Moreouer brethren I declare vnto you, the Gospell which I preached vnto you, which also ye haue receaued, and wherin ye cotinue, Now I would remind you, brothers, of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, in which you stand, Now, brothers and sisters, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand.
By the which also ye are saued, yf ye kepe in memorie after what maner I preached vnto you, except ye haue beleued in vayne. and by which you are being saved, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you—unless you believed in vain. By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain.
For first of all I deliuered vnto you, that which I receaued: howe that Christe dyed for our sinnes, agreeyng to the scriptures: For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures,
And that he was buryed, and that he arose agayne the thirde day, accordyng to the scriptures: that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures,
And that he was seene of Cephas, then of the twelue: and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. and that he appeared to Cephas, and then to the Twelve.
After that, he was seene of mo then fiue hundred brethren at once: of which, many remayne vnto this day, & some are fallen a slepe. Then he appeared to more than five hundred brothers at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have fallen asleep. After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers and sisters at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep.
After that, he was seene of Iames, then of all the Apostles. Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles. Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles,
And last of all he was seene of me, as of one borne out of due tyme. Last of all, as to one untimely born, he appeared also to me. and last of all he appeared to me also, as to one abnormally born.
For I am the least of the Apostles, which am not worthy to be called an Apostle, because I persecuted the Churche of God. For I am the least of the apostles, unworthy to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. For I am the least of the apostles and do not even deserve to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God.
But by the grace of God, I am that I am: And his grace which is in me, was not in vayne: But I laboured more aboundauntly then they all, yet not I, but the grace of God which is with me. But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace toward me was not in vain. On the contrary, I worked harder than any of them, though it was not I, but the grace of God that is with me. But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all of them—yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me.
Therfore, whether it were I or they, so we preache, and so haue ye beleued. Whether then it was I or they, so we preach and so you believed. Whether, then, it is I or they, this is what we preach, and this is what you believed.
If Christe be preached howe that he rose from the dead: howe say some among you, that there is no resurrection of the dead? Now if Christ is proclaimed as raised from the dead, how can some of you say that there is no resurrection of the dead? But if it is preached that Christ has been raised from the dead, how can some of you say that there is no resurrection of the dead?
If there be no rysyng agayne of the dead, then is Christe not rysen agayne. But if there is no resurrection of the dead, then not even Christ has been raised. If there is no resurrection of the dead, then not even Christ has been raised.
If Christe be not rysen agayne, then is our preachyng vayne, and your fayth is also vayne. And if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is in vain and your faith is in vain. And if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith.
Yea, and we are founde false witnesses of God: For we haue testified of God, howe that he raysed vp Christe, whom he raysed not vp, yf it be so that the dead ryse not agayne. We are even found to be misrepresenting God, because we testified about God that he raised Christ, whom he did not raise if it is true that the dead are not raised. More than that, we are then found to be false witnesses about God, for we have testified about God that he raised Christ from the dead. But he did not raise him if in fact the dead are not raised.
For yf the dead ryse not agayne, then is not Christe rysen agayne. For if the dead are not raised, not even Christ has been raised. For if the dead are not raised, then Christ has not been raised either.
If it be so, that Christ rose not againe, then is your fayth vayne, and ye are yet in your sinnes. And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile and you are still in your sins. And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins.
Therfore, they which are fallen in a slepe in Christe, are perisshed. Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ are lost.
If in this lyfe only we haue hope on Christe, then are we of all men moste miserable. If in Christ we have hope in this life only, we are of all people most to be pitied. If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are of all people most to be pitied.
But nowe is Christe rysen from the dead, the first fruites of them that slept. But in fact Christ has been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.
For since by man came death, euen so by man came the resurrection of ye dead. For as by a man came death, by a man has come also the resurrection of the dead. For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man.
For, as by Adam all dye: euen so by Christe shall all be made alyue, For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive. For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive.
But euery man in his owne order. The first fruites is Christe, afterward, they that are Christes at his commyng. But each in his own order: Christ the firstfruits, then at his coming those who belong to Christ. But each in turn: Christ, the firstfruits; then, when he comes, those who belong to him.
