| 16 | וְלָ֤רָשָׁ֨ע ׀ אָ֘מַ֤ר אֱלֹהִ֗ים מַה־ לְּ֭ךָ לְסַפֵּ֣ר חֻקָּ֑י וַתִּשָּׂ֖א בְרִיתִ֣י עֲלֵי־ פִֽיךָ׃ | But to the wicked God says: “What right have you to recite my statutes or take my covenant on your lips? | But to the wicked person, God says: “What right have you to recite my laws or take my covenant on your lips? | |
| 17 | וְ֭אַתָּה שָׂנֵ֣אתָ מוּסָ֑ר וַתַּשְׁלֵ֖ךְ דְּבָרַ֣י אַחֲרֶֽיךָ׃ | For you hate discipline, and you cast my words behind you. | You hate my instruction and cast my words behind you. | |
| 18 | אִם־ רָאִ֣יתָ גַ֭נָּב וַתִּ֣רֶץ עִמּ֑וֹ וְעִ֖ם מְנָאֲפִ֣ים חֶלְקֶֽךָ׃ | If you see a thief, you are pleased with him, and you keep company with adulterers. | When you see a thief, you join with him; you throw in your lot with adulterers. | |
| 19 | פִּ֭יךָ שָׁלַ֣חְתָּ בְרָעָ֑ה וּ֝לְשׁוֹנְךָ֗ תַּצְמִ֥יד מִרְמָֽה׃ | “You give your mouth free rein for evil, and your tongue frames deceit. | You use your mouth for evil and harness your tongue to deceit. | |
| 20 | תֵּ֭שֵׁב בְּאָחִ֣יךָ תְדַבֵּ֑ר בְּבֶֽן־ אִ֝מְּךָ֗ תִּתֶּן־ דֹּֽפִי׃ | You sit and speak against your brother; you slander your own mother’s son. | You sit and testify against your brother and slander your own mother’s son. | |
| 21 | אֵ֤לֶּה עָשִׂ֨יתָ ׀ וְֽהֶחֱרַ֗שְׁתִּי דִּמִּ֗יתָ הֱֽיוֹת־ אֶֽהְיֶ֥ה כָמ֑וֹךָ אוֹכִיחֲךָ֖ וְאֶֽעֶרְכָ֣ה לְעֵינֶֽיךָ׃ | These things you have done, and I have been silent; you thought that I was one like yourself. But now I rebuke you and lay the charge before you. | When you did these things and I kept silent, you thought I was exactly like you. But I now arraign you and set my accusations before you. | |
| 22 | בִּֽינוּ־ נָ֣א זֹ֭את שֹׁכְחֵ֣י אֱל֑וֹהַּ פֶּן־ אֶ֝טְרֹ֗ף וְאֵ֣ין מַצִּֽיל׃ | “Mark this, then, you who forget God, lest I tear you apart, and there be none to deliver! | “Consider this, you who forget God, or I will tear you to pieces, with no one to rescue you: | |
| 23 | זֹבֵ֥חַ תּוֹדָ֗ה יְֽכַ֫בְּדָ֥נְנִי וְשָׂ֥ם דֶּ֑רֶךְ אַ֝רְאֶ֗נּוּ בְּיֵ֣שַׁע אֱלֹהִֽים׃ | The one who offers thanksgiving as his sacrifice glorifies me; to one who orders his way rightly I will show the salvation of God!” | Those who sacrifice thank offerings honor me, and to the blameless I will show my salvation.” | |
