3	If anyone questions you, tell him that the Lord needs them, and he will send them right away.”	If anyone says anything to you, you shall say, ‘The Lord needs them,’ and he will send them at once.”	And if any man say ought unto you, ye shall say, The Lord hath need of them; and straightway he will send them.	If anyone says anything to you, say that the Lord needs them, and he will send them right away.”	If anyone asks what you are doing, just say, ‘The Lord needs them,’ and he will immediately let you take them.”

The crowds that went ahead of him and those that followed shouted, “Hosanna to the Son of David!” “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!” “Hosanna in the highest heaven!”	Jesus was in the center of the procession, and the people all around him were shouting, “Praise God for the Son of David! Blessings on the one who comes in the name of the LORD! Praise God in highest heaven!”
10	When Jesus had entered Jerusalem, the whole city was stirred and asked, “Who is this?”	And when he entered Jerusalem, the whole city was stirred up, saying, “Who is this?”	And when he was come into Jerusalem, all the city was moved, saying, Who is this?	When Jesus entered Jerusalem, the whole city was stirred and asked, “Who is this?”	The entire city of Jerusalem was in an uproar as he entered. “Who is this?” they asked.
11	The crowds replied, “This is Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth in Galilee.”	And the crowds said, “This is the prophet Jesus, from Nazareth of Galilee.”	And the multitude said, This is Jesus the prophet of Nazareth of Galilee.	The crowds answered, “This is Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth in Galilee.”	And the crowds replied, “It’s Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth in Galilee.”
12	Then Jesus entered the temple courts and drove out all who were buying and selling there. He overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those selling doves.	And Jesus entered the temple and drove out all who sold and bought in the temple, and he overturned the tables of the money-changers and the seats of those who sold pigeons.	And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves,	Jesus entered the temple courts and drove out all who were buying and selling there. 13	And He declared to them, “It is written: ‘My house will be called a house of prayer.’ But you are making it ‘a den of robbers.’”	He said to them, “It is written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer,’ but you make it a den of robbers.”	And said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves.	“It is written,” he said to them, “’My house will be called a house of prayer,’ but you are making it ‘a den of robbers.’”	He said to them, “The Scriptures declare, ‘My Temple will be called a house of prayer,’ but you have turned it into a den of thieves!”

16	“Do You hear what these children are saying?” they asked. “Yes,” Jesus answered. “Have you never read: ‘From the mouths of children and infants You have ordained praise’?”	and they said to him, “Do you hear what these are saying?” And Jesus said to them, “Yes; have you never read, “‘Out of the mouth of infants and nursing babies you have prepared praise’?”	And said unto him, Hearest thou what these say? And Jesus saith unto them, Yea; have ye never read, Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings thou hast perfected praise?	“Do you hear what these children are saying?” they asked him. “Yes,” replied Jesus, “have you never read, “’From the lips of children and infants you, Lord, have called forth your praise’?”	They asked Jesus, “Do you hear what these children are saying?” “Yes,” Jesus replied. “Haven’t you ever read the Scriptures? For they say, ‘You have taught children and infants to give you praise.’”
17	Then He left them and went out of the city to Bethany, where He spent the night.	And leaving them, he went out of the city to Bethany and lodged there. And seeing a fig tree by the wayside, he went to it and found nothing on it but only leaves. And he said to it, “May no fruit ever come from you again!” And the fig tree withered at once.	And when he saw a fig tree in the way, he came to it, and found nothing thereon, but leaves only, and said unto it, Let no fruit grow on thee henceforward for ever. And presently the fig tree withered away.	Seeing a fig tree by the road, he went up to it but found nothing on it except leaves. Then he said to it, “May you never bear fruit again!” Immediately the tree withered.	and he noticed a fig tree beside the road. He went over to see if there were any figs, but there were only leaves. Then he said to it, “May you never bear fruit again!” And immediately the fig tree withered up.
20	When the disciples saw this, they marveled and asked, “How did the fig tree wither so quickly?”	When the disciples saw it, they marveled, saying, “How did the fig tree wither at once?”	And when the disciples saw it, they marvelled, saying, How soon is the fig tree withered away!	When the disciples saw this, they were amazed. “How did the fig tree wither so quickly?” they asked.	The disciples were amazed when they saw this and asked, “How did the fig tree wither so quickly?”
