ יַשִּׁ֣א אוֹיֵ֣ב בּ֑וֹ וּבֶן־ עַ֝וְלָ֗ה לֹ֣א יְעַנֶּֽנּוּ׃
23I will crush his foes before him and strike down those who hate him. 23וְכַתּוֹתִ֣י מִפָּנָ֣יו צָרָ֑יו וּמְשַׂנְאָ֥יו אֶגּֽוֹף׃
24My faithfulness and loving devotion will be with him, and through My name his horn will be exalted. 24וֶֽאֶֽמוּנָתִ֣י וְחַסְדִּ֣י עִמּ֑וֹ וּ֝בִשְׁמִ֗י תָּר֥וּם קַרְנֽוֹ׃
25I will set his hand over the sea, and his right hand upon the rivers. 25וְשַׂמְתִּ֣י בַיָּ֣ם יָד֑וֹ וּֽבַנְּהָר֥וֹת יְמִינֽוֹ׃
26He will call to Me, ‘You are my Father, my God, the rock of my salvation.’ 26ה֣וּא יִ֭קְרָאֵנִי אָ֣בִי אָ֑תָּה אֵ֝לִ֗י וְצ֣וּר יְשׁוּעָתִֽי׃
27I will indeed appoint him as My firstborn, the highest of the kings of the earth. 27אַף־ אָ֭נִי בְּכ֣וֹר אֶתְּנֵ֑הוּ עֶ֝לְי֗וֹן לְמַלְכֵי־ אָֽרֶץ׃
28I will forever preserve My loving devotion for him, and My covenant with him will stand fast. 28לְ֭עוֹלָ֗ם [אשמור־] (0אֶשְׁמָר־) ל֣וֹ חַסְדִּ֑י וּ֝בְרִיתִ֗י נֶאֱמֶ֥נֶת לֽוֹ׃
29I will establish his line forever, his throne as long as the heavens endure. 29וְשַׂמְתִּ֣י לָעַ֣ד זַרְע֑וֹ וְ֝כִסְא֗וֹ כִּימֵ֥י שָׁמָֽיִם׃
30If his sons forsake My law and do not walk in My judgments, 30אִם־ יַֽעַזְב֣וּ בָ֭נָיו תּוֹרָתִ֑י וּ֝בְמִשְׁפָּטַ֗י לֹ֣א יֵלֵכֽוּן׃
31if they violate My statutes and fail to keep My commandments, 31אִם־ חֻקֹּתַ֥י יְחַלֵּ֑לוּ וּ֝מִצְוֺתַ֗י לֹ֣א יִשְׁמֹֽרוּ׃
32I will attend to their transgression with the rod, and to their iniquity with stripes. 32וּפָקַדְתִּ֣י בְשֵׁ֣בֶט פִּשְׁעָ֑ם וּבִנְגָעִ֥ים עֲוֺנָֽם׃
33But I will not withdraw My loving devotion from him, nor ever betray My faithfulness. 33וְ֭חַסְדִּי לֹֽא־ אָפִ֣יר מֵֽעִמּ֑וֹ וְלֹֽא־ אֲ֝שַׁקֵּ֗ר בֶּאֱמוּנָתִֽי׃
34I will not violate My covenant or alter the utterance of My lips. 34לֹא־ אֲחַלֵּ֥ל בְּרִיתִ֑י וּמוֹצָ֥א שְׂ֝פָתַ֗י לֹ֣א אֲשַׁנֶּֽה׃
35Once and for all I have sworn by My holiness— I will not lie to David— 35אַ֭חַת נִשְׁבַּ֣עְתִּי בְקָדְשִׁ֑י אִֽם־ לְדָוִ֥ד אֲכַזֵּֽב׃
36his offspring will endure forever, and his throne will be like the sun before Me, 36זַ֭רְעוֹ לְעוֹלָ֣ם יִהְיֶ֑ה וְכִסְא֖וֹ כַשֶּׁ֣מֶשׁ נֶגְדִּֽי׃
37like the moon, established forever, a faithful witness in the sky.” Selah 37כְּ֭יָרֵחַ יִכּ֣וֹן עוֹלָ֑ם וְעֵ֥ד בַּ֝שַּׁ֗חַק נֶאֱמָ֥ן סֶֽלָה׃
