The people of Jerusalem and their rulers did not recognize Jesus, yet in condemning him they fulfilled the words of the prophets that are read every Sabbath.27For those who live in Jerusalem and their rulers, because they did not recognize him nor understand the utterances of the prophets, which are read every Sabbath, fulfilled them by condemning him.27"For those who live in Jerusalem, and their rulers, recognizing neither Him nor the utterances of the prophets which are read every Sabbath, fulfilled these by condemning Him.27For they that dwell at Jerusalem, and their rulers, because they knew him not, nor yet the voices of the prophets which are read every sabbath day, they have fulfilled them in condemning him.27For the residents of Jerusalem and their rulers, since they did not recognize Him or the voices of the prophets that are read every Sabbath, have fulfilled their words by condemning Him.
Though they found no proper ground for a death sentence, they asked Pilate to have him executed.28And though they found in him no guilt worthy of death, they asked Pilate to have him executed.28"And though they found no ground for putting Him to death, they asked Pilate that He be executed.28And though they found no cause of death in him, yet desired they Pilate that he should be slain.28Though they found no grounds for the death penalty, they asked Pilate to have Him killed.
When they had carried out all that was written about him, they took him down from the cross and laid him in a tomb.29And when they had carried out all that was written of him, they took him down from the tree and laid him in a tomb.29"When they had carried out all that was written concerning Him, they took Him down from the cross and laid Him in a tomb.29And when they had fulfilled all that was written of him, they took him down from the tree, and laid him in a sepulchre.29When they had fulfilled all that had been written about Him, they took Him down from the tree and put Him in a tomb.

"We tell you the good news: What God promised our ancestors32And we bring you the good news that what God promised to the fathers,32"And we preach to you the good news of the promise made to the fathers,32And we declare unto you glad tidings, how that the promise which was made unto the fathers,32And we ourselves proclaim to you the good news of the promise that was made to our ancestors.
he has fulfilled for us, their children, by raising up Jesus. As it is written in the second Psalm: "'You are my son; today I have become your father.'33this he has fulfilled to us their children by raising Jesus, as also it is written in the second Psalm, “‘You are my Son, today I have begotten you.’33that God has fulfilled this promise to our children in that He raised up Jesus, as it is also written in the second Psalm, 'YOU ARE MY SON; TODAY I HAVE BEGOTTEN YOU.'33God hath fulfilled the same unto us their children, in that he hath raised up Jesus again; as it is also written in the second psalm, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee.33God has fulfilled this for us, their children, by raising up Jesus, as it is written in the second Psalm: You are My Son; today I have become Your Father.
God raised him from the dead so that he will never be subject to decay. As God has said, "'I will give you the holy and sure blessings promised to David.'34And as for the fact that he raised him from the dead, no more to return to corruption, he has spoken in this way, “‘I will give you the holy and sure blessings of David.’34"As for the fact that He raised Him up from the dead, no longer to return to decay, He has spoken in this way: 'I WILL GIVE YOU THE HOLY and SURE blessings OF DAVID.'34And as concerning that he raised him up from the dead, now no more to return to corruption, he said on this wise, I will give you the sure mercies of David.34Since He raised Him from the dead, never to return to decay, He has spoken in this way, I will grant you the faithful covenant blessings made to David.
So it is also stated elsewhere: "'You will not let your holy one see decay.'35Therefore he says also in another psalm, “‘You will not let your Holy One see corruption.’35"Therefore He also says in another Psalm, 'YOU WILL NOT ALLOW YOUR HOLY ONE TO UNDERGO DECAY.'35Wherefore he saith also in another psalm, Thou shalt not suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.35Therefore He also says in another passage, You will not allow Your Holy One to see decay.
"Now when David had served God's purpose in his own generation, he fell asleep; he was buried with his ancestors and his body decayed.36For David, after he had served the purpose of God in his own generation, fell asleep and was laid with his fathers and saw corruption,36"For David, after he had served the purpose of God in his own generation, fell asleep, and was laid among his fathers and underwent decay;36For David, after he had served his own generation by the will of God, fell on sleep, and was laid unto his fathers, and saw corruption:36For David, after serving his own generation in God's plan, fell asleep, was buried with his fathers, and decayed.

But the one whom God raised from the dead did not see decay.37but he whom God raised up did not see corruption.37but He whom God raised did not undergo decay.37But he, whom God raised again, saw no corruption.37But the One God raised up did not decay.
"Therefore, my friends, I want you to know that through Jesus the forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you.38Let it be known to you therefore, brothers, that through this man forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you,38"Therefore let it be known to you, brethren, that through Him forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you,38Be it known unto you therefore, men and brethren, that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins:38Therefore, let it be known to you, brothers, that through this man forgiveness of sins is being proclaimed to you,
Through him everyone who believes is set free from every sin, a justification you were not able to obtain under the law of Moses.39and by him everyone who believes is freed from everything from which you could not be freed by the law of Moses.39and through Him everyone who believes is freed from all things, from which you could not be freed through the Law of Moses.39And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.39and everyone who believes in Him is justified from everything that you could not be justified from through the law of Moses.
Take care that what the prophets have said does not happen to you:40Beware, therefore, lest what is said in the Prophets should come about:40"Therefore take heed, so that the thing spoken of in the Prophets may not come upon you:40Beware therefore, lest that come upon you, which is spoken of in the prophets;40So beware that what is said in the prophets does not happen to you:
"'Look, you scoffers, wonder and perish, for I am going to do something in your days that you would never believe, even if someone told you.'"41“‘Look, you scoffers, be astounded and perish; for I am doing a work in your days, a work that you will not believe, even if one tells it to you.’”41'BEHOLD, YOU SCOFFERS, AND MARVEL, AND PERISH; FOR I AM ACCOMPLISHING A WORK IN YOUR DAYS, A WORK WHICH YOU WILL NEVER BELIEVE, THOUGH SOMEONE SHOULD DESCRIBE IT TO YOU.'"41Behold, ye despisers, and wonder, and perish: for I work a work in your days, a work which ye shall in no wise believe, though a man declare it unto you.41Look, you scoffers, marvel and vanish away, because I am doing a work in your days, a work that you will never believe, even if someone were to explain it to you."

