1	When He completed all His words in the ears of the people, He came into Capernaum.	After he had finished all his sayings in the hearing of the people, he entered Capernaum.	When Jesus had finished saying all this to the people who were listening, he entered Capernaum.
2	And the servant of a certain centurion, being sick, was about to die, who was precious to him.	Now a centurion had a servant who was sick and at the point of death, who was highly valued by him.	There a centurion’s servant, whom his master valued highly, was sick and about to die.
3	And hearing about Jesus, he sent elders of the Jews to Him, asking Him that having come He may save his servant.	When the centurion heard about Jesus, he sent to him elders of the Jews, asking him to come and heal his servant.	The centurion heard of Jesus and sent some elders of the Jews to him, asking him to come and heal his servant.
4	And they, having come to Jesus, continued to entreat Him earnestly, saying, That he to whom He will do this is worthy:	And when they came to Jesus, they pleaded with him earnestly, saying, “He is worthy to have you do this for him,	When they came to Jesus, they pleaded earnestly with him, “This man deserves to have you do this,
5	for he loves our race, and himself built for us a synagogue.	for he loves our nation, and he is the one who built us our synagogue.”	because he loves our nation and has built our synagogue.”
6	And Jesus went along with them. And already He being not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to Him, saying to Him, Lord, be not troubled: for I am not worthy that you may come in under my roof:	And Jesus went with them. When he was not far from the house, the centurion sent friends, saying to him, “Lord, do not trouble yourself, for I am not worthy to have you come under my roof.	So Jesus went with them. He was not far from the house when the centurion sent friends to say to him: “Lord, don’t trouble yourself, for I do not deserve to have you come under my roof.
7	Therefore I did not count myself worthy to come to thee; but speak the word, and my servant shall be healed.	Therefore I did not presume to come to you. But say the word, and let my servant be healed.	That is why I did not even consider myself worthy to come to you. But say the word, and my servant will be healed.
8	For I am also a man placed under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this one, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it.	For I too am a man set under authority, with soldiers under me: and I say to one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes; and to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.”	For I myself am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. I tell this one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and that one, ‘Come,’ and he comes. I say to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.”
9	And Jesus, having heard these words, was astonished at him, and turning to the multitude following said, I say unto you, I did not find so great faith in Israel.	When Jesus heard these things, he marveled at him, and turning to the crowd that followed him, said, “I tell you, not even in Israel have I found such faith.”	When Jesus heard this, he was amazed at him, and turning to the crowd following him, he said, “I tell you, I have not found such great faith even in Israel.”
10	And those having been sent, returning to the house, found the servant well.	And when those who had been sent returned to the house, they found the servant well.	Then the men who had been sent returned to the house and found the servant well.
11	And it came to pass consecutively, He departed into a city called Nain; and His many disciples and a great multitude went along with Him.	Soon afterward he went to a town called Nain, and his disciples and a great crowd went with him.	Soon afterward, Jesus went to a town called Nain, and his disciples and a large crowd went along with him.
12	And when He drew nigh unto the gate of the city, behold, a dead man, an only born son to his mother, and she a widow, was indeed being carried out: and a great multitude of the city was along with her.	As he drew near to the gate of the town, behold, a man who had died was being carried out, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow, and a considerable crowd from the town was with her.	As he approached the town gate, a dead person was being carried out—the only son of his mother, and she was a widow. And a large crowd from the town was with her.
13	And the Lord seeing her, was moved with compassion towards her, and said to her, Weep not.	And when the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her and said to her, “Do not weep.”	When the Lord saw her, his heart went out to her and he said, “Don’t cry.”
14	And having come forward He touched the bier: and the pall-bearers stood still: and He said, Young man, I say unto thee, Arise.	Then he came up and touched the bier, and the bearers stood still. And he said, “Young man, I say to you, arise.”	Then he went up and touched the bier they were carrying him on, and the bearers stood still. He said, “Young man, I say to you, get up!”
15	And the dead man sat up, and began to talk, and Ile gave him to his mother.	And the dead man sat up and began to speak, and Jesus gave him to his mother.	The dead man sat up and began to talk, and Jesus gave him back to his mother.
16	And fear seized them all: and they continued to glorify God, saying that, A great prophet has arisen among us: and, God has looked upon His people.	Fear seized them all, and they glorified God, saying, “A great prophet has arisen among us!” and “God has visited his people!”	They were all filled with awe and praised God. “A great prophet has appeared among us,” they said. “God has come to help his people.”
17	And that word about Him went out in all Judea, and all the country round about.	And this report about him spread through the whole of Judea and all the surrounding country.	This news about Jesus spread throughout Judea and the surrounding country.