Then commeth the ende, when he hath deliuered vp the kingdome to God the father, when he hath put downe all rule, and all auctoritie, and power. Then comes the end, when he delivers the kingdom to God the Father after destroying every rule and every authority and power. Then the end will come, when he hands over the kingdom to God the Father after he has destroyed all dominion, authority and power.
For he must raigne tyll he haue put all his enemies vnder his feete. For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet. For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet.
The last enemie that shalbe destroyed, is death. The last enemy to be destroyed is death. The last enemy to be destroyed is death.
For he hath put downe all thynges vnder his feete: But when he saith, all thynges are vnder hym, it is manifest that he is excepted which dyd put all thynges vnder hym. For “God has put all things in subjection under his feet.” But when it says, “all things are put in subjection,” it is plain that he is excepted who put all things in subjection under him. For he “has put everything under his feet.” Now when it says that “everything” has been put under him, it is clear that this does not include God himself, who put everything under Christ.
When all thynges are subdued vnto hym, then shall the sonne also hym selfe be subiect vnto him that put all thinges vnder hym, that God may be all in all. When all things are subjected to him, then the Son himself will also be subjected to him who put all things in subjection under him, that God may be all in all. When he has done this, then the Son himself will be made subject to him who put everything under him, so that God may be all in all.
Els what shall they do, which are baptized for the dead, yf the dead ryse not at all? Otherwise, what do people mean by being baptized on behalf of the dead? If the dead are not raised at all, why are people baptized on their behalf? Now if there is no resurrection, what will those do who are baptized for the dead? If the dead are not raised at all, why are people baptized for them?
Why are they then baptized for them? And why stande we in ieopardie euery houre? Why are we in danger every hour? And as for us, why do we endanger ourselves every hour?
By our reioycyng which I haue in Christe Iesu our Lorde, I dye dayly. I protest, brothers, by my pride in you, which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die every day! I face death every day—yes, just as surely as I boast about you in Christ Jesus our Lord.
If I haue fought with beastes at Ephesus after the maner of men, what auauntageth it me, yf the dead ryse not agayne? Let vs eate & drynke, for to morowe we shall dye. What do I gain if, humanly speaking, I fought with beasts at Ephesus? If the dead are not raised, “Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die.” If I fought wild beasts in Ephesus with no more than human hopes, what have I gained? If the dead are not raised, “Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die.”
Be not deceaued. Euyll wordes, corrupt good maners. Do not be deceived: “Bad company ruins good morals.” Do not be misled: “Bad company corrupts good character.”
Awake truely out of slepe, and sinne not: For some haue not the knowledge of God. I speake this to your shame. Wake up from your drunken stupor, as is right, and do not go on sinning. For some have no knowledge of God. I say this to your shame. Come back to your senses as you ought, and stop sinning; for there are some who are ignorant of God—I say this to your shame.
But some man wyll say, howe are the dead raysed vp? With what bodie shall they come? But someone will ask, “How are the dead raised? With what kind of body do they come?” But someone will ask, “How are the dead raised? With what kind of body will they come?”
Thou foole, that which thou sowest, is not quickened except it dye. You foolish person! What you sow does not come to life unless it dies. How foolish! What you sow does not come to life unless it dies.
And that which thou sowest, thou sowest not that body that shalbe, but bare corne, as of wheate, or of some other: And what you sow is not the body that is to be, but a bare kernel, perhaps of wheat or of some other grain. When you sow, you do not plant the body that will be, but just a seed, perhaps of wheat or of something else.
But God geueth it a body at his pleasure, to euery seede his owne body. But God gives it a body as he has chosen, and to each kind of seed its own body. But God gives it a body as he has determined, and to each kind of seed he gives its own body.
All flesshe, is not the same flesshe: But there is one maner of flesshe of me, another flesshe of beastes, another of fisshes, and another of byrdes. For not all flesh is the same, but there is one kind for humans, another for animals, another for birds, and another for fish. Not all flesh is the same: People have one kind of flesh, animals have another, birds another and fish another.
