1 And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be taxed. In those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be registered. In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world.
2 (And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.) This was the first registration when Quirinius was governor of Syria. (This was the first census that took place while Quirinius was governor of Syria.)
3 And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city. And all went to be registered, each to his own town. And everyone went to their own town to register.

39 And when they had performed all things according to the law of the Lord, they returned into Galilee, to their own city Nazareth. Then they began looking for him among their relatives and friends.
45 And when they found him not, they turned back again to Jerusalem, seeking him. and when they did not find him, they returned to Jerusalem, searching for him. When they did not find him, they went back to Jerusalem to look for him.
46 And it came to pass, that after three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the middle of the doctors, both hearing them, and asking them questions. Behold, your father and I have been searching for you in great distress.” When his parents saw him, they were astonished. His mother said to him, “Son, why have you treated us like this? Your father and I have been anxiously searching for you.”
49 And he said to them, How is it that you sought me? knew you not that I must be about my Father's business? And he said to them, “Why were you looking for me? Did you not know that I must be in my Father’s house?” “Why were you searching for me?” he asked. “Didn’t you know I had to be in my Father’s house?”
50 And they understood not the saying which he spoke to them. And they did not understand the saying that he spoke to them. But they did not understand what he was saying to them.
51 And he went down with them, and came to Nazareth, and was subject to them: but his mother kept all these sayings in her heart. And he went down with them and came to Nazareth and was submissive to them. And his mother treasured up all these things in her heart. Then he went down to Nazareth with them and was obedient to them. But his mother treasured all these things in her heart.
