1	But, on the first day of the sabbaths, at early dawn, they came to the tomb, bringing the spices which they prepared. 6	He is not here, but was raised. Remember how He spake to you, being yet in Galilee,	He is not here, but has risen. Remember how he told you, while he was still in Galilee,	He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee:
7	saying, "The Son of Man must be delivered up into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and on the third day rise again,"	that the Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men and be crucified and on the third day rise.”	The Son of Man must be delivered over to the hands of sinners, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.’ “
8	And they remembered His words;	And they remembered his words,	Then they remembered his words.

12	But Peter, rising up, ran to the tomb; and, stooping down to look in, he sees the linen bandages alone, and he departed to his home , wondering at what had happened.	But Peter rose and ran to the tomb; stooping and looking in, he saw the linen cloths by themselves; and he went home marveling at what had happened.	Peter, however, got up and ran to the tomb. Bending over, he saw the strips of linen lying by themselves, and he went away, wondering to himself what had happened.
13	And, behold, two of them that very day were journeying to a village, the name of which was Emmaus, distant sixty furlongs from Jerusalem. 18	And one of them, Cleopas by name, said to Him, "Art Thou only a Stranger in Jerusalem, and knowest not the things that came to pass there in these days?"	Then one of them, named Cleopas, answered him, “Are you the only visitor to Jerusalem who does not know the things that have happened there in these days?”	One of them, named Cleopas, asked him, “Are you the only one visiting Jerusalem who does not know the things that have happened there in these days?”
19	And He said to them, "What things?" And they said to Him, "The things concerning Jesus the Nazarene, who was a Prophet, mighty in deed and word, before God and all the people:	And he said to them, “What things?” And they said to him, “Concerning Jesus of Nazareth, a man who was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people,	“What things?” he asked. “About Jesus of Nazareth,” they replied. “He was a prophet, powerful in word and deed before God and all the people.
20	and how the high priests and our rulers delivered Him up to the sentence of death, and crucified Him.	and how our chief priests and rulers delivered him up to be condemned to death, and crucified him.	The chief priests and our rulers handed him over to be sentenced to death, and they crucified him;
21	But we were hoping that it was He Who was about to redeem Israel; yea, indeed, and besides all these things, it is now the third day since these things came to pass.	But we had hoped that he was the one to redeem Israel. Yes, and besides all this, it is now the third day since these things happened.	but we had hoped that he was the one who was going to redeem Israel. And what is more, it is the third day since all this took place.
22	Moreover, also, certain women of our company astonished us, having been early at the tomb;	Moreover, some women of our company amazed us. They were at the tomb early in the morning,	In addition, some of our women amazed us. They went to the tomb early this morning
23	and, not finding His body, they came, saying that they had seen a vision of angels, who said that He was alive!	and when they did not find his body, they came back saying that they had even seen a vision of angels, who said that he was alive.	but didn’t find his body. 24	And some of those with us went away to the tomb, and found it even so as the women said; but Him they saw not." 25	And He said to them, "O inconsiderate and slow in heart to believe in all that the prophets spake!	And he said to them, “O foolish ones, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken!	He said to them, “How foolish you are, and how slow to believe all that the prophets have spoken!
26	Was it not necessary that the Christ should suffer these things, and enter into His glory?"	Was it not necessary that the Christ should suffer these things and enter into his glory?”	Did not the Messiah have to suffer these things and then enter his glory?”
27	And, beginning from Moses and from all the prophets, He thoroughly interpreted to them, in all the Scriptures, the things concerning Himself. 28	And they drew near to the village whither they were going; and He acted as if He would go further.	So they drew near to the village to which they were going. 29	And they constrained Him, saying, "Abide with us; because it is toward evening, and the day has already declined." But they urged him strongly, “Stay with us, for it is nearly evening; the day is almost over.” So he went in to stay with them.
30	And it came to pass, as He was reclining at table with them, that, taking the bread, He blessed it ; and, breaking, He was giving to them;	When he was at table with them, he took the bread and blessed and broke it and gave it to them.	When he was at the table with them, he took bread, gave thanks, broke it and began to give it to them.
31	and their eyes were opened, and they clearly recognized Him; and He vanished from them.	And their eyes were opened, and they recognized him. And he vanished from their sight.	Then their eyes were opened and they recognized him, and he disappeared from their sight.