There are also celestial bodies, and bodies terrestrial: But the glorie of the celestial is one, and the glorie of the terrestrial another. There are heavenly bodies and earthly bodies, but the glory of the heavenly is of one kind, and the glory of the earthly is of another. There are also heavenly bodies and there are earthly bodies; but the splendor of the heavenly bodies is one kind, and the splendor of the earthly bodies is another.
There is another glorie of the sunne, and another glorie of the moone, and another glorie of the starres: For one starre differeth from another starre in glorie. There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars; for star differs from star in glory. The sun has one kind of splendor, the moon another and the stars another; and star differs from star in splendor.
So is the resurrection of the dead. It is sowen in corruption, it ryseth in incorruption. So is it with the resurrection of the dead. What is sown is perishable; what is raised is imperishable. So will it be with the resurrection of the dead. The body that is sown is perishable, it is raised imperishable;
It is sowen in dishonour, it riseth in honour. It is sowen in weakenesse, it ryseth in power. It is sown in dishonor; it is raised in glory. It is sown in weakness; it is raised in power. it is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory; it is sown in weakness, it is raised in power;
It is sowen a naturall bodie, it ryseth a spirituall bodie. There is a naturall bodie, and there is a spirituall bodie. It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body. it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body.
As it is also written: The first man Adam was made a lyuyng soule, and the last Adam was made a quickenyng spirite. Thus it is written, “The first man Adam became a living being”; the last Adam became a life-giving spirit. So it is written: “The first man Adam became a living being|; the last Adam, a life-giving spirit.
Howebeit, that is not first whiche is spirituall, but that whiche is naturall, and then that whiche is spirituall. But it is not the spiritual that is first but the natural, and then the spiritual. The spiritual did not come first, but the natural, and after that the spiritual.
The first man is of the earth, earthy: the seconde man is the Lorde from heauen. The first man was from the earth, a man of dust; the second man is from heaven. The first man was of the dust of the earth; the second man is of heaven.
As is the earthy, suche are they that are earthy: And as is the heauenly, such are they also that are heauenly. As was the man of dust, so also are those who are of the dust, and as is the man of heaven, so also are those who are of heaven. As was the earthly man, so are those who are of the earth; and as is the heavenly man, so also are those who are of heaven.
And as we haue borne the image of the earthy, so shall we beare the image of the heauenly. Just as we have borne the image of the man of dust, we shall also bear the image of the man of heaven. And just as we have borne the image of the earthly man, so shall we bear the image of the heavenly man.
This saye I brethren, that fleshe and blood can not inherite the kyngdome of God: Neither doth corruption, inherite incorruption. I tell you this, brothers: flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable. I declare to you, brothers and sisters, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable.
Beholde, I shewe you a misterie. We shall not all slepe: but we shall all be chaunged. Behold! I tell you a mystery. We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed—
In a moment, in the twynklyng of an eye, at the last trumpe. For the trumpe shall blowe, and the dead shall ryse incorruptible, and we shalbe chaunged. in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we shall be changed. in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed.
For this corruptible, must put on incorruption, and this mortall must put on immortalitie. For this perishable body must put on the imperishable, and this mortal body must put on immortality. For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality.
When this corruptible, hath put on incorruption, and this mortal, hath put on immortalitie, then shalbe brought to passe the saying that is written, Death is swalowed vp into victorie. When the perishable puts on the imperishable, and the mortal puts on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written: “Death is swallowed up in victory.” When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: “Death has been swallowed up in victory.”
O death where is thy stynge? O hell where is thy victorie? “O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?” “Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?”
The stynge of death is sinne, and the strength of sinne is the lawe. The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law.
But thankes be vnto God, whiche hath geue vs victorie through our Lord Iesus Christe. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Therfore my beloued brethren, be ye stedfast, vnmouable, alwayes riche in the worke of the Lorde, forasmuch as ye knowe that your labour is not in vayne in the Lorde. Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain. Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.
