[For the choir director; according to [ayyeleth hashachar]; a psalm by David.] My God, my God, why have you abandoned me? Why are you so far away from helping me, so far away from the words of my groaning? My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? Why are you so far from saving me, from the words of my groaning? For the director of music. To the tune of “The Doe of the Morning.” A psalm of David. My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? Why are you so far from saving me, so far from my cries of anguish?
My God, I cry out by day, but you do not answer- also at night, but I find no rest. O my God, I cry by day, but you do not answer, and by night, but I find no rest. My God, I cry out by day, but you do not answer, by night, but I find no rest.
Yet, you are holy, enthroned on the praises of Israel. Yet you are holy, enthroned on the praises of Israel. Yet you are enthroned as the Holy One; you are the one Israel praises.
Our ancestors trusted you. They trusted, and you rescued them. In you our fathers trusted; they trusted, and you delivered them. In you our ancestors put their trust; they trusted and you delivered them.
They cried to you and were saved. They trusted you and were never disappointed. To you they cried and were rescued; in you they trusted and were not put to shame. To you they cried out and were saved; in you they trusted and were not put to shame.
Yet, I am a worm and not a man. I am scorned by humanity and despised by people. But I am a worm and not a man, scorned by mankind and despised by the people. But I am a worm and not a man, scorned by everyone, despised by the people.
All who see me make fun of me. Insults pour from their mouths. They shake their heads and say, All who see me mock me; they make mouths at me; they wag their heads; All who see me mock me; they hurl insults, shaking their heads.
|Put yourself in the LORD's hands. Let the LORD save him! Let God rescue him since he is pleased with him!| “He trusts in the LORD; let him deliver him; let him rescue him, for he delights in him!” “He trusts in the LORD,” they say, “let the LORD rescue him. Let him deliver him, since he delights in him.”
Indeed, you are the one who brought me out of the womb, the one who made me feel safe at my mother's breasts. Yet you are he who took me from the womb; you made me trust you at my mother’s breasts. Yet you brought me out of the womb; you made me trust in you, even at my mother’s breast.
I was placed in your care from birth. From my mother's womb you have been my God. On you was I cast from my birth, and from my mother’s womb you have been my God. From birth I was cast on you; from my mother’s womb you have been my God.
Do not be so far away from me. Trouble is near, and there is no one to help. Be not far from me, for trouble is near, and there is none to help. Do not be far from me, for trouble is near and there is no one to help.
Many bulls have surrounded me. Strong bulls from Bashan have encircled me. Many bulls encompass me; strong bulls of Bashan surround me; Many bulls surround me; strong bulls of Bashan encircle me.
They have opened their mouths to attack me like ferocious, roaring lions. they open wide their mouths at me, like a ravening and roaring lion. Roaring lions that tear their prey open their mouths wide against me.
I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint. My heart is like wax. It has melted within me. I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint; my heart is like wax; it is melted within my breast; I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint. My heart has turned to wax; it has melted within me.
My strength is dried up like pieces of broken pottery. My tongue sticks to the roof of my mouth. You lay me down in the dust of death. my strength is dried up like a potsherd, and my tongue sticks to my jaws; you lay me in the dust of death. My mouth is dried up like a potsherd, and my tongue sticks to the roof of my mouth; you lay me in the dust of death.
Dogs have surrounded me. A mob has encircled me. They have pierced my hands and feet. For dogs encompass me; a company of evildoers encircles me; they have pierced my hands and feet— Dogs surround me, a pack of villains encircles me; they pierce my hands and my feet.
I can count all my bones. People stare. They gloat over me. I can count all my bones— they stare and gloat over me; All my bones are on display; people stare and gloat over me.
They divide my clothes among themselves. They throw dice for my clothing. they divide my garments among them, and for my clothing they cast lots. They divide my clothes among them and cast lots for my garment.
Do not be so far away, O LORD. Come quickly to help me, O my strength. But you, O LORD, do not be far off! O you my help, come quickly to my aid! But you, LORD, do not be far from me. You are my strength; come quickly to help me.
Rescue my soul from the sword, my life from vicious dogs. Deliver my soul from the sword, my precious life from the power of the dog! Deliver me from the sword, my precious life from the power of the dogs.
Save me from the mouth of the lion and from the horns of wild oxen. You have answered me. Save me from the mouth of the lion! You have rescued me from the horns of the wild oxen! Rescue me from the mouth of the lions; save me from the horns of the wild oxen.
I will tell my people about your name. I will praise you within the congregation. I will tell of your name to my brothers; in the midst of the congregation I will praise you: I will declare your name to my people; in the assembly I will praise you.
All who fear the LORD, praise him! All you descendants of Jacob, glorify him! Stand in awe of him, all you descendants of Israel. You who fear the LORD, praise him! All you offspring of Jacob, glorify him, and stand in awe of him, all you offspring of Israel! You who fear the LORD, praise him! All you descendants of Jacob, honor him! Revere him, all you descendants of Israel!
The LORD has not despised or been disgusted with the plight of the oppressed one. He has not hidden his face from that person. The LORD heard when that oppressed person cried out to him for help. For he has not despised or abhorred the affliction of the afflicted, and he has not hidden his face from him, but has heard, when he cried to him. For he has not despised or scorned the suffering of the afflicted one; he has not hidden his face from him but has listened to his cry for help.
My praise comes from you while I am among those assembled for worship. I will fulfill my vows in the presence of those who fear the LORD. From you comes my praise in the great congregation; my vows I will perform before those who fear him. From you comes the theme of my praise in the great assembly; before those who fear you I will fulfill my vows.
Oppressed people will eat until they are full. Those who look to the LORD will praise him. May you live forever. The afflicted shall eat and be satisfied; those who seek him shall praise the LORD! May your hearts live forever! The poor will eat and be satisfied; those who seek the LORD will praise him— may your hearts live forever!
All the ends of the earth will remember and return to the LORD. All the families from all the nations will worship you All the ends of the earth shall remember and turn to the LORD, and all the families of the nations shall worship before you. All the ends of the earth will remember and turn to the LORD, and all the families of the nations will bow down before him,
because the kingdom belongs to the LORD and he rules the nations. For kingship belongs to the LORD, and he rules over the nations. for dominion belongs to the LORD and he rules over the nations.
All prosperous people on earth will eat and worship. All those who go down to the dust will kneel in front of him, even those who are barely alive. All the prosperous of the earth eat and worship; before him shall bow all who go down to the dust, even the one who could not keep himself alive. All the rich of the earth will feast and worship; all who go down to the dust will kneel before him— those who cannot keep themselves alive.
There will be descendants who serve him, a generation that will be told about the Lord. Posterity shall serve him; it shall be told of the Lord to the coming generation; Posterity will serve him; future generations will be told about the Lord.
They will tell people yet to be born about his righteousness- that he has finished it. they shall come and proclaim his righteousness to a people yet unborn, that he has done it. They will proclaim his righteousness, declaring to a people yet unborn: He has done it!