21	“Truly I tell you,” Jesus replied, “if you have faith and do not doubt, not only will you do what was done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, ‘Be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ it will happen.	And Jesus answered them, “Truly, I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what has been done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ it will happen.	Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done.	Jesus replied, “Truly I tell you, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and it will be done.	Then Jesus told them, “I tell you the truth, if you have faith and don’t doubt, you can do things like this and much more. You can even say to this mountain, ‘May you be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and it will happen.
22	If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.”	And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith.”	And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.	If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.”	You can pray for anything, and if you have faith, you will receive it.”
23	When Jesus returned to the temple courts and began to teach, the chief priests and elders of the people came up to Him. “By what authority are You doing these things?” they asked. “And who gave You this authority?”	And when he entered the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people came up to him as he was teaching, and said, “By what authority are you doing these things, and who gave you this authority?”	And when he was come into the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people came unto him as he was teaching, and said, By what authority doest thou these things? and who gave thee this authority?	Jesus entered the temple courts, and, while he was teaching, the chief priests and the elders of the people came to him. “By what authority are you doing these things?” they asked. “And who gave you this authority?”	When Jesus returned to the Temple and began teaching, the leading priests and elders came up to him. They demanded, “By what authority are you doing all these things? Who gave you the right?”
24	“I will also ask you one question,” Jesus replied, “and if you answer Me, I will tell you by what authority I am doing these things.	Jesus answered them, “I also will ask you one question, and if you tell me the answer, then I also will tell you by what authority I do these things.	And Jesus answered and said unto them, I also will ask you one thing, which if ye tell me, I in like wise will tell you by what authority I do these things.	Jesus replied, “I will also ask you one question. If you answer me, I will tell you by what authority I am doing these things.	“I’ll tell you by what authority I do these things if you answer one question,” Jesus replied.
25	What was the source of John’s baptism? Was it from heaven or from men?” They deliberated among themselves and said, “If we say, ‘From heaven,’ He will ask, ‘Why then did you not believe him?’	The baptism of John, from where did it come? From heaven or from man?” And they discussed it among themselves, saying, “If we say, ‘From heaven,’ he will say to us, ‘Why then did you not believe him?’	The baptism of John, whence was it? from heaven, or of men? And they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say unto us, Why did ye not then believe him?	John’s baptism—where did it come from? Was it from heaven, or of human origin?” They discussed it among themselves and said, “If we say, ‘From heaven,’ he will ask, ‘Then why didn’t you believe him?’	“Did John’s authority to baptize come from heaven, or was it merely human?” They talked it over among themselves. “If we say it was from heaven, he will ask us why we didn’t believe John.
26	But if we say, ‘From men,’ we are afraid of the people, for they all regard John as a prophet.”	But if we say, ‘From man,’ we are afraid of the crowd, for they all hold that John was a prophet.”	But if we shall say, Of men; we fear the people; for all hold John as a prophet.	But if we say, ‘Of human origin’—we are afraid of the people, for they all hold that John was a prophet.”	But if we say it was merely human, we’ll be mobbed because the people believe John was a prophet.”
27	So they answered, “We do not know.” And Jesus replied, “Neither will I tell you by what authority I am doing these things.	So they answered Jesus, “We do not know.” And he said to them, “Neither will I tell you by what authority I do these things.	And they answered Jesus, and said, We cannot tell. And he said unto them, Neither tell I you by what authority I do these things.	So they answered Jesus, “We don’t know.” Then he said, “Neither will I tell you by what authority I am doing these things.	So they finally replied, “We don’t know.” And Jesus responded, “Then I won’t tell you by what authority I do these things.
28	But what do you think? There was a man who had two sons. He went to the first one and said, ‘Son, go and work today in the vineyard.’	“What do you think? A man had two sons. And he went to the first and said, ‘Son, go and work in the vineyard today.’	But what think ye? A certain man had two sons; and he came to the first, and said, Son, go work to day in my vineyard.	“What do you think? There was a man who had two sons. He went to the first and said, ‘Son, go and work today in the vineyard.’	“But what do you think about this? A man with two sons told the older boy, ‘Son, go out and work in the vineyard today.’
29	‘I will not,’ he replied. But later he changed his mind and went.	And he answered, ‘I will not,’ but afterward he changed his mind and went.	He answered and said, I will not: but afterward he repented, and went.	“’I will not,’ he answered, but later he changed his mind and went.	The son answered, ‘No, I won’t go,’ but later he changed his mind and went anyway.
