Sins Requiring a Guilt Offering
(Leviticus 5:14–19; Leviticus 7:1–10)
1 וַיְדַבֵּ֥ר (And spoke) יְהוָ֖ה (YHWH) אֶל־ (to) מֹשֶׁ֥ה (Moses), לֵּאמֹֽר׃ (saying),
2 נֶ֚פֶשׁ (A soul) כִּ֣י (if) תֶחֱטָ֔א (sins), וּמָעֲלָ֥ה (and acts unfaithfully) מַ֖עַל (an unfaithfulness) בַּיהוָ֑ה (against YHWH), וְכִחֵ֨שׁ (and has lied) בַּעֲמִית֜וֹ (to his neighbor) בְּפִקָּד֗וֹן (concerning a deposit), אֽוֹ־ (or) בִתְשׂ֤וּמֶת (concerning a pledge) יָד֙ (of hand), א֣וֹ (or) בְגָזֵ֔ל (concerning a robbery), א֖וֹ (or if) עָשַׁ֥ק (he has extorted) אֶת־ (-) עֲמִיתֽוֹ׃ (his neighbor),
3 אֽוֹ־ (or if) מָצָ֧א (he has found) אֲבֵדָ֛ה (a lost thing) וְכִ֥חֶשׁ (and has lied) בָּ֖הּ (concerning it) וְנִשְׁבַּ֣ע (and has sworn) עַל־ (upon) שָׁ֑קֶר (falsehood)— עַל־ (upon) אַחַ֗ת (one) מִכֹּ֛ל (from all) אֲשֶׁר־ (that) יַעֲשֶׂ֥ה (does) הָאָדָ֖ם (the man), לַחֲטֹ֥א (to sin) בָהֵֽנָּה׃ (in them).
4 וְהָיָה֮ (And it shall be), כִּֽי־ (when) יֶחֱטָ֣א (he sins) וְאָשֵׁם֒ (and is guilty), וְהֵשִׁ֨יב (that he shall return) אֶת־ (-) הַגְּזֵלָ֜ה (the plunder) אֲשֶׁ֣ר (that) גָּזָ֗ל (he has stolen), א֤וֹ (or) אֶת־ (-) הָעֹ֙שֶׁק֙ (the extortion) אֲשֶׁ֣ר (that) עָשָׁ֔ק (he has extorted), א֚וֹ (or) אֶת־ (-) הַפִּקָּד֔וֹן (the deposit) אֲשֶׁ֥ר (that) הָפְקַ֖ד (has been deposited) אִתּ֑וֹ (with him), א֥וֹ (or) אֶת־ (-) הָאֲבֵדָ֖ה (the lost thing) אֲשֶׁ֥ר (that) מָצָֽא׃ (he found),
5 א֠וֹ (or) מִכֹּ֞ל (from all) אֲשֶׁר־ (which) יִשָּׁבַ֣ע (he swore) עָלָיו֮ (about) לַשֶּׁקֶר֒ (to a lie).
וְשִׁלַּ֤ם (And He shall restore) אֹתוֹ֙ (it) בְּרֹאשׁ֔וֹ (in its principal), וַחֲמִשִׁתָ֖יו (and a fifth) יֹסֵ֣ף (he shall add) עָלָ֑יו (to it), לַאֲשֶׁ֨ר (to whomever) ה֥וּא (it) ל֛וֹ (belongs), יִתְּנֶ֖נּוּ (he shall give it) בְּי֥וֹם (in the day) אַשְׁמָתֽוֹ׃ (of his guilt offering).
6 וְאֶת־ (And) אֲשָׁמ֥וֹ (his guilt offering) יָבִ֖יא (he shall bring) לַיהוָ֑ה (to YHWH), אַ֣יִל (a ram) תָּמִ֧ים (unblemished) מִן־ (from) הַצֹּ֛אן (the flock), בְּעֶרְכְּךָ֥ (in your valuation), לְאָשָׁ֖ם (for a guilt offering), אֶל־ (to) הַכֹּהֵֽן׃ (the priest).
7 וְכִפֶּ֨ר (And shall make atonement) עָלָ֧יו (upon him) הַכֹּהֵ֛ן (the priest) לִפְנֵ֥י (before the face) יְהוָ֖ה (of YHWH), וְנִסְלַ֣ח (and it shall be forgiven) ל֑וֹ (for him) עַל־ (regarding) אַחַ֛ת (one thing) מִכֹּ֥ל (from all) אֲשֶֽׁר־ (that) יַעֲשֶׂ֖ה (he does) לְאַשְׁמָ֥ה (to be guilty) בָֽהּ׃פ (in it).
