| 1The Pharisees and some of the teachers of the law who had come from Jerusalem gathered around Jesus | 1Now the Pharisees and some of the experts in the law who came from Jerusalem gathered around him. |
| 2and saw some of his disciples eating food with hands that were defiled, that is, unwashed. | 2And they saw that some of Jesus' disciples ate their bread with unclean hands, that is, unwashed. |

| 24Jesus left that place and went to the vicinity of Tyre.