30	Then the man went to the second son and told him the same thing. ‘I will, sir,’ he said. But he did not go.	And he went to the other son and said the same. And he answered, ‘I go, sir,’ but did not go.	And he came to the second, and said likewise. And he answered and said, I go, sir: and went not.	“Then the father went to the other son and said the same thing. He answered, ‘I will, sir,’ but he did not go.	Then the father told the other son, ‘You go,’ and he said, ‘Yes, sir, I will.’ But he didn’t go.
31	Which of the two did the will of his father?” “The first,” they answered. Jesus said to them, “Truly I tell you, the tax collectors and prostitutes are entering the kingdom of God before you.	Which of the two did the will of his father?” They said, “The first.” Jesus said to them, “Truly, I say to you, the tax collectors and the prostitutes go into the kingdom of God before you.	Whether of them twain did the will of his father? They say unto him, The first. Jesus saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That the publicans and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you.	“Which of the two did what his father wanted?” “The first,” they answered. Jesus said to them, “Truly I tell you, the tax collectors and the prostitutes are entering the kingdom of God ahead of you.	“Which of the two obeyed his father?” They replied, “The first.” Then Jesus explained his meaning: “I tell you the truth, corrupt tax collectors and prostitutes will get into the Kingdom of God before you do.
32	For John came to you in the way of righteousness, and you did not believe him, but the tax collectors and prostitutes did. And even after you saw this, you did not repent and believe him.	For John came to you in the way of righteousness, and you did not believe him, but the tax collectors and the prostitutes believed him. And even when you saw it, you did not afterward change your minds and believe him.	For John came unto you in the way of righteousness, and ye believed him not: but the publicans and the harlots believed him: and ye, when ye had seen it, repented not afterward, that ye might believe him.	For John came to you to show you the way of righteousness, and you did not believe him, but the tax collectors and the prostitutes did. And even after you saw this, you did not repent and believe him.	For John the Baptist came and showed you the right way to live, but you didn’t believe him, while tax collectors and prostitutes did. And even when you saw this happening, you refused to believe him and repent of your sins.
33	Listen to another parable: There was a landowner who planted a vineyard. He put a wall around it, dug a winepress in it, and built a tower. Then he rented it out to some tenants and went away on a journey.	“Hear another parable. There was a master of a house who planted a vineyard and put a fence around it and dug a winepress in it and built a tower and leased it to tenants, and went into another country.	Hear another parable: There was a certain householder, which planted a vineyard, and hedged it round about, and digged a winepress in it, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and went into a far country:	“Listen to another parable: There was a landowner who planted a vineyard. He put a wall around it, dug a winepress in it and built a watchtower. Then he rented the vineyard to some farmers and moved to another place.	“Now listen to another story. A certain landowner planted a vineyard, built a wall around it, dug a pit for pressing out the grape juice, and built a lookout tower. Then he leased the vineyard to tenant farmers and moved to another country.
34	When the harvest time drew near, he sent his servants to the tenants to collect his share of the fruit.	When the season for fruit drew near, he sent his servants to the tenants to get his fruit.	And when the time of the fruit drew near, he sent his servants to the husbandmen, that they might receive the fruits of it.	When the harvest time approached, he sent his servants to the tenants to collect his fruit.	At the time of the grape harvest, he sent his servants to collect his share of the crop.
35	But the tenants seized his servants. They beat one, killed another, and stoned a third.	And the tenants took his servants and beat one, killed another, and stoned another.	And the husbandmen took his servants, and beat one, and killed another, and stoned another.	“The tenants seized his servants; they beat one, killed another, and stoned a third.	But the farmers grabbed his servants, beat one, killed one, and stoned another.
36	Again, he sent other servants, more than the first group. But the tenants did the same to them.	Again he sent other servants, more than the first. And they did the same to them.	Again, he sent other servants more than the first: and they did unto them likewise.	Then he sent other servants to them, more than the first time, and the tenants treated them the same way.	So the landowner sent a larger group of his servants to collect for him, but the results were the same.