38But You have spurned and rejected him; You are enraged by Your anointed one. 38וְאַתָּ֣ה זָ֭נַחְתָּ וַתִּמְאָ֑ס הִ֝תְעַבַּ֗רְתָּ עִם־ מְשִׁיחֶֽךָ׃
39You have renounced the covenant with Your servant and sullied his crown in the dust. 39נֵ֭אַרְתָּה בְּרִ֣ית עַבְדֶּ֑ךָ חִלַּ֖לְתָּ לָאָ֣רֶץ נִזְרֽוֹ׃
40You have broken down all his walls; You have reduced his strongholds to rubble. 40פָּרַ֥צְתָּ כָל־ גְּדֵרֹתָ֑יו שַׂ֖מְתָּ מִבְצָרָ֣יו מְחִתָּה׃‪‬
41All who pass by plunder him; he has become a reproach to his neighbors. 41שַׁ֭סֻּהוּ כָּל־ עֹ֣בְרֵי דָ֑רֶךְ הָיָ֥ה חֶ֝רְפָּ֗ה לִשְׁכֵנָֽיו׃
42You have exalted the right hand of his foes; You have made all his enemies rejoice. 42הֲ֭רִימוֹתָ יְמִ֣ין צָרָ֑יו הִ֝שְׂמַ֗חְתָּ כָּל־ אוֹיְבָֽיו׃
43You have bent the edge of his sword and have not sustained him in battle. 43אַף־ תָּ֭שִׁיב צ֣וּר חַרְבּ֑וֹ וְלֹ֥א הֲ֝קֵימֹת֗וֹ בַּמִּלְחָמָֽה׃
44You have ended his splendor and cast his throne to the ground. 44הִשְׁבַּ֥תָּ מִטְּהָר֑וֹ וְ֝כִסְא֗וֹ לָאָ֥רֶץ מִגַּֽרְתָּה׃
45You have shortened the days of his youth; You have covered him with shame. Selah 45הִ֭קְצַרְתָּ יְמֵ֣י עֲלוּמָ֑יו הֶֽעֱטִ֨יתָ עָלָ֖יו בּוּשָׁ֣ה סֶֽלָה׃
46How long, O LORD? Will You hide Yourself forever? Will Your wrath keep burning like fire? 46עַד־ מָ֣ה יְ֭הוָה תִּסָּתֵ֣ר לָנֶ֑צַח תִּבְעַ֖ר כְּמוֹ־ אֵ֣שׁ חֲמָתֶֽךָ׃
47Remember how short is my lifespan. For what futility You have created all men! 47זְכָר־ אֲנִ֥י מֶה־ חָ֑לֶד עַל־ מַה־ שָּׁ֝֗וְא בָּרָ֥אתָ כָל־ בְּנֵי־ אָדָֽם׃
48What man can live and never see death? Can he deliver his soul from the power of Sheol? Selah 48מִ֤י גֶ֣בֶר יִֽ֭חְיֶה וְלֹ֣א יִרְאֶה־ מָּ֑וֶת יְמַלֵּ֨ט נַפְשׁ֖וֹ מִיַּד־ שְׁא֣וֹל סֶֽלָה׃
49Where, O Lord, [is] Your loving devotion of old, which You swore steadfastly to David? 49אַיֵּ֤ה ׀ חֲסָדֶ֖יךָ הָרִאשֹׁנִ֥ים ׀ אֲדֹנָ֑י נִשְׁבַּ֥עְתָּ לְ֝דָוִ֗ד בֶּאֱמוּנָתֶֽךָ׃
50Remember, O Lord, the reproach of Your servants, which I bear in my heart from so many people, 50זְכֹ֣ר אֲ֭דֹנָי חֶרְפַּ֣ת עֲבָדֶ֑יךָ שְׂאֵתִ֥י בְ֝חֵיקִ֗י כָּל־ רַבִּ֥ים עַמִּֽים׃
51how Your enemies have taunted, O LORD, how they have mocked every step of Your anointed one. 51אֲשֶׁ֤ר חֵרְפ֖וּ אוֹיְבֶ֥יךָ ׀ יְהוָ֑ה אֲשֶׁ֥ר חֵ֝רְפ֗וּ עִקְּב֥וֹת מְשִׁיחֶֽךָ׃
52Blessed be the LORD forever! Amen and amen. 52בָּר֖וּךְ יְהוָ֥ה לְ֝עוֹלָ֗ם אָ֘מֵ֥ן ׀ וְאָמֵֽן׃
