Psalm 104
NET Parallel ESV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
NET BibleEnglish Standard Version
Praise the LORD, O my soul! O LORD my God, you are magnificent. You are robed in splendor and majesty. 1Bless the LORD, O my soul! O LORD my God, you are very great! You are clothed with splendor and majesty,
He covers himself with light as if it were a garment. He stretches out the skies like a tent curtain, 2covering yourself with light as with a garment, stretching out the heavens like a tent.
and lays the beams of the upper rooms of his palace on the rain clouds. He makes the clouds his chariot, and travels along on the wings of the wind. 3He lays the beams of his chambers on the waters; he makes the clouds his chariot; he rides on the wings of the wind;
He makes the winds his messengers, and the flaming fire his attendant. 4he makes his messengers winds, his ministers a flaming fire.
He established the earth on its foundations; it will never be upended. 5He set the earth on its foundations, so that it should never be moved.
The watery deep covered it like a garment; the waters reached above the mountains. 6You covered it with the deep as with a garment; the waters stood above the mountains.
Your shout made the waters retreat; at the sound of your thunderous voice they hurried off--7At your rebuke they fled; at the sound of your thunder they took to flight.
as the mountains rose up, and the valleys went down--to the place you appointed for them. 8The mountains rose, the valleys sank down to the place that you appointed for them.
You set up a boundary for them that they could not cross, so that they would not cover the earth again. 9You set a boundary that they may not pass, so that they might not again cover the earth.
He turns springs into streams; they flow between the mountains. 10You make springs gush forth in the valleys; they flow between the hills;
They provide water for all the animals in the field; the wild donkeys quench their thirst. 11they give drink to every beast of the field; the wild donkeys quench their thirst.
The birds of the sky live beside them; they chirp among the bushes. 12Beside them the birds of the heavens dwell; they sing among the branches.
He waters the mountains from the upper rooms of his palace; the earth is full of the fruit you cause to grow. 13From your lofty abode you water the mountains; the earth is satisfied with the fruit of your work.
He provides grass for the cattle, and crops for people to cultivate, so they can produce food from the ground, 14You cause the grass to grow for the livestock and plants for man to cultivate, that he may bring forth food from the earth
as well as wine that makes people feel so good, and so they can have oil to make their faces shine, as well as food that sustains people's lives. 15and wine to gladden the heart of man, oil to make his face shine and bread to strengthen man’s heart.
The trees of the LORD receive all the rain they need, the cedars of Lebanon which he planted, 16The trees of the LORD are watered abundantly, the cedars of Lebanon that he planted.
where the birds make nests, near the evergreens in which the herons live. 17In them the birds build their nests; the stork has her home in the fir trees.
The wild goats live in the high mountains; the rock badgers find safety in the cliffs. 18The high mountains are for the wild goats; the rocks are a refuge for the rock badgers.
He made the moon to mark the months, and the sun sets according to a regular schedule. 19He made the moon to mark the seasons; the sun knows its time for setting.
You make it dark and night comes, during which all the beasts of the forest prowl around. 20You make darkness, and it is night, when all the beasts of the forest creep about.
The lions roar for prey, seeking their food from God. 21The young lions roar for their prey, seeking their food from God.
When the sun rises, they withdraw and sleep in their dens. 22When the sun rises, they steal away and lie down in their dens.
Men then go out to do their work, and labor away until evening. 23Man goes out to his work and to his labor until the evening.
How many living things you have made, O LORD! You have exhibited great skill in making all of them; the earth is full of the living things you have made. 24O LORD, how manifold are your works! In wisdom have you made them all; the earth is full of your creatures.
Over here is the deep, wide sea, which teems with innumerable swimming creatures, living things both small and large. 25Here is the sea, great and wide, which teems with creatures innumerable, living things both small and great.
The ships travel there, and over here swims the whale you made to play in it. 26There go the ships, and Leviathan, which you formed to play in it.
All of your creatures wait for you to provide them with food on a regular basis. 27These all look to you, to give them their food in due season.
You give food to them and they receive it; you open your hand and they are filled with food. 28When you give it to them, they gather it up; when you open your hand, they are filled with good things.
When you ignore them, they panic. When you take away their life's breath, they die and return to dust. 29When you hide your face, they are dismayed; when you take away their breath, they die and return to their dust.
When you send your life-giving breath, they are created, and you replenish the surface of the ground. 30When you send forth your Spirit, they are created, and you renew the face of the ground.
May the splendor of the LORD endure! May the LORD find pleasure in the living things he has made! 31May the glory of the LORD endure forever; may the LORD rejoice in his works,
He looks down on the earth and it shakes; he touches the mountains and they start to smolder. 32who looks on the earth and it trembles, who touches the mountains and they smoke!
I will sing to the LORD as long as I live; I will sing praise to my God as long as I exist! 33I will sing to the LORD as long as I live; I will sing praise to my God while I have being.
May my thoughts be pleasing to him! I will rejoice in the LORD. 34May my meditation be pleasing to him, for I rejoice in the LORD.
May sinners disappear from the earth, and the wicked vanish! Praise the LORD, O my soul! Praise the LORD! 35Let sinners be consumed from the earth, and let the wicked be no more! Bless the LORD, O my soul! Praise the LORD!
