1	And seeing the multitudes, He went up into the mountain; and having sat down, His disciples came to Him.	Seeing the crowds, he went up on the mountain, and when he sat down, his disciples came to him.	Now when Jesus saw the crowds, he went up on a mountainside and sat down. His disciples came to him,
2	And having opened His mouth He taught them, saying;	And he opened his mouth and taught them, saying:	and he began to teach them. He said:
3	Blessed are the poor in spirit: because the kingdom of the heavens is theirs.	“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.	“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
4	Blessed are the meek, because they shall inherit the earth.	“Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.	Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.
5	Blessed are they that mourn: because they shall be comforted.	“Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.	Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.
6	Blessed are they that hunger and thirst after righteousness: because they shall be filled.	“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.	Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.

11	Blessed are ye when they may despise you, and shall persecute you, and may say all evil against you, falsifying, for my sake.	“Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account.	“Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me.
12	Rejoice, and he exceedingly glad: because your reward is great in the heavens: for in this manner they persecuted the prophets who were before you.	Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.	Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
13	Ye are the salt of the earth; and if the salt may lose its savor, in what shall it be salted? It is yet without value, except having been cast out, to be trodden under feet by the people.	“You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people’s feet.	“You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.
14	Ye are the light of the world. A city sitting on a mountain is unable to be hidden.	“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.	“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.
15	Neither do they light a candle, and place it under a bushel, but on the candlestick; and it shineth to all who are in the house.	Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house.	Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.
16	Let your light so shine before the people, in order that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in the heavens.	In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.	In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
17	Think not that I came to destroy the law of the prophets: I came not to destroy, but to fulfill.	“Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.	“Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.
18	For truly I say unto you, Until heaven and earth may pass away, one jot or tittle can not pass from the law, until all things may be accomplished.	For truly, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass from the Law until all is accomplished.	For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished.
19	Therefore if any one may break one of the least of these commandments, and so teach the people, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of the heavens: but whosoever may do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of the heavens.	Therefore whoever relaxes one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever does them and teaches them will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.	Therefore anyone who sets aside one of the least of these commands and teaches others accordingly will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
20	For I say unto you, that if your righteousness may not abound more than that of the scribes and Pharisees, you can not enter into the kingdom of the heavens.	For I tell you, unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.	For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven.
21	You have heard that it was said to the ancients, Thou shalt not murder; and whosoever may murder shall be in danger of the judgment;	“You have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not murder; and whoever murders will be liable to judgment.’	“You have heard that it was said to the people long ago, ‘You shall not murder, and anyone who murders will be subject to judgment.’
22	but I say unto you that every one being angry with his brother, shall be in danger of the judgment; and whosoever may say to his brother, Thou scoundrel, shall be in danger of the council; and whosoever may say, Thou fool, shall be liable unto a hell of fire.	But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother will be liable to judgment; whoever insults his brother will be liable to the council; and whoever says, ‘You fool!’ will be liable to the hell of fire.	But I tell you that anyone who is angry with a brother or sister will be subject to judgment. Again, anyone who says to a brother or sister, ‘Raca,’ is answerable to the court. And anyone who says, ‘You fool!’ will be in danger of the fire of hell.
23	Therefore if you may bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you,	So if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you,	“Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother or sister has something against you,
24	leave there your gift before the altar, and go, first be reconciled to your brother, then having come offer your gift.	leave your gift there before the altar and go. 25	Be reconciled with your adversary quickly, while you are in the way with him; lest the adversary may deliver you to the judge, and the judge to the officer, and you may be cast into prison.	Come to terms quickly with your accuser while you are going with him to court, lest your accuser hand you over to the judge, and the judge to the guard, and you be put in prison.	“Settle matters quickly with your adversary who is taking you to court. Do it while you are still together on the way, or your adversary may hand you over to the judge, and the judge may hand you over to the officer, and you may be thrown into prison.
26	Truly I say unto you, You can not go out from thence until you have paid the last farthing.	Truly, I say to you, you will never get out until you have paid the last penny.	Truly I tell you, you will not get out until you have paid the last penny.
