1 After this, the Lord appointed seventy-two others, and he sent them ahead of him in pairs to every town and place where he himself was about to go. 2 He told them, “The harvest is abundant, but the workers are few. Therefore, pray to the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into his harvest. 3 Now go; I’m sending you out like lambs among wolves. Go your way; behold, I am sending you out as lambs in the midst of wolves. Go! I am sending you out like lambs among wolves.
4 Don’t carry a money-bag, traveling bag, or sandals; don’t greet anyone along the road. Carry no moneybag, no knapsack, no sandals, and greet no one on the road. Do not take a purse or bag or sandals; and do not greet anyone on the road.
5 Whatever house you enter, first say, ‘Peace to this household.’ Whatever house you enter, first say, ‘Peace be to this house!’ “When you enter a house, first say, ‘Peace to this house.’
6 If a person of peace is there, your peace will rest on him; but if not, it will return to you. And if a son of peace is there, your peace will rest upon him. But if not, it will return to you. If someone who promotes peace is there, your peace will rest on them; if not, it will return to you.
7 Remain in the same house, eating and drinking what they offer, for the worker is worthy of his wages. Don’t move from house to house. And remain in the same house, eating and drinking what they provide, for the laborer deserves his wages. Do not go from house to house. Stay there, eating and drinking whatever they give you, for the worker deserves his wages. Do not move around from house to house.
8 When you enter any town, and they welcome you, eat the things set before you. Whenever you enter a town and they receive you, eat what is set before you. “When you enter a town and are welcomed, eat what is offered to you.
9 Heal the sick who are there, and tell them, ‘The kingdom of God has come near you.’ Heal the sick in it and say to them, ‘The kingdom of God has come near to you.’ Heal the sick who are there and tell them, ‘The kingdom of God has come near to you.’
10 When you enter any town, and they don’t welcome you, go out into its streets and say, But whenever you enter a town and they do not receive you, go into its streets and say, But when you enter a town and are not welcomed, go into its streets and say,
11 ‘We are wiping off even the dust of your town that clings to our feet as a witness against you. Know this for certain: The kingdom of God has come near.’ ‘Even the dust of your town that clings to our feet we wipe off against you. 12 I tell you, on that day it will be more tolerable for Sodom than for that town. I tell you, it will be more bearable on that day for Sodom than for that town. I tell you, it will be more bearable on that day for Sodom than for that town.
13 “Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the miracles that were done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago, sitting in sackcloth and ashes. “Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! 16 Whoever listens to you listens to me. Whoever rejects you rejects me. 21 At that time he rejoiced in the Holy Spirit and said, “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and intelligent and revealed them to infants. In that same hour he rejoiced in the Holy Spirit and said, “I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hidden these things from the wise and understanding and revealed them to little children; yes, Father, for such was your gracious will. At that time Jesus, full of joy through the Holy Spirit, said, “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. Yes, Father, for this is what you were pleased to do.
22 All things have been entrusted to me by my Father. No one knows who the Son is except the Father, and who the Father is except the Son, and anyone to whom the Son desires to reveal him.” All things have been handed over to me by my Father, and no one knows who the Son is except the Father, or who the Father is except the Son and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.” “All things have been committed to me by my Father. 27 He answered, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind,” and “your neighbor as yourself.” And he answered, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself.” He answered, “’Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’; and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’”
28 “You’ve answered correctly,” he told him. “Do this and you will live.” And he said to him, “You have answered correctly; do this, and you will live.” “You have answered correctly,” Jesus replied. “Do this and you will live.”
29 But wanting to justify himself, he asked Jesus, “And who is my neighbor? ” But he, desiring to justify himself, said to Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?” But he wanted to justify himself, so he asked Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?”
30 Jesus took up the question and said, “A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho and fell into the hands of robbers. They stripped him, beat him up, and fled, leaving him half dead. 37 “The one who showed mercy to him,” he said. Then Jesus told him, “Go and do the same.” He said, “The one who showed him mercy.” And Jesus said to him, “You go, and do likewise.” The expert in the law replied, “The one who had mercy on him.” Jesus told him, “Go and do likewise.”
38 While they were traveling, he entered a village, and a woman named Martha welcomed him into her home. Now as they went on their way, Jesus entered a village. And a woman named Martha welcomed him into her house. As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him.

42 but one thing is necessary. Mary has made the right choice, and it will not be taken away from her.” but one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the good portion, which will not be taken away from her.” but few things are needed—or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”
