And again Jesus spoke to them in parables, saying, Once more Jesus spoke to them in parables: And Jesus answered and spake unto them again by parables, and said, Jesus spoke to them again in parables, saying,
“The kingdom of heaven may be compared to a king who gave a wedding feast for his son, “The kingdom of heaven may be compared to a king who gave a wedding banquet for his son. The kingdom of heaven is like unto a certain king, which made a marriage for his son, “The kingdom of heaven is like a king who held a wedding feast for his son.
and sent his servants to call those who were invited to the wedding feast, but they would not come. He sent out his slaves to summon those invited to the banquet, but they didn’t want to come. And sent forth his servants to call them that were bidden to the wedding: and they would not come. And he sent his slaves to call those who had been invited to the wedding feast, and they were unwilling to come.
Again he sent other servants, saying, ‘Tell those who are invited, “See, I have prepared my dinner, my oxen and my fat calves have been slaughtered, and everything is ready. Come to the wedding feast.”’ Again, he sent out other slaves, and said, Tell those who are invited: Look, I’ve prepared my dinner; my oxen and fattened cattle have been slaughtered, and everything is ready. Come to the wedding banquet.’ Again, he sent forth other servants, saying, Tell them which are bidden, Behold, I have prepared my dinner: my oxen and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready: come unto the marriage. Again he sent other slaves, saying, ‘Tell those who have been invited, “Behold, I have prepared my dinner; my oxen and my fattened cattle are all butchered and everything is ready. Come to the wedding feast!”’
But they paid no attention and went off, one to his farm, another to his business, “But they paid no attention and went away, one to his own farm, another to his business. But they made light of it, and went their ways, one to his farm, another to his merchandise: But they paid no attention and went their separate ways, one to his own farm, another to his business,
while the rest seized his servants, treated them shamefully, and killed them. And the others seized his slaves, treated them outrageously and killed them. And the remnant took his servants, and entreated them spitefully, and slew them. and the rest seized his slaves and treated them abusively, and then killed them.
The king was angry, and he sent his troops and destroyed those murderers and burned their city. The king was enraged, so he sent out his troops, destroyed those murderers, and burned down their city. But when the king heard thereof, he was wroth: and he sent forth his armies, and destroyed those murderers, and burned up their city. Now the king was angry, and he sent his armies and destroyed those murderers and set their city on fire.
Then he said to his servants, ‘The wedding feast is ready, but those invited were not worthy. “Then he told his slaves, The banquet is ready, but those who were invited were not worthy. Then saith he to his servants, The wedding is ready, but they which were bidden were not worthy. Then he said to his slaves, ‘The wedding feast is ready, but those who were invited were not worthy.
Go therefore to the main roads and invite to the wedding feast as many as you find.’ Therefore go to where the roads exit the city and invite everyone you find to the banquet.’ Go ye therefore into the highways, and as many as ye shall find, bid to the marriage. So go to the main roads, and invite whomever you find there to the wedding feast.’
And those servants went out into the roads and gathered all whom they found, both bad and good. So the wedding hall was filled with guests. So those slaves went out on the roads and gathered everyone they found, both evil and good. The wedding banquet was filled with guests. So those servants went out into the highways, and gathered together all as many as they found, both bad and good: and the wedding was furnished with guests. Those slaves went out into the streets and gathered together all whom they found, both bad and good; and the wedding hall was filled with dinner guests.
“But when the king came in to look at the guests, he saw there a man who had no wedding garment. But when the king came in to view the guests, he saw a man there who was not dressed for a wedding. And when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man which had not on a wedding garment: “But when the king came in to look over the dinner guests, he saw a man there who was not dressed in wedding clothes,
And he said to him, ‘Friend, how did you get in here without a wedding garment?’ And he was speechless. So he said to him, Friend, how did you get in here without wedding clothes?’ The man was speechless. And he saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou in hither not having a wedding garment? And he was speechless. and he said to him, ‘Friend, how did you get in here without wedding clothes?’ And the man was speechless.
Then the king said to the attendants, ‘Bind him hand and foot and cast him into the outer darkness. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’ “Then the king told the attendants, Tie him up hand and foot, and throw him into the outer darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’ Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast him into outer darkness; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. Then the king said to the servants, ‘Tie his hands and feet, and throw him into the outer darkness; there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth in that place.’
