Bless the LORD, O my soul. O LORD my God, thou art very great; thou art clothed with honour and majesty. | 1Bless the LORD, O my soul! O LORD my God, You are very great; You are clothed with splendor and majesty, |
Who coverest thyself with light as with a garment: who stretchest out the heavens like a curtain: | 2Covering Yourself with light as with a cloak, Stretching out heaven like a tent curtain. |
Who layeth the beams of his chambers in the waters: who maketh the clouds his chariot: who walketh upon the wings of the wind: | 3He lays the beams of His upper chambers in the waters; He makes the clouds His chariot; He walks upon the wings of the wind; |
Who maketh his angels spirits; his ministers a flaming fire: | 4He makes the winds His messengers, Flaming fire His ministers. |
Who laid the foundations of the earth, that it should not be removed for ever. | 5He established the earth upon its foundations, So that it will not totter forever and ever. |
Thou coveredst it with the deep as with a garment: the waters stood above the mountains. | 6You covered it with the deep as with a garment; The waters were standing above the mountains. |
At thy rebuke they fled; at the voice of thy thunder they hasted away. | 7At Your rebuke they fled, At the sound of Your thunder they hurried away. |
They go up by the mountains; they go down by the valleys unto the place which thou hast founded for them. | 8The mountains rose; the valleys sank down To the place which You established for them. |
Thou hast set a bound that they may not pass over; that they turn not again to cover the earth. | 9You set a boundary that they may not pass over, So that they will not return to cover the earth. |
He sendeth the springs into the valleys, which run among the hills. | 10He sends forth springs in the valleys; They flow between the mountains; |
They give drink to every beast of the field: the wild asses quench their thirst. | 11They give drink to every beast of the field; The wild donkeys quench their thirst. |
By them shall the fowls of the heaven have their habitation, which sing among the branches. | 12Beside them the birds of the heavens dwell; They lift up their voices among the branches. |
He watereth the hills from his chambers: the earth is satisfied with the fruit of thy works. | 13He waters the mountains from His upper chambers; The earth is satisfied with the fruit of His works. |
He causeth the grass to grow for the cattle, and herb for the service of man: that he may bring forth food out of the earth; | 14He causes the grass to grow for the cattle, And vegetation for the labor of man, So that he may bring forth food from the earth, |
And wine that maketh glad the heart of man, and oil to make his face to shine, and bread which strengtheneth man's heart. | 15And wine which makes man's heart glad, So that he may make his face glisten with oil, And food which sustains man's heart. |
The trees of the LORD are full of sap; the cedars of Lebanon, which he hath planted; | 16The trees of the LORD drink their fill, The cedars of Lebanon which He planted, |
Where the birds make their nests: as for the stork, the fir trees are her house. | 17Where the birds build their nests, And the stork, whose home is the fir trees. |
The high hills are a refuge for the wild goats; and the rocks for the conies. | 18The high mountains are for the wild goats; The cliffs are a refuge for the shephanim. |
He appointed the moon for seasons: the sun knoweth his going down. | 19He made the moon for the seasons; The sun knows the place of its setting. |
Thou makest darkness, and it is night: wherein all the beasts of the forest do creep forth. | 20You appoint darkness and it becomes night, In which all the beasts of the forest prowl about. |
The young lions roar after their prey, and seek their meat from God. | 21The young lions roar after their prey And seek their food from God. |
The sun ariseth, they gather themselves together, and lay them down in their dens. | 22When the sun rises they withdraw And lie down in their dens. |
Man goeth forth unto his work and to his labour until the evening. | 23Man goes forth to his work And to his labor until evening. |
O LORD, how manifold are thy works! in wisdom hast thou made them all: the earth is full of thy riches. | 24O LORD, how many are Your works! In wisdom You have made them all; The earth is full of Your possessions. |
So is this great and wide sea, wherein are things creeping innumerable, both small and great beasts. | 25There is the sea, great and broad, In which are swarms without number, Animals both small and great. |
There go the ships: there is that leviathan, whom thou hast made to play therein. | 26There the ships move along, And Leviathan, which You have formed to sport in it. |
These wait all upon thee; that thou mayest give them their meat in due season. | 27They all wait for You To give them their food in due season. |
That thou givest them they gather: thou openest thine hand, they are filled with good. | 28You give to them, they gather it up; You open Your hand, they are satisfied with good. |
Thou hidest thy face, they are troubled: thou takest away their breath, they die, and return to their dust. | 29You hide Your face, they are dismayed; You take away their spirit, they expire And return to their dust. |
Thou sendest forth thy spirit, they are created: and thou renewest the face of the earth. | 30You send forth Your Spirit, they are created; And You renew the face of the ground. |
The glory of the LORD shall endure for ever: the LORD shall rejoice in his works. | 31Let the glory of the LORD endure forever; Let the LORD be glad in His works; |
He looketh on the earth, and it trembleth: he toucheth the hills, and they smoke. | 32He looks at the earth, and it trembles; He touches the mountains, and they smoke. |
I will sing unto the LORD as long as I live: I will sing praise to my God while I have my being. | 33I will sing to the LORD as long as I live; I will sing praise to my God while I have my being. |
My meditation of him shall be sweet: I will be glad in the LORD. | 34Let my meditation be pleasing to Him; As for me, I shall be glad in the LORD. |
Let the sinners be consumed out of the earth, and let the wicked be no more. Bless thou the LORD, O my soul. Praise ye the LORD. | 35Let sinners be consumed from the earth And let the wicked be no more. Bless the LORD, O my soul. Praise the LORD! |
