2 and said to his servants, “This is John the Baptizer. He is risen from the dead. That is why these powers work in him.” and he said to his servants, “This is John the Baptist. He has been raised from the dead; that is why these miraculous powers are at work in him.” and he said to his attendants, “This is John the Baptist; he has risen from the dead! That is why miraculous powers are at work in him.”
3 For Herod had arrested John, bound him, and put him in prison for the sake of Herodias, his brother Philip’s wife. For Herod had seized John and bound him and put him in prison for the sake of Herodias, his brother Philip’s wife, Now Herod had arrested John and bound him and put him in prison because of Herodias, his brother Philip’s wife,
4 For John said to him, “It is not lawful for you to have her.” because John had been saying to him, “It is not lawful for you to have her.” for John had been saying to him: “It is not lawful for you to have her.”
5 When he would have put him to death, he feared the multitude, because they counted him as a prophet. And though he wanted to put him to death, he feared the people, because they held him to be a prophet. Herod wanted to kill John, but he was afraid of the people, because they considered John a prophet.
6 But when Herod’s birthday came, the daughter of Herodias danced among them and pleased Herod. But when Herod’s birthday came, the daughter of Herodias danced before the company and pleased Herod, On Herod’s birthday the daughter of Herodias danced for the guests and pleased Herod so much
7 Therefore he promised with an oath to give her whatever she should ask. so that he promised with an oath to give her whatever she might ask. that he promised with an oath to give her whatever she asked.
8 She, being prompted by her mother, said, “Give me here on a platter the head of John the Baptizer.” Prompted by her mother, she said, “Give me the head of John the Baptist here on a platter.” Prompted by her mother, she said, “Give me here on a platter the head of John the Baptist.”
9 The king was grieved, but for the sake of his oaths and of those who sat at the table with him, he commanded it to be given, And the king was sorry, but because of his oaths and his guests he commanded it to be given. The king was distressed, but because of his oaths and his dinner guests, he ordered that her request be granted
10 and he sent and beheaded John in the prison. He sent and had John beheaded in the prison, and had John beheaded in the prison.
11 His head was brought on a platter and given to the young lady; and she brought it to her mother. and his head was brought on a platter and given to the girl, and she brought it to her mother. His head was brought in on a platter and given to the girl, who carried it to her mother.

13 Now when Jesus heard this, he withdrew from there in a boat to a deserted place apart. When the multitudes heard it, they followed him on foot from the cities. When Jesus heard what had happened, he withdrew by boat privately to a solitary place. Hearing of this, the crowds followed him on foot from the towns.
14 Jesus went out, and he saw a great multitude. He had compassion on them and healed their sick. When he went ashore he saw a great crowd, and he had compassion on them and healed their sick. When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he had compassion on them and healed their sick.
15 When evening had come, his disciples came to him, saying, “This place is deserted, and the hour is already late. Send the multitudes away, that they may go into the villages, and buy themselves food.” Now when it was evening, the disciples came to him and said, “This is a desolate place, and the day is now over; send the crowds away to go into the villages and buy food for themselves.” As evening approached, the disciples came to him and said, “This is a remote place, and it’s already getting late. Send the crowds away, so they can go to the villages and buy themselves some food.”
16 But Jesus said to them, “They don’t need to go away. You give them something to eat.” But Jesus said, “They need not go away; you give them something to eat.” Jesus replied, “They do not need to go away. You give them something to eat.”
17 They told him, “We only have here five loaves and two fish.” They said to him, “We have only five loaves here and two fish.” “We have here only five loaves of bread and two fish,” they answered.
18 He said, “Bring them here to me.” And he said, “Bring them here to me.” “Bring them here to me,” he said.
19 He commanded the multitudes to sit down on the grass; and he took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, he blessed, broke and gave the loaves to the disciples; and the disciples gave to the multitudes. Then he ordered the crowds to sit down on the grass, and taking the five loaves and the two fish, he looked up to heaven and said a blessing. Then he broke the loaves and gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the crowds. And he directed the people to sit down on the grass. Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke the loaves. Then he gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the people.
20 They all ate and were filled. They took up twelve baskets full of that which remained left over from the broken pieces. And they all ate and were satisfied. And they took up twelve baskets full of the broken pieces left over. They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over.

25 In the fourth watch of the night, Jesus came to them, walking on the sea. And in the fourth watch of the night he came to them, walking on the sea. Shortly before dawn Jesus went out to them, walking on the lake.
26 When the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, “It’s a ghost!” and they cried out for fear. 27 But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, “Cheer up! It is I! Don’t be afraid.” But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, “Take heart; it is I. Do not be afraid.” But Jesus immediately said to them: “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.”
28 Peter answered him and said, “Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the waters.” And Peter answered him, “Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water.” “Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.”
29 He said, “Come!” Peter stepped down from the boat and walked on the waters to come to Jesus. He said, “Come.” So Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water and came to Jesus. “Come,” he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus.
30 But when he saw that the wind was strong, he was afraid, and beginning to sink, he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!” But when he saw the wind, he was afraid, and beginning to sink he cried out, “Lord, save me.” But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!”
31 Immediately Jesus stretched out his hand, took hold of him, and said to him, “You of little faith, why did you doubt?” Jesus immediately reached out his hand and took hold of him, saying to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?” Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “You of little faith,” he said, “why did you doubt?”
32 When they got up into the boat, the wind ceased. And when they got into the boat, the wind ceased. And when they climbed into the boat, the wind died down.
33 Those who were in the boat came and worshiped him, saying, “You are truly the Son of God!” And those in the boat worshiped him, saying, “Truly you are the Son of God.” Then those who were in the boat worshiped him, saying, “Truly you are the Son of God.”
34 When they had crossed over, they came to the land of Gennesaret. And when they had crossed over, they came to land at Gennesaret. When they had crossed over, they landed at Gennesaret.
35 When the people of that place recognized him, they sent into all that surrounding region and brought to him all who were sick; And when the men of that place recognized him, they sent around to all that region and brought to him all who were sick And when the men of that place recognized Jesus, they sent word to all the surrounding country. People brought all their sick to him
36 and they begged him that they might just touch the fringe of his garment. As many as touched it were made whole. and implored him that they might only touch the fringe of his garment. And as many as touched it were made well. and begged him to let the sick just touch the edge of his cloak, and all who touched it were healed.
