And Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying, The LORD spoke to Moses, saying, The LORD said to Moses,
Avenge the children of Israel upon the Midianites; afterwards shalt thou be gathered unto thy peoples. “Avenge the people of Israel on the Midianites. Afterward you shall be gathered to your people.” “Take vengeance on the Midianites for the Israelites. After that, you will be gathered to your people.”
And Moses spoke to the people, saying, Arm from amongst you men for military service, that they go against Midian to execute Jehovah's vengeance upon Midian. So Moses spoke to the people, saying, “Arm men from among you for the war, that they may go against Midian to execute the LORD’s vengeance on Midian. So Moses said to the people, “Arm some of your men to go to war against the Midianites so that they may carry out the LORD’s vengeance on them.
Of every tribe a thousand, of all the tribes of Israel, shall ye send to the war. You shall send a thousand from each of the tribes of Israel to the war.” Send into battle a thousand men from each of the tribes of Israel.”
And there were levied out of the thousands of Israel, a thousand by tribe, twelve thousand armed for war. So there were provided, out of the thousands of Israel, a thousand from each tribe, twelve thousand armed for war. So twelve thousand men armed for battle, a thousand from each tribe, were supplied from the clans of Israel.
And Moses sent them to the war, a thousand by the tribe, them and Phinehas the son of Eleazar the priest, to the war, and the holy instruments, even the alarm-trumpets in his hand. And Moses sent them to the war, a thousand from each tribe, together with Phinehas the son of Eleazar the priest, with the vessels of the sanctuary and the trumpets for the alarm in his hand. Moses sent them into battle, a thousand from each tribe, along with Phinehas son of Eleazar, the priest, who took with him articles from the sanctuary and the trumpets for signaling.
And they warred against Midian, as Jehovah had commanded Moses, and slew all the males. They warred against Midian, as the LORD commanded Moses, and killed every male. They fought against Midian, as the LORD commanded Moses, and killed every man.
And they slew the kings of Midian, besides the others slain, Evi, and Rekem, and Zur, and Hur, and Reba, five kings of Midian; and Balaam the son of Beor they slew with the sword. They killed the kings of Midian with the rest of their slain, Evi, Rekem, Zur, Hur, and Reba, the five kings of Midian. And they also killed Balaam the son of Beor with the sword. Among their victims were Evi, Rekem, Zur, Hur and Reba—the five kings of Midian. They also killed Balaam son of Beor with the sword.
And the children of Israel took the women of Midian captives, and their little ones, and took for a spoil all their cattle and all their flocks and all their goods; And the people of Israel took captive the women of Midian and their little ones, and they took as plunder all their cattle, their flocks, and all their goods. The Israelites captured the Midianite women and children and took all the Midianite herds, flocks and goods as plunder.
and all their cities in their settlements and all their encampments they burned with fire. All their cities in the places where they lived, and all their encampments, they burned with fire, They burned all the towns where the Midianites had settled, as well as all their camps.
And they took all the booty, and all the prey, of man and of cattle; and took all the spoil and all the plunder, both of man and of beast. They took all the plunder and spoils, including the people and animals,
and they brought to Moses and Eleazar the priest, and to the assembly of the children of Israel, the captives and the prey and the booty, to the camp in the plains of Moab, which are by the Jordan of Jericho. Then they brought the captives and the plunder and the spoil to Moses, and to Eleazar the priest, and to the congregation of the people of Israel, at the camp on the plains of Moab by the Jordan at Jericho. and brought the captives, spoils and plunder to Moses and Eleazar the priest and the Israelite assembly at their camp on the plains of Moab, by the Jordan across from Jericho.
And Moses and Eleazar the priest and all the princes of the assembly went forth to meet them outside the camp. Moses and Eleazar the priest and all the chiefs of the congregation went to meet them outside the camp. Moses, Eleazar the priest and all the leaders of the community went to meet them outside the camp.
And Moses was wroth with the officers of the army, with the captains of thousands, and captains of hundreds, who came from the service of the war; And Moses was angry with the officers of the army, the commanders of thousands and the commanders of hundreds, who had come from service in the war. Moses was angry with the officers of the army—the commanders of thousands and commanders of hundreds—who returned from the battle.
and Moses said to them, Have ye saved all the women alive? Moses said to them, “Have you let all the women live? “Have you allowed all the women to live?” he asked them.
Lo, these, through the counsel of Balaam, caused the children of Israel to commit sin against Jehovah in the matter of Peor, and there was a plague on the assembly of Jehovah. Behold, these, on Balaam’s advice, caused the people of Israel to act treacherously against the LORD in the incident of Peor, and so the plague came among the congregation of the LORD. “They were the ones who followed Balaam’s advice and enticed the Israelites to be unfaithful to the LORD in the Peor incident, so that a plague struck the LORD’s people.
And now slay every male among the little ones, and slay every woman that hath known man by lying with him, Now therefore, kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman who has known man by lying with him. Now kill all the boys. And kill every woman who has slept with a man,
but all the children among the women that have not known lying with a man, keep alive for yourselves. But all the young girls who have not known man by lying with him keep alive for yourselves. but save for yourselves every girl who has never slept with a man.
And encamp outside the camp seven days; whoever hath killed a person, and whoever hath touched any slain; ye shall purify yourselves on the third day, and on the seventh day, you and your captives. Encamp outside the camp seven days. Whoever of you has killed any person and whoever has touched any slain, purify yourselves and your captives on the third day and on the seventh day. “Anyone who has killed someone or touched someone who was killed must stay outside the camp seven days. On the third and seventh days you must purify yourselves and your captives.
