1 And Jesus responding, again spoke to them in parables, saying, And again Jesus spoke to them in parables, saying, Jesus spoke to them again in parables, saying:
2 The kingdom of the heavens is like a king-man, who made a marriage for his son. “The kingdom of heaven may be compared to a king who gave a wedding feast for his son, “The kingdom of heaven is like a king who prepared a wedding banquet for his son.
3 And he sent his servants to invite those who had been called to the marriage: and they were not willing to come. and sent his servants to call those who were invited to the wedding feast, but they would not come. He sent his servants to those who had been invited to the banquet to tell them to come, but they refused to come.
4 And again he sent other servants, saying; Speak to those who have been called, Behold, I have prepared my dinner: my oxen and my fatling are slain, and all things are ready: come to the marriage. Again he sent other servants, saying, ‘Tell those who are invited, “See, I have prepared my dinner, my oxen and my fat calves have been slaughtered, and everything is ready. Come to the wedding feast.”’ “Then he sent some more servants and said, ‘Tell those who have been invited that I have prepared my dinner: My oxen and fattened cattle have been butchered, and everything is ready. Come to the wedding banquet.’
5 And they being careless, went away, one to his farm, and another to his merchandise: But they paid no attention and went off, one to his farm, another to his business, “But they paid no attention and went off—one to his field, another to his business.
6 but the rest, taking his servants, insulted, and slew them. while the rest seized his servants, treated them shamefully, and killed them. The rest seized his servants, mistreated them and killed them.

9 Go ye therefore to crossings of the roads, and so many as you may find, invite to the marriage. Go therefore to the main roads and invite to the wedding feast as many as you find.’ So go to the street corners and invite to the banquet anyone you find.’
10 And those servants having gone out into the ways, led in all whom they found, both bad and good: and the wedding was filled with guests. And those servants went out into the roads and gathered all whom they found, both bad and good. So the wedding hall was filled with guests. So the servants went out into the streets and gathered all the people they could find, the bad as well as the good, and the wedding hall was filled with guests.
11 And the king having come in to look upon the guests, saw there a man not having on a wedding-garment. “But when the king came in to look at the guests, he saw there a man who had no wedding garment. “But when the king came in to see the guests, he noticed a man there who was not wearing wedding clothes.
12 And he says to him, Comrade, how did you come in hither, not having the wedding-garment? And he was silent. And he said to him, ‘Friend, how did you get in here without a wedding garment?’ And he was speechless. He asked, ‘How did you get in here without wedding clothes, friend?’ The man was speechless.
13 Then the king said to the servants, Having bound him feet and hands, cast him into the darkness which is without; and there shall be weeping and gnashing of the teeth. Then the king said to the attendants, ‘Bind him hand and foot and cast him into the outer darkness. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’ “Then the king told the attendants, ‘Tie him hand and foot, and throw him outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’
14 For many are called, but few elected. For many are called, but few are chosen.” “For many are invited, but few are chosen.”
15 Then the Pharisees going forth, took counsel how they might ensnare Him in His speech. Then the Pharisees went and plotted how to entangle him in his words. Then the Pharisees went out and laid plans to trap him in his words.
16 And they send to Him their own disciples along with the Herodians, saying, Teacher, we know that thou art true, and that thou art teaching the way of God in truth, and there is not a care to thee for any one; for thou dost not look into the face of men. And they sent their disciples to him, along with the Herodians, saying, “Teacher, we know that you are true and teach the way of God truthfully, and you do not care about anyone’s opinion, for you are not swayed by appearances. They sent their disciples to him along with the Herodians. “Teacher,” they said, “we know that you are a man of integrity and that you teach the way of God in accordance with the truth. You aren’t swayed by others, because you pay no attention to who they are.
17 Then tell us, what seems good to thee? is it lawful to give tribute to Caesar, or not? Tell us, then, what you think. Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar, or not?” Tell us then, what is your opinion? Is it right to pay the imperial tax to Caesar or not?”
18 And Jesus knowing their wickedness, said, Why tempt ye me, O ye hypocrites? But Jesus, aware of their malice, said, “Why put me to the test, you hypocrites? But Jesus, knowing their evil intent, said, “You hypocrites, why are you trying to trap me?
19 Show me the tribute money: and they brought Him a denarion. Show me the coin for the tax.” And they brought him a denarius. Show me the coin used for paying the tax.” They brought him a denarius,
20 And He says to them, Whose is this image and superscription? And Jesus said to them, “Whose likeness and inscription is this?” and he asked them, “Whose image is this? And whose inscription?”
