and distributed to all Israel, both men and women, to each a loaf of bread, a portion of meat, and a cake of raisins.3Then he distributed to each and every Israelite, both men and women, a loaf of bread, a date cake, and a raisin cake.
Then he appointed some of the Levites as ministers before the ark of the LORD, to invoke, to thank, and to praise the LORD, the God of Israel.4David appointed some of the Levites to be ministers before the ark of the LORD, to celebrate the LORD God of Israel, and to give thanks and praise to him.
Asaph was the chief, and second to him were Zechariah, Jeiel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Mattithiah, Eliab, Benaiah, Obed-edom, and Jeiel, who were to play harps and lyres; Asaph was to sound the cymbals,5Asaph was the chief and Zechariah was second to him. 7Then on that day David first appointed that thanksgiving be sung to the LORD by Asaph and his brothers.7On that day David decreed for the first time that thanks be given to the LORD by Asaph and his relatives:
Oh give thanks to the LORD; call upon his name; make known his deeds among the peoples!8Give thanks to the LORD; call on his name; proclaim his deeds among the peoples.
Sing to him, sing praises to him; tell of all his wondrous works!9Sing to him; sing praise to him; tell about all his wondrous works!
Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice!10Honor his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice.
Seek the LORD and his strength; seek his presence continually!11Seek the LORD and his strength; seek his face always.
Remember the wondrous works that he has done, his miracles and the judgments he uttered,12Remember the wondrous works he has done, his wonders, and the judgments he has pronounced,
O offspring of Israel his servant, children of Jacob, his chosen ones!13you offspring of Israel his servant, Jacob's descendants--his chosen ones.
He is the LORD our God; his judgments are in all the earth.14He is the LORD our God; his judgments govern the whole earth.
Remember his covenant forever, the word that he commanded, for a thousand generations,15Remember his covenant forever--the promise he ordained for a thousand generations,
the covenant that he made with Abraham, his sworn promise to Isaac,16the covenant he made with Abraham, swore to Isaac,
which he confirmed to Jacob as a statute, to Israel as an everlasting covenant,17and confirmed to Jacob as a decree, and to Israel as a permanent covenant:
saying, “To you I will give the land of Canaan, as your portion for an inheritance.”18"I will give the land of Canaan to you as your inherited portion."
When you were few in number, of little account, and sojourners in it,19When they were few in number, very few indeed, and resident aliens in Canaan
wandering from nation to nation, from one kingdom to another people,20wandering from nation to nation and from one kingdom to another,
he allowed no one to oppress them; he rebuked kings on their account,21he allowed no one to oppress them; he rebuked kings on their behalf:
saying, “Touch not my anointed ones, do my prophets no harm!”22"Do not touch my anointed ones or harm my prophets."
Sing to the LORD, all the earth! Tell of his salvation from day to day.23Let the whole earth sing to the LORD. Proclaim his salvation from day to day.
Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous works among all the peoples!24Declare his glory among the nations, his wondrous works among all peoples.
For great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised, and he is to be feared above all gods.25For the LORD is great and highly praised; he is feared above all gods.
For all the gods of the peoples are worthless idols, but the LORD made the heavens.26For all the gods of the peoples are idols, but the LORD made the heavens.
Splendor and majesty are before him; strength and joy are in his place.27Splendor and majesty are before him; strength and joy are in his place.
Ascribe to the LORD, O families of the peoples, ascribe to the LORD glory and strength!28Ascribe to the LORD, families of the peoples, ascribe to the LORD glory and strength.
Ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name; bring an offering and come before him! Worship the LORD in the splendor of holiness;29Ascribe to the LORD the glory of his name; bring an offering and come before him. Worship the LORD in the splendor of his holiness;
tremble before him, all the earth; yes, the world is established; it shall never be moved.30let the whole earth tremble before him. The world is firmly established; it cannot be shaken.
Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice, and let them say among the nations, “The LORD reigns!”31Let the heavens be glad and the earth rejoice, and let them say among the nations, "The LORD reigns!"
Let the sea roar, and all that fills it; let the field exult, and everything in it!32Let the sea and all that fills it resound; let the fields and everything in them exult.
Then shall the trees of the forest sing for joy before the LORD, for he comes to judge the earth.33Then the trees of the forest will shout for joy before the LORD, for he is coming to judge the earth.
Oh give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; for his steadfast love endures forever!34Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his faithful love endures forever.
Say also: “Save us, O God of our salvation, and gather and deliver us from among the nations, that we may give thanks to your holy name and glory in your praise.35And say: "Save us, God of our salvation; gather us and rescue us from the nations so that we may give thanks to your holy name and rejoice in your praise.
Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting!” Then all the people said, “Amen!” and praised the LORD.36Blessed be the LORD God of Israel from everlasting to everlasting." Then all the people said, "Amen" and "Praise the LORD."