The Burnt Offering
(Leviticus 1:1–17)
8 וַיְדַבֵּ֥ר (And spoke) יְהוָ֖ה (YHWH) אֶל־ (to) מֹשֶׁ֥ה (Moses), לֵּאמֹֽר׃ (saying),
9 צַ֤ו (Command) אֶֽת־ (-) אַהֲרֹן֙ (Aaron) וְאֶת־ (and) בָּנָ֣יו (his sons), לֵאמֹ֔ר (saying), זֹ֥את (this) תּוֹרַ֖ת (the law) הָעֹלָ֑ה (of the burnt offering) הִ֣וא (it is): הָעֹלָ֡ה (The burnt offering) עַל֩ (on) מוֹקְדָ֨ה (the hearth) עַל־ (on) הַמִּזְבֵּ֤חַ (the altar) כָּל־ (all) הַלַּ֙יְלָה֙ (the night) עַד־ (until) הַבֹּ֔קֶר (the morning), וְאֵ֥שׁ (and the fire) הַמִּזְבֵּ֖חַ (of the altar) תּ֥וּקַד (shall be kept burning) בּֽוֹ׃ (on it).
10 וְלָבַ֨שׁ (And shall put on) הַכֹּהֵ֜ן (the priest) מִדּ֣וֹ (his garment) בַ֗ד (of linen), וּמִֽכְנְסֵי־ (and his undergarments) בַד֮ (of linen) יִלְבַּ֣שׁ (he shall put) עַל־ (on) בְּשָׂרוֹ֒ (his flesh), וְהֵרִ֣ים (and he shall lift up) אֶת־ (-) הַדֶּ֗שֶׁן (the ashes) אֲשֶׁ֨ר (that) תֹּאכַ֥ל (consumed) הָאֵ֛שׁ (the fire) אֶת־ (with) הָעֹלָ֖ה (the burnt offering) עַל־ (on) הַמִּזְבֵּ֑חַ (the altar), וְשָׂמ֕וֹ (and he shall put them) אֵ֖צֶל (beside) הַמִּזְבֵּֽחַ׃ (the altar).
11 וּפָשַׁט֙ (And he shall take off) אֶת־ (-) בְּגָדָ֔יו (his garments), וְלָבַ֖שׁ (and he shall put on) בְּגָדִ֣ים (garments) אֲחֵרִ֑ים (other), וְהוֹצִ֤יא (and he shall carry) אֶת־ (-) הַדֶּ֙שֶׁן֙ (the ashes) אֶל־ (to) מִח֣וּץ (outside) לַֽמַּחֲנֶ֔ה (of the camp), אֶל־ (to) מָק֖וֹם (a place) טָהֽוֹר׃ (clean).
12 וְהָאֵ֨שׁ (And the fire) עַל־ (on) הַמִּזְבֵּ֤חַ (the altar) תּֽוּקַד־ (shall be kept burning) בּוֹ֙ (on it); לֹ֣א (not) תִכְבֶּ֔ה (it shall be put out), וּבִעֵ֨ר (and shall burn) עָלֶ֧יהָ (on it) הַכֹּהֵ֛ן (the priest) עֵצִ֖ים (wood) בַּבֹּ֣קֶר (morning) בַּבֹּ֑קֶר (by morning), וְעָרַ֤ךְ (and he shall arrange) עָלֶ֙יהָ֙ (on it) הָֽעֹלָ֔ה (the burnt offering), וְהִקְטִ֥יר (and he shall burn) עָלֶ֖יהָ (on it) חֶלְבֵ֥י (the fats) הַשְּׁלָמִֽים׃ (of the peace offerings).
13 אֵ֗שׁ (A fire) תָּמִ֛יד (continually) תּוּקַ֥ד (shall be kept burning) עַל־ (on) הַמִּזְבֵּ֖חַ (the altar); לֹ֥א (not) תִכְבֶֽה׃ס (it shall be put out).
The Grain Offering
(Leviticus 2:1–16)
14 וְזֹ֥את (And this) תּוֹרַ֖ת (is the law) הַמִּנְחָ֑ה (of the grain offering). הַקְרֵ֨ב (Shall bring near) אֹתָ֤הּ (it) בְּנֵֽי־ (the sons) אַהֲרֹן֙ (of Aaron) לִפְנֵ֣י (before the face) יְהוָ֔ה (of YHWH), אֶל־ (before) פְּנֵ֖י (the face) הַמִּזְבֵּֽחַ׃ (of the altar).
