Praise the LORD, O my soul! O LORD my God, you are magnificent. You are robed in splendor and majesty. 1Bless the LORD, O my soul. O LORD my God, thou art very great; thou art clothed with honour and majesty.
He covers himself with light as if it were a garment. He stretches out the skies like a tent curtain, 2Who coverest thyself with light as with a garment: who stretchest out the heavens like a curtain:
and lays the beams of the upper rooms of his palace on the rain clouds. He makes the clouds his chariot, and travels along on the wings of the wind. 3Who layeth the beams of his chambers in the waters: who maketh the clouds his chariot: who walketh upon the wings of the wind:
He makes the winds his messengers, and the flaming fire his attendant. 4Who maketh his angels spirits; his ministers a flaming fire:
He established the earth on its foundations; it will never be upended. 5Who laid the foundations of the earth, that it should not be removed for ever.
The watery deep covered it like a garment; the waters reached above the mountains. 6Thou coveredst it with the deep as with a garment: the waters stood above the mountains.
Your shout made the waters retreat; at the sound of your thunderous voice they hurried off--7At thy rebuke they fled; at the voice of thy thunder they hasted away.
as the mountains rose up, and the valleys went down--to the place you appointed for them. 8They go up by the mountains; they go down by the valleys unto the place which thou hast founded for them.
You set up a boundary for them that they could not cross, so that they would not cover the earth again. 9Thou hast set a bound that they may not pass over; that they turn not again to cover the earth.
He turns springs into streams; they flow between the mountains. 10He sendeth the springs into the valleys, which run among the hills.
They provide water for all the animals in the field; the wild donkeys quench their thirst. 11They give drink to every beast of the field: the wild asses quench their thirst.
The birds of the sky live beside them; they chirp among the bushes. 12By them shall the fowls of the heaven have their habitation, which sing among the branches.
He waters the mountains from the upper rooms of his palace; the earth is full of the fruit you cause to grow. 13He watereth the hills from his chambers: the earth is satisfied with the fruit of thy works.
He provides grass for the cattle, and crops for people to cultivate, so they can produce food from the ground, 14He causeth the grass to grow for the cattle, and herb for the service of man: that he may bring forth food out of the earth;
as well as wine that makes people feel so good, and so they can have oil to make their faces shine, as well as food that sustains people's lives. 15And wine that maketh glad the heart of man, and oil to make his face to shine, and bread which strengtheneth man's heart.
The trees of the LORD receive all the rain they need, the cedars of Lebanon which he planted, 16The trees of the LORD are full of sap; the cedars of Lebanon, which he hath planted;
where the birds make nests, near the evergreens in which the herons live. 17Where the birds make their nests: as for the stork, the fir trees are her house.
The wild goats live in the high mountains; the rock badgers find safety in the cliffs. 18The high hills are a refuge for the wild goats; and the rocks for the conies.
He made the moon to mark the months, and the sun sets according to a regular schedule. 19He appointed the moon for seasons: the sun knoweth his going down.
You make it dark and night comes, during which all the beasts of the forest prowl around. 20Thou makest darkness, and it is night: wherein all the beasts of the forest do creep forth.
The lions roar for prey, seeking their food from God. 21The young lions roar after their prey, and seek their meat from God.
When the sun rises, they withdraw and sleep in their dens. 22The sun ariseth, they gather themselves together, and lay them down in their dens.
Men then go out to do their work, and labor away until evening. 23Man goeth forth unto his work and to his labour until the evening.
How many living things you have made, O LORD! You have exhibited great skill in making all of them; the earth is full of the living things you have made. 24O LORD, how manifold are thy works! in wisdom hast thou made them all: the earth is full of thy riches.
Over here is the deep, wide sea, which teems with innumerable swimming creatures, living things both small and large. 25So is this great and wide sea, wherein are things creeping innumerable, both small and great beasts.
The ships travel there, and over here swims the whale you made to play in it. 26There go the ships: there is that leviathan, whom thou hast made to play therein.
All of your creatures wait for you to provide them with food on a regular basis. 27These wait all upon thee; that thou mayest give them their meat in due season.
You give food to them and they receive it; you open your hand and they are filled with food. 28That thou givest them they gather: thou openest thine hand, they are filled with good.
When you ignore them, they panic. When you take away their life's breath, they die and return to dust. 29Thou hidest thy face, they are troubled: thou takest away their breath, they die, and return to their dust.
When you send your life-giving breath, they are created, and you replenish the surface of the ground. 30Thou sendest forth thy spirit, they are created: and thou renewest the face of the earth.
May the splendor of the LORD endure! May the LORD find pleasure in the living things he has made! 31The glory of the LORD shall endure for ever: the LORD shall rejoice in his works.
He looks down on the earth and it shakes; he touches the mountains and they start to smolder. 32He looketh on the earth, and it trembleth: he toucheth the hills, and they smoke.
I will sing to the LORD as long as I live; I will sing praise to my God as long as I exist! 33I will sing unto the LORD as long as I live: I will sing praise to my God while I have my being.
May my thoughts be pleasing to him! I will rejoice in the LORD. 34My meditation of him shall be sweet: I will be glad in the LORD.
May sinners disappear from the earth, and the wicked vanish! Praise the LORD, O my soul! Praise the LORD! 35Let the sinners be consumed out of the earth, and let the wicked be no more. Bless thou the LORD, O my soul. Praise ye the LORD.