For many are called, but few are chosen.” “For many are invited, but few are chosen.” For many are called, but few are chosen. For many are called, but few are chosen.”
Then the Pharisees went and plotted how to entangle him in his words. Then the Pharisees went and plotted how to trap Him by what He said. Then went the Pharisees, and took counsel how they might entangle him in his talk. Then the Pharisees went and plotted together how they might trap Him in what He said.
And they sent their disciples to him, along with the Herodians, saying, “Teacher, we know that you are true and teach the way of God truthfully, and you do not care about anyone’s opinion, for you are not swayed by appearances. They sent their disciples to Him, with the Herodians. “Teacher,” they said, “we know that You are truthful and teach truthfully the way of God. You defer to no one, for You don’t show partiality. And they sent out unto him their disciples with the Herodians, saying, Master, we know that thou art true, and teachest the way of God in truth, neither carest thou for any man: for thou regardest not the person of men. And they sent their disciples to Him, along with the Herodians, saying, “Teacher, we know that You are truthful and teach the way of God in truth, and do not care what anyone thinks; for You are not partial to anyone.
Tell us, then, what you think. Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar, or not?” Tell us, therefore, what You think. Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar or not?” Tell us therefore, What thinkest thou? Is it lawful to give tribute unto Caesar, or not? Tell us then, what do You think? Is it permissible to pay a poll-tax to Caesar, or not?”
But Jesus, aware of their malice, said, “Why put me to the test, you hypocrites? But perceiving their malice, Jesus said, “Why are you testing Me, hypocrites? But Jesus perceived their wickedness, and said, Why tempt ye me, ye hypocrites? But Jesus perceived their malice, and said, “Why are you testing Me, you hypocrites?
Show me the coin for the tax.” And they brought him a denarius. Show Me the coin used for the tax.” So they brought Him a denarius. Shew me the tribute money. And they brought unto him a penny. Show Me the coin used for the poll-tax.” And they brought Him a denarius.
And Jesus said to them, “Whose likeness and inscription is this?” “Whose image and inscription is this?” He asked them.” And he saith unto them, Whose is this image and superscription? And He said to them, “Whose image and inscription is this?”
They said, “Caesar’s.” Then he said to them, “Therefore render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.” Caesar’s,” they said to Him. Then He said to them, “Therefore give back to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.” They say unto him, Caesar's. Then saith he unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's; and unto God the things that are God's. They said to Him, “Caesar’s.” Then He said to them, “Then pay to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s; and to God the things that are God’s.”
When they heard it, they marveled. And they left him and went away. When they heard this, they were amazed. So they left Him and went away. When they had heard these words, they marvelled, and left him, and went their way. And hearing this, they were amazed; and they left Him and went away.
The same day Sadducees came to him, who say that there is no resurrection, and they asked him a question, The same day some Sadducees, who say there is no resurrection, came up to Him and questioned Him:” The same day came to him the Sadducees, which say that there is no resurrection, and asked him, On that day some Sadducees (who say there is no resurrection) came to Jesus and questioned Him,
saying, “Teacher, Moses said, ‘If a man dies having no children, his brother must marry the widow and raise up offspring for his brother.’ Teacher, Moses said, if a man dies, having no children, his brother is to marry his wife and raise up offspring for his brother. Saying, Master, Moses said, If a man die, having no children, his brother shall marry his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother. saying, “Teacher, Moses said, ‘If a man dies having no children, his brother as next of kin shall marry his wife, and raise up children for his brother.’
Now there were seven brothers among us. The first married and died, and having no offspring left his wife to his brother. Now there were seven brothers among us. The first got married and died. Having no offspring, he left his wife to his brother. Now there were with us seven brethren: and the first, when he had married a wife, deceased, and, having no issue, left his wife unto his brother: Now there were seven brothers among us; and the first married and died, and having no children, he left his wife to his brother.
So too the second and third, down to the seventh. The same happened to the second also, and the third, and so to all seven. Likewise the second also, and the third, unto the seventh. It was the same also with the second brother, and the third, down to the seventh.
After them all, the woman died. Then last of all the woman died. And last of all the woman died also. Last of all, the woman died.