15 וְהֵרִ֨ים (And he shall lift up) מִמֶּ֜נּוּ (from it) בְּקֻמְצ֗וֹ (in his handful) מִסֹּ֤לֶת (from the fine flour) הַמִּנְחָה֙ (of the grain offering), וּמִשַּׁמְנָ֔הּ (and from its oil) וְאֵת֙ (and) כָּל־ (all) הַלְּבֹנָ֔ה (the frankincense) אֲשֶׁ֖ר (that is) עַל־ (on) הַמִּנְחָ֑ה (the grain offering), וְהִקְטִ֣יר (and shall burn it) הַמִּזְבֵּ֗חַ (on the altar) רֵ֧יחַ (for an aroma) נִיחֹ֛חַ (pleasing), אַזְכָּרָתָ֖הּ (its memorial portion) לַיהוָֽה׃ (to YHWH).
16 וְהַנּוֹתֶ֣רֶת (And the remainder) מִמֶּ֔נָּה (of it) יֹאכְל֖וּ (shall eat) אַהֲרֹ֣ן (Aaron) וּבָנָ֑יו (and his sons). מַצּ֤וֹת (Unleavened) תֵּֽאָכֵל֙ (it shall be eaten) בְּמָק֣וֹם (in a place) קָדֹ֔שׁ (holy). בַּחֲצַ֥ר (In the court) אֹֽהֶל־ (of the Tent) מוֹעֵ֖ד (of Meeting) יֹאכְלֽוּהָ׃ (they shall eat it).
17 לֹ֤א (Not) תֵאָפֶה֙ (it shall be baked) חָמֵ֔ץ (with leaven); חֶלְקָ֛ם (their portion) נָתַ֥תִּי (I have given) אֹתָ֖הּ (it) מֵאִשָּׁ֑י (from My fire offerings). קֹ֤דֶשׁ (Holy) קָֽדָשִׁים֙ (of holies) הִ֔וא (it is), כַּחַטָּ֖את (like the sin offering) וְכָאָשָֽׁם׃ (and like the guilt offering).
18 כָּל־ (All) זָכָ֞ר (the males) בִּבְנֵ֤י (among the sons) אַהֲרֹן֙ (of Aaron) יֹֽאכֲלֶ֔נָּה (shall eat it); חָק־ (it is a statute) עוֹלָם֙ (everlasting) לְדֹרֹ֣תֵיכֶ֔ם (throughout your⁺ generations) מֵאִשֵּׁ֖י (from the fire offerings) יְהוָ֑ה (of YHWH). כֹּ֛ל (All) אֲשֶׁר־ (that) יִגַּ֥ע (touches) בָּהֶ֖ם (them) יִקְדָּֽשׁ׃פ (will be holy).
19 וַיְדַבֵּ֥ר (And spoke) יְהוָ֖ה (YHWH) אֶל־ (to) מֹשֶׁ֥ה (Moses), לֵּאמֹֽר׃ (saying),
20 זֶ֡ה (This) קָרְבַּן֩ (is the offering) אַהֲרֹ֨ן (of Aaron) וּבָנָ֜יו (and his sons), אֲשֶׁר־ (which) יַקְרִ֣יבוּ (they shall bring near) לַֽיהוָ֗ה (to YHWH) בְּיוֹם֙ (in the day) הִמָּשַׁ֣ח (of being anointed) אֹת֔וֹ (his): עֲשִׂירִ֨ת (A tenth) הָאֵפָ֥ה (of an ephah) סֹ֛לֶת (of fine flour) מִנְחָ֖ה (a grain offering) תָּמִ֑יד (continually), מַחֲצִיתָ֣הּ (half of it) בַּבֹּ֔קֶר (in the morning) וּמַחֲצִיתָ֖הּ (and half of it) בָּעָֽרֶב׃ (in the evening).
21 עַֽל־ (On) מַחֲבַ֗ת (a griddle) בַּשֶּׁ֛מֶן (with the oil) תֵּעָשֶׂ֖ה (it shall be made). מֻרְבֶּ֣כֶת (Well mixed) תְּבִיאֶ֑נָּה (you shall bring it in) תֻּפִינֵי֙ (the baked) מִנְחַ֣ת (of a grain offering); פִּתִּ֔ים (pieces) תַּקְרִ֥יב (you shall bring near) רֵֽיחַ־ (an aroma) נִיחֹ֖חַ (pleasing) לַיהוָֽה׃ (to YHWH).