And every garment, and every vessel of skin, and all work of goat's hair, and every utensil of wood shall ye purify. You shall purify every garment, every article of skin, all work of goats’ hair, and every article of wood.” Purify every garment as well as everything made of leather, goat hair or wood.”
And Eleazar the priest said to the men of war that had gone to the battle, This is the statute of the law which Jehovah hath commanded Moses. Then Eleazar the priest said to the men in the army who had gone to battle: “This is the statute of the law that the LORD has commanded Moses: Then Eleazar the priest said to the soldiers who had gone into battle, “This is what is required by the law that the LORD gave Moses:
Only the gold, and the silver, the copper, the iron, the tin, and the lead, only the gold, the silver, the bronze, the iron, the tin, and the lead, Gold, silver, bronze, iron, tin, lead
everything that passeth through the fire, ye shall make it go through the fire, and it shall be clean; only it shall be purified with the water of separation; and everything that cannot pass through the fire ye shall make go through the water. everything that can stand the fire, you shall pass through the fire, and it shall be clean. Nevertheless, it shall also be purified with the water for impurity. And whatever cannot stand the fire, you shall pass through the water. and anything else that can withstand fire must be put through the fire, and then it will be clean. But it must also be purified with the water of cleansing. And whatever cannot withstand fire must be put through that water.
And ye shall wash your garments on the seventh day, and ye shall be clean; and afterwards ye may come into the camp. You must wash your clothes on the seventh day, and you shall be clean. And afterward you may come into the camp.” On the seventh day wash your clothes and you will be clean. Then you may come into the camp.”
And Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying, The LORD said to Moses, The LORD said to Moses,
Take the sum of the prey that was taken, of man and of cattle, thou, and Eleazar the priest, and the chief fathers of the assembly; “Take the count of the plunder that was taken, both of man and of beast, you and Eleazar the priest and the heads of the fathers’ houses of the congregation, “You and Eleazar the priest and the family heads of the community are to count all the people and animals that were captured.
and divide the prey into halves, between them that conducted the war, who went out to the battle, and the whole assembly. and divide the plunder into two parts between the warriors who went out to battle and all the congregation. Divide the spoils equally between the soldiers who took part in the battle and the rest of the community.
And thou shalt levy a tribute for Jehovah of the men of war who went out to the army, one soul of five hundred of the persons, and of the oxen, and of the asses, and of the small cattle. And levy for the LORD a tribute from the men of war who went out to battle, one out of five hundred, of the people and of the oxen and of the donkeys and of the flocks. From the soldiers who fought in the battle, set apart as tribute for the LORD one out of every five hundred, whether people, cattle, donkeys or sheep.
Of their half shall ye take it, and give it unto Eleazar the priest, for a heave-offering of Jehovah. Take it from their half and give it to Eleazar the priest as a contribution to the LORD. Take this tribute from their half share and give it to Eleazar the priest as the LORD’s part.
And of the children of Israel's half, thou shalt take one portion of fifty, of the persons, of the oxen, of the asses, and of the small cattle, of every [kind of] beasts, and thou shalt give them unto the Levites, who keep the charge of the tabernacle of Jehovah. And from the people of Israel’s half you shall take one drawn out of every fifty, of the people, of the oxen, of the donkeys, and of the flocks, of all the cattle, and give them to the Levites who keep guard over the tabernacle of the LORD.” From the Israelites’ half, select one out of every fifty, whether people, cattle, donkeys, sheep or other animals. Give them to the Levites, who are responsible for the care of the LORD’s tabernacle.”
And Moses and Eleazar the priest did as Jehovah had commanded Moses. And Moses and Eleazar the priest did as the LORD commanded Moses. So Moses and Eleazar the priest did as the LORD commanded Moses.
And the prey, the rest of the spoil, which the men of war had taken, was six hundred and seventy-five thousand sheep, Now the plunder remaining of the spoil that the army took was 675,000 sheep, The plunder remaining from the spoils that the soldiers took was 675,000 sheep,

And Moses gave the tribute of Jehovah's heave-offering to Eleazar the priest, as Jehovah had commanded Moses. And Moses gave the tribute, which was the contribution for the LORD, to Eleazar the priest, as the LORD commanded Moses. Moses gave the tribute to Eleazar the priest as the LORD’s part, as the LORD commanded Moses.
And of the children of Israel's half, which Moses had divided, [taking it] from the men that served in the war, From the people of Israel’s half, which Moses separated from that of the men who had served in the army— The half belonging to the Israelites, which Moses set apart from that of the fighting men—

So we present the offering of Jehovah, that which each one hath found, jewels of gold, chains, and bracelets, rings, earrings, and necklaces, to make atonement for our souls before Jehovah. And we have brought the LORD’s offering, what each man found, articles of gold, armlets and bracelets, signet rings, earrings, and beads, to make atonement for ourselves before the LORD.” So we have brought as an offering to the LORD the gold articles each of us acquired—armlets, bracelets, signet rings, earrings and necklaces—to make atonement for ourselves before the LORD.”
And Moses and Eleazar the priest took the gold of them, all manner of wrought jewels. And Moses and Eleazar the priest received from them the gold, all crafted articles. Moses and Eleazar the priest accepted from them the gold—all the crafted articles.
And all the gold of the heave-offering that they offered to Jehovah was sixteen thousand seven hundred and fifty shekels, from the captains of thousands and the captains of hundreds.