18	And His disciples proclaimed to John concerning all these things.	The disciples of John reported all these things to him. And John,	John’s disciples told him about all these things. Calling two of them,
19	And John calling certain two of his disciples sent them to the Lord, saying, Art thou the one coming, or must we expect another?	calling two of his disciples to him, sent them to the Lord, saying, “Are you the one who is to come, or shall we look for another?”	he sent them to the Lord to ask, “Are you the one who is to come, or should we expect someone else?”
20	And the men having come to Him, said; John the Baptist sent us to thee, saving; Art thou the one coming, or must we expect another?	And when the men had come to him, they said, “John the Baptist has sent us to you, saying, ‘Are you the one who is to come, or shall we look for another?’”	When the men came to Jesus, they said, “John the Baptist sent us to you to ask, ‘Are you the one who is to come, or should we expect someone else?’”
21	And at that hour He healed many of their diseases and ailments and evil spirits; and He conferred on many blind people the power to see.	In that hour he healed many people of diseases and plagues and evil spirits, and on many who were blind he bestowed sight.	At that very time Jesus cured many who had diseases, sicknesses and evil spirits, and gave sight to many who were blind.
22	And Jesus responding said to them, Having gone, proclaim to John those things which you saw and heard; that the blind are seeing, the lame are walking about, the lepers are being cleansed, the deaf are hearing, the dead are being raised up, the poor are having the gospel preached unto them;	And he answered them, “Go and tell John what you have seen and heard: the blind receive their sight, the lame walk, lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, the poor have good news preached to them.	So he replied to the messengers, “Go back and report to John what you have seen and heard: The blind receive sight, the lame walk, those who have leprosy are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is proclaimed to the poor.
23	and happy is he whosoever may not be offended in me.	And blessed is the one who is not offended by me.”	Blessed is anyone who does not stumble on account of me.”
24	And the messengers of John having gone away, He began to speak to the multitudes concerning John, What went ye out into the wilderness to see? a reed shaken by the wind?	When John’s messengers had gone, Jesus began to speak to the crowds concerning John: “What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken by the wind?	After John’s messengers left, Jesus began to speak to the crowd about John: “What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed swayed by the wind?
25	But what went you out into the wilderness to see? a man clothed in soft raiment? Behold those who are in gaudy apparel and luxury, are in royal palaces.	What then did you go out to see? A man dressed in soft clothing? Behold, those who are dressed in splendid clothing and live in luxury are in kings’ courts.	If not, what did you go out to see? A man dressed in fine clothes? No, those who wear expensive clothes and indulge in luxury are in palaces.
26	But what went you out to see? a prophet? Yea, and I say unto you even more than a prophet.	What then did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and more than a prophet.	But what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and more than a prophet.
27	This is he concerning whom it has been written, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, who will prepare thy way before thee.	This is he of whom it is written, “‘Behold, I send my messenger before your face, who will prepare your way before you.’	This is the one about whom it is written: “’I will send my messenger ahead of you, who will prepare your way before you.’
28	I say unto you, among those having been born of women no prophet is greater than John the Baptist; nevertheless the least in the kingdom of God is greater than he.	I tell you, among those born of women none is greater than John. Yet the one who is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he.”	I tell you, among those born of women there is no one greater than John; yet the one who is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he.”
29	And all the people hearing and the publicans justified God, being baptized with the baptism of John.	(When all the people heard this, and the tax collectors too, they declared God just, having been baptized with the baptism of John,	(All the people, even the tax collectors, when they heard Jesus’ words, acknowledged that God’s way was right, because they had been baptized by John.
30	But the Pharisees and theologians rejected the counsel of God, against themselves, not having been baptized by him.	but the Pharisees and the lawyers rejected the purpose of God for themselves, not having been baptized by him.)	But the Pharisees and the experts in the law rejected God’s purpose for themselves, because they had not been baptized by John.)
31	Then to whom shall I liken the men of this generation, and to whom are they like?	“To what then shall I compare the people of this generation, and what are they like?	Jesus went on to say, “To what, then, can I compare the people of this generation? What are they like?
32	They are like unto little children sitting in the market-place, and calling to one another, and saying, We piped unto you, and you did not dance; we mourned unto you, and you did not weep.	They are like children sitting in the marketplace and calling to one another, “‘We played the flute for you, and you did not dance; we sang a dirge, and you did not weep.’	They are like children sitting in the marketplace and calling out to each other: “’We played the pipe for you, and you did not dance; we sang a dirge, and you did not cry.’
33	For John the Baptist has come neither eating bread nor drinking wine; and you say, He has a demon.	For John the Baptist has come eating no bread and drinking no wine, and you say, ‘He has a demon.’	For John the Baptist came neither eating bread nor drinking wine, and you say, ‘He has a demon.’
34	The Son of man has come eating and drinking, and you say, Behold, a gluttonous wine-drinking man, a friend of publicans and sinners.	The Son of Man has come eating and drinking, and you say, ‘Look at him! A glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’	The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and you say, ‘Here is a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners.’