22 וְהַכֹּהֵ֨ן (And the priest) הַמָּשִׁ֧יחַ (anointed) תַּחְתָּ֛יו (in his place) מִבָּנָ֖יו (from among his sons) יַעֲשֶׂ֣ה (shall do) אֹתָ֑הּ (it) חָק־ (as a statute) עוֹלָ֕ם (everlasting) לַיהוָ֖ה (to YHWH); כָּלִ֥יל (completely) תָּקְטָֽר׃ (it shall be burned).
23 וְכָל־ (And every) מִנְחַ֥ת (grain offering) כֹּהֵ֛ן (of a priest), כָּלִ֥יל (a whole offering) תִּהְיֶ֖ה (shall be). לֹ֥א (Not) תֵאָכֵֽל׃פ (it shall be eaten).
The Sin Offering
(Leviticus 4:1–35; Leviticus 5:1–13)
24 וַיְדַבֵּ֥ר (And spoke) יְהוָ֖ה (YHWH) אֶל־ (to) מֹשֶׁ֥ה (Moses), לֵּאמֹֽר׃ (saying),
25 דַּבֵּ֤ר (Speak) אֶֽל־ (to) אַהֲרֹן֙ (Aaron) וְאֶל־ (and to) בָּנָ֣יו (his sons), לֵאמֹ֔ר (saying): זֹ֥את (This) תּוֹרַ֖ת (is the law) הַֽחַטָּ֑את (of the sin offering): בִּמְק֡וֹם (In the place) אֲשֶׁר֩ (where) תִּשָּׁחֵ֨ט (is slaughtered) הָעֹלָ֜ה (the burnt offering), תִּשָּׁחֵ֤ט (shall be slaughtered) הַֽחַטָּאת֙ (the sin offering) לִפְנֵ֣י (before the face) יְהוָ֔ה (of YHWH); קֹ֥דֶשׁ (holy) קָֽדָשִׁ֖ים (of holies) הִֽוא׃ (it is).
26 הַכֹּהֵ֛ן (The priest) הַֽמְחַטֵּ֥א (the one cleansing from sin) אֹתָ֖הּ (with it) יֹאכֲלֶ֑נָּה (shall eat it). בְּמָק֤וֹם (In a place) קָדֹשׁ֙ (holy) תֵּֽאָכֵ֔ל (it shall be eaten), בַּחֲצַ֖ר (in the court) אֹ֥הֶל (of the Tent) מוֹעֵֽד׃ (of Meeting).
27 כֹּ֛ל (All) אֲשֶׁר־ (that) יִגַּ֥ע (touches) בִּבְשָׂרָ֖הּ (its flesh) יִקְדָּ֑שׁ (shall be holy), וַאֲשֶׁ֨ר (and if) יִזֶּ֤ה (is sprinkled) מִדָּמָהּ֙ (its blood) עַל־ (on) הַבֶּ֔גֶד (any garment), אֲשֶׁר֙ (that which) יִזֶּ֣ה (it is sprinkled) עָלֶ֔יהָ (on which) תְּכַבֵּ֖ס (you shall wash) בְּמָק֥וֹם (in a place) קָדֹֽשׁ׃ (holy).
28 וּכְלִי־ (And a vessel) חֶ֛רֶשׂ (earthen) אֲשֶׁ֥ר (which) תְּבֻשַּׁל־ (it is boiled) בּ֖וֹ (in) יִשָּׁבֵ֑ר (shall be broken); וְאִם־ (and if) בִּכְלִ֤י (in a vessel) נְחֹ֙שֶׁת֙ (of bronze) בֻּשָּׁ֔לָה (it is boiled), וּמֹרַ֥ק (then it shall be scoured) וְשֻׁטַּ֖ף (and it shall be rinsed) בַּמָּֽיִם׃ (in the water).
29 כָּל־ (Every) זָכָ֥ר (male) בַּכֹּהֲנִ֖ים (among the priests) יֹאכַ֣ל (may eat) אֹתָ֑הּ (it); קֹ֥דֶשׁ (holy) קָֽדָשִׁ֖ים (of holies) הִֽוא׃ (it is).
30 וְכָל־ (And any) חַטָּ֡את (sin offering), אֲשֶׁר֩ (which) יוּבָ֨א (is brought) מִדָּמָ֜הּ (from the blood) אֶל־ (into) אֹ֧הֶל (the Tent) מוֹעֵ֛ד (of Meeting) לְכַפֵּ֥ר (to make atonement) בַּקֹּ֖דֶשׁ (in the Holy Place) לֹ֣א (not) תֵאָכֵ֑ל (shall be eaten); בָּאֵ֖שׁ (in the fire) תִּשָּׂרֵֽף׃פ (it shall be burned).