27	You have heard that it was said, Thou shalt not commit adultery.	“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’	“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’
28	But I say unto you that every one looking on a woman in order to lust after her hath already committed adultery with her in his heart.	But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery with her in his heart.	But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
29	And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable to thee that one of thy members may perish, and not that thy whole body may go away into hell.	If your right eye causes you to sin, tear it out and throw it away. For it is better that you lose one of your members than that your whole body be thrown into hell.	If your right eye causes you to stumble, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell.
30		And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. For it is better that you lose one of your members than that your whole body go into hell.	And if your right hand causes you to stumble, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to go into hell.
31	And it was said, Whosoever may send away his wife, let him give her a divorcement.	“It was also said, ‘Whoever divorces his wife, let him give her a certificate of divorce.’	“It has been said, ‘Anyone who divorces his wife must give her a certificate of divorce.’
32	But I say unto you, that every one sending away his wife, except on account of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever may marry her who has been cast off commits adultery.	But I say to you that everyone who divorces his wife, except on the ground of sexual immorality, makes her commit adultery, and whoever marries a divorced woman commits adultery.	But I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, makes her the victim of adultery, and anyone who marries a divorced woman commits adultery.
33	Again you have heard that it was said to the ancients, Thou shalt not swear falsely, but shall perform unto the Lord thine oaths.	“Again you have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not swear falsely, but shall perform to the Lord what you have sworn.’	“Again, you have heard that it was said to the people long ago, ‘Do not break your oath, but fulfill to the Lord the vows you have made.’
34	But I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven, because it is the throne of God;	But I say to you, Do not take an oath at all, either by heaven, for it is the throne of God,	But I tell you, do not swear an oath at all: either by heaven, for it is God’s throne;
35	nor by the earth, because it is the footstool of His feet; neither by Jerusalem, because it is the city of the great King.	or by the earth, for it is his footstool, or by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King.	or by the earth, for it is his footstool; or by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the Great King.
36	Neither swear by thy head, because thou art unable to make one hair white or black.	And do not take an oath by your head, for you cannot make one hair white or black.	And do not swear by your head, for you cannot make even one hair white or black.
37	But let your speech be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay; but that which aboundeth more than these is of the evil one.	Let what you say be simply ‘Yes’ or ‘No’; anything more than this comes from evil.	All you need to say is simply ‘Yes’ or ‘No’; anything beyond this comes from the evil one.
38	You have heard that it was said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth.	“You have heard that it was said, ‘An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.’	“You have heard that it was said, ‘Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth.’
39	But I say unto you, Resist not him that is evil: but whosoever smites thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also:	But I say to you, Do not resist the one who is evil. But if anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also.	But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also.
40	to him wishing to prosecute thee at law, and take away thy coat, let him have the cloak also.	And if anyone would sue you and take your tunic, let him have your cloak as well.	And if anyone wants to sue you and take your shirt, hand over your coat as well.
41	Whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him two.	And if anyone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles.	If anyone forces you to go one mile, go with them two miles.
42	Give to the one asking thee, and do not turn away from the one wishing to borrow from thee.	Give to the one who begs from you, and do not refuse the one who would borrow from you.	Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you.
43	You have heard that it was said, Thou shalt love thy neighbor and hate thine enemy.	“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’	“You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’
44	But I say unto you, Love your enemies with a divine love, bless those who curse you and pray for those who despitefully use you and persecute you:	But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,	But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,
45	in order that you may be the sons of your Father who is in the heavens: because He raises up His sun on the wicked and on the good, and rains on the righteous and on the unrighteous.	so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.	that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.
46	For if you love those that love you, what reward have ye? because the publicans also do the same.	For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do the same?	If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that?
47	If you salute your brethren only, what do ye more abundantly? do not the heathens also the same thing?	And if you greet only your brothers, what more are you doing than others? Do not even the Gentiles do the same?	And if you greet only your own people, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that?
48	Therefore ye shall be perfect, as your Father who is in heaven is perfect.	You therefore must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.	Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.
