1Ch 28:2 It was in my heart to build a house as a resting place…

The LORD is wholly pure, righteous, and set apart from all creation. His holiness governs His judgments, mercy, and covenant dealings with His people, making Him worthy of worship.

Psa 111:9 He has sent redemption to His people; He has ordained…
Isa 6:3 “Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of Hosts;…”…

Moses and Aaron were among His priests;

Aaron served as Israel’s first high priest, appointed by God to oversee sacrifices and represent the people before Him. Moses was not part of the hereditary priesthood, yet he carried out priestly duties in Israel’s earliest days, interceding for the nation and standing before God on its behalf. Both men led Israel under God’s authority during the Exodus and wilderness years.

Exo 24:4-8 And Moses wrote down all the words of the LORD.…
Exo 28:1 “Next, have your brother Aaron brought to you…
Num 16:46-48 Take your censer, place fire from the altar in it…

Samuel was among those who called on His name.

Samuel served as prophet, judge, and spiritual leader during Israel’s transition from the period of the judges to the monarchy. He regularly sought the Lord in prayer and guided the nation according to God’s direction, including the anointing of Saul and David.

1Sa 7:9 Then Samuel took a suckling lamb and offered it…

1Ki 18:36-39 At the time of the evening sacrifice, Elijah…

He spoke to them from the pillar of cloud;

God made His presence known to Israel throughout the wilderness journey, leading them by cloud during the day and by fire at night. From the cloud He gave direction and revealed His will while shielding the people from the full display of His glory. His presence among them showed that He had not abandoned them after delivering them from Egypt.

Exo 33:9 As Moses entered the tent, the pillar of cloud…
Num 12:5 and the LORD came down in a pillar of cloud…
Exo 13:21-22 And the LORD went before them in a pillar of cloud…

they kept His decrees

Moses, Aaron, and Samuel are remembered as servants who obeyed God’s commands and called the nation to covenant faithfulness. Israel’s laws governed worship, justice, and daily life, requiring the people to live as the nation God had chosen.

Deu 10:13 and to keep the commandments and statutes of the LORD…
Deu 6:17 You are to diligently keep the commandments of the LORD…
Deu 11:1 You shall therefore love the LORD your God…

and the statutes He gave them.

God’s statutes set Israel apart from the surrounding nations and established the order by which they were to serve Him. Their obedience did not earn His deliverance, but it was the required response of a people redeemed and brought into covenant with Him.

Neh 9:13-14 You came down on Mount Sinai and spoke with them…
Exo 24:12 Then the LORD said to Moses, “Come up to Me on the mountain…
Deu 4:14 At that time the LORD commanded me to teach you…

O LORD our God, You answered them.

God heard Moses, Aaron, and Samuel as they stood before Him on behalf of Israel. Throughout Israel’s history, He gave direction, delivered His people, and responded to their intercession during times of rebellion, danger, and national need.

1Sa 7:9-10 Then Samuel took a suckling lamb and offered it…
Exo 17:4-6 Then Moses cried out to the LORD, “What should I do…”…
Psa 34:4 I sought the LORD, and He answered me; He delivered me…

You were a forgiving God to them,

Though Israel repeatedly sinned, God granted mercy when they turned to Him. He forgave their idolatry, unbelief, and rebellion, providing atonement through the sacrifices He appointed and preserving His covenant people despite their failures.

Exo 34:6-7 Then the LORD passed in front of Moses and called out:…
Neh 9:17 They refused to listen and failed to remember…
Psa 78:38 And yet He was compassionate; He forgave their iniquity…

yet an avenger of their misdeeds.

God’s forgiveness did not remove all earthly consequences of sin. Moses, Aaron, and the nation experienced His discipline for disobedience, revealing that the holy God who pardons also judges wrongdoing. His justice against sin ultimately points to Christ, who bore its penalty for all who believe.

Num 14:20-23 “I have pardoned them as you requested,” the LORD replied.…
2Sa 12:13-14 Then David said to Nathan, “I have sinned…”…
Deu 32:35-36 Vengeance is Mine; I will repay. In due time…

Exalt the LORD our God

God’s people are called to publicly honor Him as the supreme King and covenant Lord. Israel’s worship acknowledged that the Lord alone ruled over them and deserved their undivided devotion.

Psa 118:28 You are my God, and I will give You thanks.…
Psa 34:3 Magnify the LORD with me; let us exalt His name together.
Isa 12:4 “Give praise to the LORD; proclaim His name!…

and worship at His holy mountain,

God chose Mount Zion in Jerusalem as the place where His name would dwell and where the temple stood. There Israel gathered for sacrifices, feasts, prayer, and instruction, approaching God according to the worship He commanded.

Isa 56:7 I will bring them to My holy mountain and make them joyful…
Isa 2:2-3 In the last days the mountain of the house of the LORD…
Psa 2:6 “I have installed My King on Zion, upon My holy mountain.”

for the LORD our God is holy.

God is wholly pure, righteous, and set apart from all creation. His holiness explains why He must be worshiped with reverence and why His people are called to live as those who belong to Him.

1Sa 2:2 There is no one holy like the LORD. Indeed, there is no one…
Lev 19:2 Speak to the whole congregation of Israel and tell them:…
Isa 6:3 “Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of Hosts;…”…
