For the end, concerning the morning aid, a Psalm of David. O God, my God, attend to me: why hast thou forsaken me? the account of my transgressions is far from my salvation. My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? Why are you so far from saving me, from the words of my groaning? For the director of music. To the tune of “The Doe of the Morning.” A psalm of David. My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? Why are you so far from saving me, so far from my cries of anguish?
O my God, I will cry to thee by day, but thou wilt not hear: and by night, and it shall not be accounted for folly to me. O my God, I cry by day, but you do not answer, and by night, but I find no rest. My God, I cry out by day, but you do not answer, by night, but I find no rest.
But thou, the praise of Israel, dwellest in a sanctuary. Yet you are holy, enthroned on the praises of Israel. Yet you are enthroned as the Holy One; you are the one Israel praises.
Our fathers hoped in thee; they hoped, and thou didst deliver them. In you our fathers trusted; they trusted, and you delivered them. In you our ancestors put their trust; they trusted and you delivered them.
They cried to thee, and were saved: they hoped in thee, and were not ashamed. To you they cried and were rescued; in you they trusted and were not put to shame. To you they cried out and were saved; in you they trusted and were not put to shame.
But I am a worm, and not a man; a reproach of men, and scorn of the people. But I am a worm and not a man, scorned by mankind and despised by the people. But I am a worm and not a man, scorned by everyone, despised by the people.
All that saw me mocked me: they spoke with their lips, they shook the head, saying , All who see me mock me; they make mouths at me; they wag their heads; All who see me mock me; they hurl insults, shaking their heads.
He hoped in the Lord: let him deliver him, let him save him, because he takes pleasure in him. “He trusts in the LORD; let him deliver him; let him rescue him, for he delights in him!” “He trusts in the LORD,” they say, “let the LORD rescue him. Let him deliver him, since he delights in him.”
For thou art he that drew me out of the womb; my hope from my mother's breasts. Yet you are he who took me from the womb; you made me trust you at my mother’s breasts. Yet you brought me out of the womb; you made me trust in you, even at my mother’s breast.
I was cast on thee from the womb: thou art my God from my mother's belly. On you was I cast from my birth, and from my mother’s womb you have been my God. From birth I was cast on you; from my mother’s womb you have been my God.
Stand not aloof from me; for affliction is near; for there is no helper. Be not far from me, for trouble is near, and there is none to help. Do not be far from me, for trouble is near and there is no one to help.
Many bullocks have compassed me: fat bulls have beset me round. Many bulls encompass me; strong bulls of Bashan surround me; Many bulls surround me; strong bulls of Bashan encircle me.
They have opened their mouth against me, as a ravening and roaring lion. they open wide their mouths at me, like a ravening and roaring lion. Roaring lions that tear their prey open their mouths wide against me.
I am poured out like water, and all my bones are loosened: my heart in the midst of my belly is become like melting wax. I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint; my heart is like wax; it is melted within my breast; I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint. My heart has turned to wax; it has melted within me.
My strength is dried up, like a potsherd; and my tongue is glued to my throat; and thou hast brought me down to the dust of death. my strength is dried up like a potsherd, and my tongue sticks to my jaws; you lay me in the dust of death. My mouth is dried up like a potsherd, and my tongue sticks to the roof of my mouth; you lay me in the dust of death.
For many dogs have compassed me: the assembly of the wicked doers has beset me round: they pierced my hands and my feet. For dogs encompass me; a company of evildoers encircles me; they have pierced my hands and feet— Dogs surround me, a pack of villains encircles me; they pierce my hands and my feet.
They counted all my bones; and they observed and looked upon me. I can count all my bones— they stare and gloat over me; All my bones are on display; people stare and gloat over me.
They parted my garments among themselves, and cast lots upon my raiment. they divide my garments among them, and for my clothing they cast lots. They divide my clothes among them and cast lots for my garment.
But thou, O Lord, remove not my help afar off: be ready for mine aid. But you, O LORD, do not be far off! O you my help, come quickly to my aid! But you, LORD, do not be far from me. You are my strength; come quickly to help me.
Deliver my soul from the sword; my only-begotten one from the power of the dog. Deliver my soul from the sword, my precious life from the power of the dog! Deliver me from the sword, my precious life from the power of the dogs.
Save me from the lion's mouth; and regard my lowliness from the horns of the unicorns. Save me from the mouth of the lion! You have rescued me from the horns of the wild oxen! Rescue me from the mouth of the lions; save me from the horns of the wild oxen.
I will declare thy name to my brethren: in the midst of the church will I sing praise to thee. I will tell of your name to my brothers; in the midst of the congregation I will praise you: I will declare your name to my people; in the assembly I will praise you.
Ye that fear the Lord, praise him; all ye seed of Jacob, glorify him: let all the seed of Israel fear him. You who fear the LORD, praise him! All you offspring of Jacob, glorify him, and stand in awe of him, all you offspring of Israel! You who fear the LORD, praise him! All you descendants of Jacob, honor him! Revere him, all you descendants of Israel!
For he has not despised nor been angry at the supplication of the poor; nor turned away his face from me; but when I cried to him, he heard me. For he has not despised or abhorred the affliction of the afflicted, and he has not hidden his face from him, but has heard, when he cried to him. For he has not despised or scorned the suffering of the afflicted one; he has not hidden his face from him but has listened to his cry for help.
My praise is of thee in the great congregation: I will pay my vows before them that fear him. From you comes my praise in the great congregation; my vows I will perform before those who fear him. From you comes the theme of my praise in the great assembly; before those who fear you I will fulfill my vows.
The poor shall eat and be satisfied; and they shall praise the Lord that seek him: their heart shall live for ever. The afflicted shall eat and be satisfied; those who seek him shall praise the LORD! May your hearts live forever! The poor will eat and be satisfied; those who seek the LORD will praise him— may your hearts live forever!
All the ends of the earth shall remember and turn to the Lord: and all the kindreds of the nations shall worship before him. All the ends of the earth shall remember and turn to the LORD, and all the families of the nations shall worship before you. All the ends of the earth will remember and turn to the LORD, and all the families of the nations will bow down before him,
For the kingdom is the Lord's; and he is the governor of the nations. For kingship belongs to the LORD, and he rules over the nations. for dominion belongs to the LORD and he rules over the nations.
All the fat ones of the earth have eaten and worshipped: all that go down to the earth shall fall down before him: my soul also lives to him. All the prosperous of the earth eat and worship; before him shall bow all who go down to the dust, even the one who could not keep himself alive. All the rich of the earth will feast and worship; all who go down to the dust will kneel before him— those who cannot keep themselves alive.
And my seed shall serve him: the generation that is coming shall be reported to the Lord. Posterity shall serve him; it shall be told of the Lord to the coming generation; Posterity will serve him; future generations will be told about the Lord.
And they shall report his righteousness to the people that shall be born, whom the Lord has made. they shall come and proclaim his righteousness to a people yet unborn, that he has done it. They will proclaim his righteousness, declaring to a people yet unborn: He has done it!