The Gentiles Ask to Hear the Gospel

As Paul and Barnabas were leaving the synagogue, the people invited them to speak further about these things on the next Sabbath.42As they went out, the people begged that these things might be told them the next Sabbath.42As Paul and Barnabas were going out, the people kept begging that these things might be spoken to them the next Sabbath.42And when the Jews were gone out of the synagogue, the Gentiles besought that these words might be preached to them the next sabbath.42As they were leaving, the people begged that these matters be presented to them the following Sabbath.
When the congregation was dismissed, many of the Jews and devout converts to Judaism followed Paul and Barnabas, who talked with them and urged them to continue in the grace of God.43And after the meeting of the synagogue broke up, many Jews and devout converts to Judaism followed Paul and Barnabas, who, as they spoke with them, urged them to continue in the grace of God.43Now when the meeting of the synagogue had broken up, many of the Jews and of the God-fearing proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas, who, speaking to them, were urging them to continue in the grace of God.43Now when the congregation was broken up, many of the Jews and religious proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas: who, speaking to them, persuaded them to continue in the grace of God.43After the synagogue had been dismissed, many of the Jews and devout proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas, who were speaking with them and persuading them to continue in the grace of God.
On the next Sabbath almost the whole city gathered to hear the word of the Lord.44The next Sabbath almost the whole city gathered to hear the word of the Lord.44The next Sabbath nearly the whole city assembled to hear the word of the Lord.44And the next sabbath day came almost the whole city together to hear the word of God.44The following Sabbath almost the whole town assembled to hear the message of the Lord.
When the Jews saw the crowds, they were filled with jealousy. 46Then Paul and Barnabas answered them boldly: "We had to speak the word of God to you first. Since you reject it and do not consider yourselves worthy of eternal life, we now turn to the Gentiles.46And Paul and Barnabas spoke out boldly, saying, “It was necessary that the word of God be spoken first to you. Since you thrust it aside and judge yourselves unworthy of eternal life, behold, we are turning to the Gentiles.46Paul and Barnabas spoke out boldly and said, "It was necessary that the word of God be spoken to you first; since you repudiate it and judge yourselves unworthy of eternal life, behold, we are turning to the Gentiles.46Then Paul and Barnabas waxed bold, and said, It was necessary that the word of God should first have been spoken to you: but seeing ye put it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, lo, we turn to the Gentiles.46Then Paul and Barnabas boldly said: "It was necessary that God's message be spoken to you first. But since you reject it and consider yourselves unworthy of eternal life, we now turn to the Gentiles!
For this is what the Lord has commanded us: "'I have made you a light for the Gentiles, that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth.'"47For so the Lord has commanded us, saying, “‘I have made you a light for the Gentiles, that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth.’”47"For so the Lord has commanded us, 'I HAVE PLACED YOU AS A LIGHT FOR THE GENTILES, THAT YOU MAY BRING SALVATION TO THE END OF THE EARTH.'"47For so hath the Lord commanded us, saying, I have set thee to be a light of the Gentiles, that thou shouldest be for salvation unto the ends of the earth.47For this is what the Lord has commanded us: I have made you a light for the Gentiles to bring salvation to the ends of the earth."
When the Gentiles heard this, they were glad and honored the word of the Lord; and all who were appointed for eternal life believed.48And when the Gentiles heard this, they began rejoicing and glorifying the word of the Lord, and as many as were appointed to eternal life believed.48When the Gentiles heard this, they began rejoicing and glorifying the word of the Lord; and as many as had been appointed to eternal life believed.48And when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad, and glorified the word of the Lord: and as many as were ordained to eternal life believed.48When the Gentiles heard this, they rejoiced and glorified the message of the Lord, and all who had been appointed to eternal life believed.
The word of the Lord spread through the whole region.49And the word of the Lord was spreading throughout the whole region.49And the word of the Lord was being spread through the whole region.49And the word of the Lord was published throughout all the region.49So the message of the Lord spread through the whole region.
But the Jewish leaders incited the God-fearing women of high standing and the leading men of the city. They stirred up persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and expelled them from their region.50But the Jews incited the devout women of high standing and the leading men of the city, stirred up persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and drove them out of their district.50But the Jews incited the devout women of prominence and the leading men of the city, and instigated a persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and drove them out of their district.50But the Jews stirred up the devout and honourable women, and the chief men of the city, and raised persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and expelled them out of their coasts.50But the Jews incited the prominent women, who worshiped God, and the leading men of the city. They stirred up persecution against Paul and Barnabas and expelled them from their district.