21 They say to Him, Caesar's. Then He says to them, Therefore render Caesar the things which are Caesar's; and unto God the things which are God's. They said, “Caesar’s.” Then he said to them, “Therefore render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.” “Caesar’s,” they replied. Then he said to them, “So give back to Caesar what is Caesar’s, and to God what is God’s.”
22 And hearing they are astonished, and leaving Him, they went away. When they heard it, they marveled. And they left him and went away. When they heard this, they were amazed. So they left him and went away.
23 On that day the Sadducees came to Him, saying, there is no resurrection: and asked Him, The same day Sadducees came to him, who say that there is no resurrection, and they asked him a question, That same day the Sadducees, who say there is no resurrection, came to him with a question.
24 saying, Teacher, Moses said, If any man may die, not having children, his brother shall marry his wife, and raise up seed to his brother. saying, “Teacher, Moses said, ‘If a man dies having no children, his brother must marry the widow and raise up offspring for his brother.’ “Teacher,” they said, “Moses told us that if a man dies without having children, his brother must marry the widow and raise up offspring for him.
25 But there were among us seven brothers: the first marrying died, and having no seed left his wife to his brother. Now there were seven brothers among us. The first married and died, and having no offspring left his wife to his brother. Now there were seven brothers among us. The first one married and died, and since he had no children, he left his wife to his brother.
26 Likewise also, the second, and third, even unto seven. So too the second and third, down to the seventh. The same thing happened to the second and third brother, right on down to the seventh.
27 And last of all the woman also died. After them all, the woman died. Finally, the woman died.
28 Therefore in the resurrection, of which one of the seven shall she be the wife? for they all had her. In the resurrection, therefore, of the seven, whose wife will she be? For they all had her.” Now then, at the resurrection, whose wife will she be of the seven, since all of them were married to her?”
29 and Jesus responding said to them, You err, not knowing the Scriptures, nor the power of God. But Jesus answered them, “You are wrong, because you know neither the Scriptures nor the power of God. Jesus replied, “You are in error because you do not know the Scriptures or the power of God.
30 For in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but they are as angels of God in heaven: For in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angels in heaven. At the resurrection people will neither marry nor be given in marriage; they will be like the angels in heaven.
31 concerning the resurrection of the dead, have you not read that which was spoken to you by God, saying, And as for the resurrection of the dead, have you not read what was said to you by God: But about the resurrection of the dead—have you not read what God said to you,
32 I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living. ‘I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’? He is not God of the dead, but of the living.” I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’? He is not the God of the dead but of the living.”
33 And the multitudes hearing, were delighted with His teaching. And when the crowd heard it, they were astonished at his teaching. When the crowds heard this, they were astonished at his teaching.
34 And the Pharisees, hearing that He silenced the Sadducees, gathered themselves together. But when the Pharisees heard that he had silenced the Sadducees, they gathered together. Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the Pharisees got together.
35 And one of them, a theologian, tempting Him, asked Him also, saying, And one of them, a lawyer, asked him a question to test him. One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question:
36 Teacher, what is the great commandment in the law? “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?” “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”
37 And He said to him; Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. Jesus replied: “’Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’
38 This is the first and great commandment. This is the great and first commandment. This is the first and greatest commandment.
39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’
40 On these two commandments hang all the law, and the prophets. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.” All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
41 And the Pharisees being assembled, Jesus asked them, Now while the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them a question, While the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them,
42 saying, What seems to you concerning the Christ? whose son is He? They say to Him, Of David. saying, “What do you think about the Christ? Whose son is he?” They said to him, “The son of David.” “What do you think about the Messiah? Whose son is he?” “The son of David,” they replied.
43 He says to them, How then does David in the Spirit call Him Lord, saying, He said to them, “How is it then that David, in the Spirit, calls him Lord, saying, He said to them, “How is it then that David, speaking by the Spirit, calls him ‘Lord’? For he says,
44 The Lord said to my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, until I may make thine enemies the footstool of thy feet? “‘The Lord said to my Lord, “Sit at my right hand, until I put your enemies under your feet”’? “’The Lord said to my Lord: “Sit at my right hand until I put your enemies under your feet.|’
45 Then if David calls Him Lord, how is He his son? If then David calls him Lord, how is he his son?” If then David calls him ‘Lord,’ how can he be his son?”
46 And no one was able to respond a word to Him, neither did any one from that day dare to ask Him anything more. And no one was able to answer him a word, nor from that day did anyone dare to ask him any more questions. No one could say a word in reply, and from that day on no one dared to ask him any more questions.