32	And they said one to another, "Was not our heart burning within us, as He was talking with us in the way, as He was opening the Scriptures to us!" 33	And, rising up that same hour, they returned to Jerusalem; and they found the eleven gathered together, and those with them,	And they rose that same hour and returned to Jerusalem. And they found the eleven and those who were with them gathered together,	They got up and returned at once to Jerusalem. There they found the Eleven and those with them, assembled together
34	saying, "Truly the Lord arose, and appeared to Simon."	saying, “The Lord has risen indeed, and has appeared to Simon!”	and saying, “It is true! The Lord has risen and has appeared to Simon.”
35	And they were narrating the things that transpired in the way, and how He was made known to them in the breaking of the bread.	Then they told what had happened on the road, and how he was known to them in the breaking of the bread.	Then the two told what had happened on the way, and how Jesus was recognized by them when he broke the bread.
36	Now, as they were telling these things, He Himself stood in the midst of them, and saith to them, "Peace be to you!"	As they were talking about these things, Jesus himself stood among them, and said to them, “Peace to you!”	While they were still talking about this, Jesus himself stood among them and said to them, “Peace be with you.”
37	But, being terrified and frightened, they were supposing that they were beholding a spirit.	But they were startled and frightened and thought they saw a spirit.	They were startled and frightened, thinking they saw a ghost.
38	And He said to them, "Why are ye troubled? and wherefore do questionings arise in your heart?	And he said to them, “Why are you troubled, and why do doubts arise in your hearts?	He said to them, “Why are you troubled, and why do doubts rise in your minds?
39	See My hands and My feet, that it is I Myself; handle Me, and see; because a spirit does not have flesh and bones, as ye behold Me having."	See my hands and my feet, that it is I myself. Touch me, and see. For a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see that I have.”	Look at my hands and my feet. It is I myself! Touch me and see; a ghost does not have flesh and bones, as you see I have.”
40	And, saying this, He showed them His hands and His feet.	And when he had said this, he showed them his hands and his feet.	When he had said this, he showed them his hands and feet.
41	And, while they still disbelieved for joy, and marvelled, He said to them, "Have ye here anything to eat?"	And while they still disbelieved for joy and were marveling, he said to them, “Have you anything here to eat?”	And while they still did not believe it because of joy and amazement, he asked them, “Do you have anything here to eat?”
42	And they gave Him a piece of a broiled fish;	They gave him a piece of broiled fish,	They gave him a piece of broiled fish,

44	And He said to them, "These are My words which I spake to you, while being yet with you: that all things must be fulfilled, that have been written in the law of Moses, and the prophets, and the Psalms, concerning Me."	Then he said to them, “These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you, that everything written about me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled.”	He said to them, “This is what I told you while I was still with you: Everything must be fulfilled that is written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms.”
45	Then He opened their mind, that they might understand the Scriptures;	Then he opened their minds to understand the Scriptures,	Then he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures.
46	and He said to them, "Thus it has been written, that the Christ should suffer, and rise from the dead on the third day,	and said to them, “Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer and on the third day rise from the dead,	He told them, “This is what is written: The Messiah will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day,
47	and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name to all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem.	and that repentance for the forgiveness of sins should be proclaimed in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem.	and repentance for the forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
48	Ye are witnesses of these things,	You are witnesses of these things.	You are witnesses of these things.
49	And, behold, I send forth the promise of My Father upon you; but abide ye in the city, until ye be clothed with power from on high."	And behold, I am sending the promise of my Father upon you. But stay in the city until you are clothed with power from on high.”	I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high.”
50	And He led them as far as to Bethany; and, lifting up His hands, He blessed them.	And he led them out as far as Bethany, and lifting up his hands he blessed them.	When he had led them out to the vicinity of Bethany, he lifted up his hands and blessed them.
51	And it came to pass that, while He was blessing them, He parted from them, and was borne up into Heaven.	While he blessed them, he parted from them and was carried up into heaven.	While he was blessing them, he left them and was taken up into heaven.
52	And they, worshiping Him, returned to Jerusalem with great joy;	And they worshiped him and returned to Jerusalem with great joy,	Then they worshiped him and returned to Jerusalem with great joy.
53	and were continually in the temple, blessing God.	and were continually in the temple blessing God.	And they stayed continually at the temple, praising God.
