10 no wallet for your journey, neither two coats, nor shoes, nor staff: for the labourer is worthy of his food. no bag for your journey, or two tunics or sandals or a staff, for the laborer deserves his food. no bag for the journey or extra shirt or sandals or a staff, for the worker is worth his keep.
11 And into whatsoever city or village ye shall enter, search out who in it is worthy; and there abide till ye go forth. And whatever town or village you enter, find out who is worthy in it and stay there until you depart. Whatever town or village you enter, search there for some worthy person and stay at their house until you leave.
12 And as ye enter into the house, salute it. As you enter the house, greet it. As you enter the home, give it your greeting.
13 And if the house be worthy, let your peace come upon it: but if it be not worthy, let your peace return to you. And if the house is worthy, let your peace come upon it, but if it is not worthy, let your peace return to you. If the home is deserving, let your peace rest on it; if it is not, let your peace return to you.
14 And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, as ye go forth out of that house or that city, shake off the dust of your feet. And if anyone will not receive you or listen to your words, shake off the dust from your feet when you leave that house or town. If anyone will not welcome you or listen to your words, leave that home or town and shake the dust off your feet.
15 Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment, than for that city. Truly, I say to you, it will be more bearable on the day of judgment for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah than for that town. Truly I tell you, it will be more bearable for Sodom and Gomorrah on the day of judgment than for that town.
16 Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves. “Behold, I am sending you out as sheep in the midst of wolves, so be wise as serpents and innocent as doves. “I am sending you out like sheep among wolves. Therefore be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves.
17 But beware of men: for they will deliver you up to councils, and in their synagogues they will scourge you; Beware of men, for they will deliver you over to courts and flog you in their synagogues, Be on your guard; you will be handed over to the local councils and be flogged in the synagogues.
18 yea and before governors and kings shall ye be brought for my sake, for a testimony to them and to the Gentiles. and you will be dragged before governors and kings for my sake, to bear witness before them and the Gentiles. On my account you will be brought before governors and kings as witnesses to them and to the Gentiles.
19 But when they deliver you up, be not anxious how or what ye shall speak: for it shall be given you in that hour what ye shall speak. When they deliver you over, do not be anxious how you are to speak or what you are to say, for what you are to say will be given to you in that hour. But when they arrest you, do not worry about what to say or how to say it. At that time you will be given what to say,
20 For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father that speaketh in you. For it is not you who speak, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you. for it will not be you speaking, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.
21 And brother shall deliver up brother to death, and the father his child: and children shall rise up against parents, and cause them to be put to death. Brother will deliver brother over to death, and the father his child, and children will rise against parents and have them put to death, “Brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child; children will rebel against their parents and have them put to death.
22 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end, the same shall be saved. and you will be hated by all for my name’s sake. But the one who endures to the end will be saved. You will be hated by everyone because of me, but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved.
23 But when they persecute you in this city, flee into the next: for verily I say unto you, Ye shall not have gone through the cities of Israel, till the Son of man be come. When they persecute you in one town, flee to the next, for truly, I say to you, you will not have gone through all the towns of Israel before the Son of Man comes. When you are persecuted in one place, flee to another. Truly I tell you, you will not finish going through the towns of Israel before the Son of Man comes.
24 A disciple is not above his master, nor a servant above his lord. “A disciple is not above his teacher, nor a servant above his master. “The student is not above the teacher, nor a servant above his master.
25 It is enough for the disciple that he be as his master, and the servant as his lord. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more shall they call them of his household! It is enough for the disciple to be like his teacher, and the servant like his master. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebul, how much more will they malign those of his household. It is enough for students to be like their teachers, and servants like their masters. If the head of the house has been called Beelzebul, how much more the members of his household!
26 Fear them not therefore: for there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known. “So have no fear of them, for nothing is covered that will not be revealed, or hidden that will not be known. “So do not be afraid of them, for there is nothing concealed that will not be disclosed, or hidden that will not be made known.
27 What I tell you in the darkness, speak ye in the light: and what ye hear in the ear, proclaim upon the housetops. What I tell you in the dark, say in the light, and what you hear whispered, proclaim on the housetops. What I tell you in the dark, speak in the daylight; what is whispered in your ear, proclaim from the roofs.
28 And be not afraid of them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell. Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell.
29 Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and not one of them shall fall on the ground without your Father: Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? And not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father’s care.

31 Fear not therefore; ye are of more value than many sparrows. Fear not, therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows. So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.
32 Every one therefore who shall confess me before men, him will I also confess before my Father which is in heaven. So everyone who acknowledges me before men, I also will acknowledge before my Father who is in heaven, “Whoever acknowledges me before others, I will also acknowledge before my Father in heaven.
33 But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven. but whoever denies me before men, I also will deny before my Father who is in heaven. But whoever disowns me before others, I will disown before my Father in heaven.
34 Think not that I came to send peace on the earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. “Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace, but a sword. “Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword.
35 For I came to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law: For I have come to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. For I have come to turn “’a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law—
36 and a man's foes shall be they of his own household. And a person’s enemies will be those of his own household. a man’s enemies will be the members of his own household.’
37 He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. Whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me, and whoever loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. “Anyone who loves their father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; anyone who loves their son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.
38 And he that doth not take his cross and follow after me, is not worthy of me. And whoever does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me. Whoever does not take up their cross and follow me is not worthy of me.
39 He that findeth his life shall lose it; and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it. Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. Whoever finds their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life for my sake will find it.
40 He that receiveth you receiveth me, and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me. “Whoever receives you receives me, and whoever receives me receives him who sent me. “Anyone who welcomes you welcomes me, and anyone who welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me.
41 He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet's reward; and he that receiveth a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man's reward. The one who receives a prophet because he is a prophet will receive a prophet’s reward, and the one who receives a righteous person because he is a righteous person will receive a righteous person’s reward. Whoever welcomes a prophet as a prophet will receive a prophet’s reward, and whoever welcomes a righteous person as a righteous person will receive a righteous person’s reward.
42 And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only, in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward. And whoever gives one of these little ones even a cup of cold water because he is a disciple, truly, I say to you, he will by no means lose his reward.” And if anyone gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones who is my disciple, truly I tell you, that person will certainly not lose their reward.”