35	Truly wisdom is justified by her children.	Yet wisdom is justified by all her children.”	But wisdom is proved right by all her children.”
36	And a certain one of the Pharisees, asked Him, that He would eat with him, and having come into the house of the Pharisee, He sat down to the table.	One of the Pharisees asked him to eat with him, and he went into the Pharisee’s house and reclined at table.	When one of the Pharisees invited Jesus to have dinner with him, he went to the Pharisee’s house and reclined at the table.
37	Behold, a woman who was a sinner, in the city, also having learned that He is dining in the house of the Pharisee, breaking an alabaster box of myrrh,	And behold, a woman of the city, who was a sinner, when she learned that he was reclining at table in the Pharisee’s house, brought an alabaster flask of ointment,	A woman in that town who lived a sinful life learned that Jesus was eating at the Pharisee’s house, so she came there with an alabaster jar of perfume.
38	and standing behind by His feet, weeping, began to moisten His feel with tears, and she wiped them with the hairs of her head, and she continued to copiously kiss His feet, and to anoint them with the myrrh.	and standing behind him at his feet, weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears and wiped them with the hair of her head and kissed his feet and anointed them with the ointment.	As she stood behind him at his feet weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears. Then she wiped them with her hair, kissed them and poured perfume on them.
39	And the Pharisee, having invited Him, seeing, spoke within himself, saying, If He were a prophet, He would know who and what kind the woman is, who touches Him, because she is a sinner.	Now when the Pharisee who had invited him saw this, he said to himself, “If this man were a prophet, he would have known who and what sort of woman this is who is touching him, for she is a sinner.”	When the Pharisee who had invited him saw this, he said to himself, “If this man were a prophet, he would know who is touching him and what kind of woman she is—that she is a sinner.”
40	And Jesus responding said to him, Simon, I have something to say to thee. And he says, Speak, Teacher.	And Jesus answering said to him, “Simon, I have something to say to you.” And he answered, “Say it, Teacher.”	Jesus answered him, “Simon, I have something to tell you.” “Tell me, teacher,” he said.
41	There were two debtors to a certain creditor: the one owed him five hundred denaria, and the other fifty.	“A certain moneylender had two debtors. One owed five hundred denarii, and the other fifty.	“Two people owed money to a certain moneylender. One owed him five hundred denarii, and the other fifty.
42	And they not being able to pay, he forgave them both. Then which one of them will love him the more?	When they could not pay, he cancelled the debt of both. Now which of them will love him more?”	Neither of them had the money to pay him back, so he forgave the debts of both. Now which of them will love him more?”
43	Simon responding said, I perceive, that he, to whom he forgave the more. And He said to him, You answered correctly.	Simon answered, “The one, I suppose, for whom he cancelled the larger debt.” And he said to him, “You have judged rightly.”	Simon replied, “I suppose the one who had the bigger debt forgiven.” “You have judged correctly,” Jesus said.
44	And turning to the woman He said to Simon, Do you see this woman? I came into thy house, thou gavest me no water for my feet: but she washed my feet with tears, and wiped them with her hairs.	Then turning toward the woman he said to Simon, “Do you see this woman? I entered your house; you gave me no water for my feet, but she has wet my feet with her tears and wiped them with her hair.	Then he turned toward the woman and said to Simon, “Do you see this woman? I came into your house. You did not give me any water for my feet, but she wet my feet with her tears and wiped them with her hair.
45	Thou gavest me no kiss: she, from the time I came in, did not cease copiously kissing my feet.	You gave me no kiss, but from the time I came in she has not ceased to kiss my feet.	You did not give me a kiss, but this woman, from the time I entered, has not stopped kissing my feet.
46	Thou didst not anoint my head with oil: but she anointed my feet with myrrh.	You did not anoint my head with oil, but she has anointed my feet with ointment.	You did not put oil on my head, but she has poured perfume on my feet.
47	Therefore I say unto thee, her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but he to whom little is forgiven, loveth little.	Therefore I tell you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven—for she loved much. But he who is forgiven little, loves little.”	Therefore, I tell you, her many sins have been forgiven—as her great love has shown. But whoever has been forgiven little loves little.”
48	And He said to her; Thy sins are forgiven.	And he said to her, “Your sins are forgiven.”	Then Jesus said to her, “Your sins are forgiven.”
49	And those sitting along with Him began to say among themselves, Who is this who even forgives sins?	Then those who were at table with him began to say among themselves, “Who is this, who even forgives sins?”	The other guests began to say among themselves, “Who is this who even forgives sins?”
50	And He said to the woman, Thy faith hath saved them; go in peace.	And he said to the woman, “Your faith has saved you; go in peace.”	Jesus said to the woman, “Your faith has saved you; go in peace.”
