| 1I commend to you our sister Phoebe, who is a deacon in the church in Cenchrea. | 1I commend unto you Phebe our sister, which is a servant of the church which is at Cenchrea: |
| 2Welcome her in the Lord as one who is worthy of honor among God’s people. Help her in whatever she needs, for she has been helpful to many, and especially to me. | 2That ye receive her in the Lord, as becometh saints, and that ye assist her in whatsoever business she hath need of you: for she hath been a succourer of many, and of myself also. |
| 3Give my greetings to Priscilla and Aquila, my co-workers in the ministry of Christ Jesus. | 3Greet Priscilla and Aquila my helpers in Christ Jesus: |
| 4In fact, they once risked their lives for me. I am thankful to them, and so are all the Gentile churches. | 4Who have for my life laid down their own necks: unto whom not only I give thanks, but also all the churches of the Gentiles. |
| 5Also give my greetings to the church that meets in their home. Greet my dear friend Epenetus. He was the first person from the province of Asia to become a follower of Christ. | 5Likewise greet the church that is in their house. | 12Give my greetings to Tryphena and Tryphosa, the Lord’s workers, and to dear Persis, who has worked so hard for the Lord. | 12Salute Tryphena and Tryphosa, who labour in the Lord. Salute the beloved Persis, which laboured much in the Lord. |
| 13Greet Rufus, whom the Lord picked out to be his very own; and also his dear mother, who has been a mother to me. | 13Salute Rufus chosen in the Lord, and his mother and mine. |
| 14Give my greetings to Asyncritus, Phlegon, Hermes, Patrobas, Hermas, and the brothers and sisters who meet with them. | 14Salute Asyncritus, Phlegon, Hermas, Patrobas, Hermes, and the brethren which are with them. |
| 15Give my greetings to Philologus, Julia, Nereus and his sister, and to Olympas and all the believers who meet with them. | 15Salute Philologus, and Julia, Nereus, and his sister, and Olympas, and all the saints which are with them. |
| 16Greet each other with a sacred kiss. All the churches of Christ send you their greetings. Paul’s Final Instructions | 16Salute one another with an holy kiss. The churches of Christ salute you. |
| 17And now I make one more appeal, my dear brothers and sisters. Watch out for people who cause divisions and upset people’s faith by teaching things contrary to what you have been taught. Stay away from them. | 17Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them. |
| 18Such people are not serving Christ our Lord; they are serving their own personal interests. By smooth talk and glowing words they deceive innocent people. | 18For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple. |
| 19But everyone knows that you are obedient to the Lord. This makes me very happy. I want you to be wise in doing right and to stay innocent of any wrong. | 19For your obedience is come abroad unto all men. I am glad therefore on your behalf: but yet I would have you wise unto that which is good, and simple concerning evil. |
| 20The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. May the grace of our Lord Jesus be with you. | 20And the God of peace shall bruise Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen. |
| 21Timothy, my fellow worker, sends you his greetings, as do Lucius, Jason, and Sosipater, my fellow Jews. | 21Timotheus my workfellow, and Lucius, and Jason, and Sosipater, my kinsmen, salute you. |
| 22I, Tertius, the one writing this letter for Paul, send my greetings, too, as one of the Lord’s followers. | 22I Tertius, who wrote this epistle, salute you in the Lord. |
| 23Gaius says hello to you. He is my host and also serves as host to the whole church. Erastus, the city treasurer, sends you his greetings, and so does our brother Quartus. | 23Gaius mine host, and of the whole church, saluteth you. Erastus the chamberlain of the city saluteth you, and Quartus a brother. |
| 24 | 24The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen. |
| 25Now all glory to God, who is able to make you strong, just as my Good News says. This message about Jesus Christ has revealed his plan for you Gentiles, a plan kept secret from the beginning of time. | 25Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began, |
| 26But now as the prophets foretold and as the eternal God has commanded, this message is made known to all Gentiles everywhere, so that they too might believe and obey him. | 26But now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith: |
| 27All glory to the only wise God, through Jesus Christ, forever. Amen. | 27To God only wise, be glory through Jesus Christ for ever. Amen. |
