[For the choir director; a psalm by David.] The king finds joy in your strength, O LORD. What great joy he has in your victory! O LORD, in your strength the king rejoices, and in your salvation how greatly he exults! For the director of music. A psalm of David. The king rejoices in your strength, LORD. How great is his joy in the victories you give!
You gave him his heart's desire. You did not refuse the prayer from his lips. [Selah] You have given him his heart’s desire and have not withheld the request of his lips. Selah You have granted him his heart’s desire and have not withheld the request of his lips.
You welcomed him with the blessings of good things and set a crown of fine gold on his head. For you meet him with rich blessings; you set a crown of fine gold upon his head. You came to greet him with rich blessings and placed a crown of pure gold on his head.
He asked you for life. You gave him a long life, forever and ever. He asked life of you; you gave it to him, length of days forever and ever. He asked you for life, and you gave it to him— length of days, for ever and ever.
Because of your victory his glory is great. You place splendor and majesty on him. His glory is great through your salvation; splendor and majesty you bestow on him. Through the victories you gave, his glory is great; you have bestowed on him splendor and majesty.
Yes, you made him a blessing forever. You made him glad with the joy of your presence. For you make him most blessed forever; you make him glad with the joy of your presence. Surely you have granted him unending blessings and made him glad with the joy of your presence.
Indeed, the king trusts the LORD, and through the mercy of the Most High, he will not be moved. For the king trusts in the LORD, and through the steadfast love of the Most High he shall not be moved. For the king trusts in the LORD; through the unfailing love of the Most High he will not be shaken.
Your hand will discover all your enemies. Your powerful hand will find all who hate you. Your hand will find out all your enemies; your right hand will find out those who hate you. Your hand will lay hold on all your enemies; your right hand will seize your foes.
When you appear, you will make them [burn]like a blazing furnace. The LORD will swallow them up in his anger. Fire will devour them. You will make them as a blazing oven when you appear. The LORD will swallow them up in his wrath, and fire will consume them. When you appear for battle, you will burn them up as in a blazing furnace. The LORD will swallow them up in his wrath, and his fire will consume them.
You will destroy their children from the earth and their offspring from among Adam's descendants. You will destroy their descendants from the earth, and their offspring from among the children of man. You will destroy their descendants from the earth, their posterity from mankind.
Although they scheme and plan evil against you, they will not succeed. Though they plan evil against you, though they devise mischief, they will not succeed. Though they plot evil against you and devise wicked schemes, they cannot succeed.
They turn their backs [and flee] because you aim your bow at their faces. For you will put them to flight; you will aim at their faces with your bows. You will make them turn their backs when you aim at them with drawn bow.
Arise, O LORD, in your strength. We will sing and make music to praise your power. Be exalted, O LORD, in your strength! We will sing and praise your power. Be exalted in your strength, LORD; we will sing and praise your might.