37	Finally, he sent his son to them. ‘They will respect my son,’ he said.	Finally he sent his son to them, saying, ‘They will respect my son.’	But last of all he sent unto them his son, saying, They will reverence my son.	Last of all, he sent his son to them. ‘They will respect my son,’ he said.	“Finally, the owner sent his son, thinking, ‘Surely they will respect my son.’
38	But when the tenants saw the son, they said to one another, ‘This is the heir. Come, let us kill him and take his inheritance.’	But when the tenants saw the son, they said to themselves, ‘This is the heir. Come, let us kill him and have his inheritance.’	But when the husbandmen saw the son, they said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and let us seize on his inheritance.	“But when the tenants saw the son, they said to each other, ‘This is the heir. Come, let’s kill him and take his inheritance.’	“But when the tenant farmers saw his son coming, they said to one another, ‘Here comes the heir to this estate. Come on, let’s kill him and get the estate for ourselves!’
39	So they seized him and threw him out of the vineyard and killed him.	And they took him and threw him out of the vineyard and killed him.	And they caught him, and cast him out of the vineyard, and slew him.	So they took him and threw him out of the vineyard and killed him.	So they grabbed him, dragged him out of the vineyard, and murdered him.
40	Therefore, when the owner of the vineyard returns, what will he do to those tenants?”	When therefore the owner of the vineyard comes, what will he do to those tenants?”	When the lord therefore of the vineyard cometh, what will he do unto those husbandmen?	“Therefore, when the owner of the vineyard comes, what will he do to those tenants?”	“When the owner of the vineyard returns,” Jesus asked, “what do you think he will do to those farmers?”
41	“He will bring those wretches to a wretched end,” they replied, “and will rent out the vineyard to other tenants who will give him his share of the fruit at harvest time.”	They said to him, “He will put those wretches to a miserable death and let out the vineyard to other tenants who will give him the fruits in their seasons.”	They say unto him, He will miserably destroy those wicked men, and will let out his vineyard unto other husbandmen, which shall render him the fruits in their seasons.	“He will bring those wretches to a wretched end,” they replied, “and he will rent the vineyard to other tenants, who will give him his share of the crop at harvest time.”	The religious leaders replied, “He will put the wicked men to a horrible death and lease the vineyard to others who will give him his share of the crop after each harvest.”
42	Jesus said to them, “Have you never read in the Scriptures: ‘The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone. This is from the Lord, and it is marvelous in our eyes’?	Jesus said to them, “Have you never read in the Scriptures: “‘The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone; this was the Lord’s doing, and it is marvelous in our eyes’?	Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes?	Jesus said to them, “Have you never read in the Scriptures: “’The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone; the Lord has done this, and it is marvelous in our eyes’?	Then Jesus asked them, “Didn’t you ever read this in the Scriptures? ‘The stone that the builders rejected has now become the cornerstone. This is the Lord ’s doing, and it is wonderful to see.’
43	Therefore I tell you that the kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a people who will produce its fruit.	Therefore I tell you, the kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a people producing its fruits.	Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof.	“Therefore I tell you that the kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a people who will produce its fruit.	I tell you, the Kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a nation that will produce the proper fruit.
44	He who falls on this stone will be broken to pieces, but he on whom it falls will be crushed.”	And the one who falls on this stone will be broken to pieces; and when it falls on anyone, it will crush him.”	And whosoever shall fall on this stone shall be broken: but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder.	Anyone who falls on this stone will be broken to pieces; anyone on whom it falls will be crushed.”	Anyone who stumbles over that stone will be broken to pieces, and it will crush anyone it falls on.”
45	When the chief priests and Pharisees heard His parables, they knew that Jesus was speaking about them.	When the chief priests and the Pharisees heard his parables, they perceived that he was speaking about them.	And when the chief priests and Pharisees had heard his parables, they perceived that he spake of them.	When the chief priests and the Pharisees heard Jesus’ parables, they knew he was talking about them.	When the leading priests and Pharisees heard this parable, they realized he was telling the story against them—they were the wicked farmers.
46	Although they wanted to arrest Him, they were afraid of the crowds, because the people regarded Him as a prophet.	And although they were seeking to arrest him, they feared the crowds, because they held him to be a prophet.	But when they sought to lay hands on him, they feared the multitude, because they took him for a prophet.	They looked for a way to arrest him, but they were afraid of the crowd because the people held that he was a prophet.	They wanted to arrest him, but they were afraid of the crowds, who considered Jesus to be a prophet.