In the resurrection, therefore, of the seven, whose wife will she be? For they all had her.” In the resurrection, therefore, whose wife will she be of the seven? For they all had married her.” Therefore in the resurrection whose wife shall she be of the seven? for they all had her. In the resurrection, therefore, whose wife of the seven will she be? For they all had her in marriage.”
But Jesus answered them, “You are wrong, because you know neither the Scriptures nor the power of God. Jesus answered them, “You are deceived, because you don’t know the Scriptures or the power of God. Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God. But Jesus answered and said to them, “You are mistaken, since you do not understand the Scriptures nor the power of God.
For in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angels in heaven. For in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage but are like angels in heaven. For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven. For in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angels in heaven.
And as for the resurrection of the dead, have you not read what was said to you by God: Now concerning the resurrection of the dead, haven’t you read what was spoken to you by God: But as touching the resurrection of the dead, have ye not read that which was spoken unto you by God, saying, But regarding the resurrection of the dead, have you not read what was spoken to you by God:
‘I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’? He is not God of the dead, but of the living.” I am the God of Abraham and the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob? He is not the God of the dead, but of the living.” I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living. ‘I AM THE GOD OF ABRAHAM, THE GOD OF ISAAC, AND THE GOD OF JACOB’? He is not the God of the dead, but of the living.”
And when the crowd heard it, they were astonished at his teaching. And when the crowds heard this, they were astonished at His teaching. And when the multitude heard this, they were astonished at his doctrine. When the crowds heard this, they were astonished at His teaching.
But when the Pharisees heard that he had silenced the Sadducees, they gathered together. When the Pharisees heard that He had silenced the Sadducees, they came together. But when the Pharisees had heard that he had put the Sadducees to silence, they were gathered together. But when the Pharisees heard that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, they gathered together.
And one of them, a lawyer, asked him a question to test him. And one of them, an expert in the law, asked a question to test Him:” Then one of them, which was a lawyer, asked him a question, tempting him, and saying, And one of them, a lawyer, asked Him a question, testing Him:
“Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?” Teacher, which command in the law is the greatest?” Master, which is the great commandment in the law? “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?”
And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. He said to him, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. And He said to him, “‘YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND.’
This is the great and first commandment. This is the greatest and most important command. This is the first and great commandment. This is the great and foremost commandment.
And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. The second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. The second is like it, ‘YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.’
On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.” All the Law and the Prophets depend on these two commands.” On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets. Upon these two commandments hang the whole Law and the Prophets.”
Now while the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them a question, While the Pharisees were together, Jesus questioned them, While the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them, Now while the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them a question:
saying, “What do you think about the Christ? Whose son is he?” They said to him, “The son of David.” “What do you think about the Messiah? Whose Son is He?|” David’s,” they told Him. Saying, What think ye of Christ? whose son is he? They say unto him, The Son of David. “What do you think about the Christ? Whose son is He?” They said to Him, “The son of David.”
He said to them, “How is it then that David, in the Spirit, calls him Lord, saying, He asked them, “How is it then that David, inspired by the Spirit, calls Him ‘Lord: He saith unto them, How then doth David in spirit call him Lord, saying, He said to them, “Then how does David in the Spirit call Him ‘Lord,’ saying,
“‘The Lord said to my Lord, “Sit at my right hand, until I put your enemies under your feet”’? The Lord declared to my Lord, Sit at My right hand until I put Your enemies under Your feet? The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool? ‘THE LORD SAID TO MY LORD, “SIT AT MY RIGHT HAND, UNTIL I PUT YOUR ENEMIES UNDER YOUR FEET”’?
If then David calls him Lord, how is he his son?” “If David calls Him ‘Lord,’ how then can the Messiah be his Son?” If David then call him Lord, how is he his son? Therefore, if David calls Him ‘Lord,’ how is He his son?”
And no one was able to answer him a word, nor from that day did anyone dare to ask him any more questions. No one was able to answer Him at all, and from that day no one dared to question Him anymore. And no man was able to answer him a word, neither durst any man from that day forth ask him any more questions. No one was able to offer Him a word in answer, nor did anyone dare from that day on to ask Him any more questions.
